POR Questions?

For our first on site stay, we stayed at POFQ and loved it. We're thinking about going back there...but also considering POR. DH hates "rustic" though, and would only want to stay in the mansions, not the alligator bayou. How many rooms are in each section- do people tend to request the bayou because of the extra trundle, or the mansions because they're at the front? How likely would we be to get our request?

Disney tends to put families in to the Alligator Bayou because of the trundle beds. But please remember that you are not guaranteed a Mansion room, even if you ask for it. Disney tries to honor requests, but that is what they are, requests. If your hubby would be miserable in an AB room, maybe you should look at moving to POFQ. Their rooms are very similar to the mansion rooms at POR.

The time of year that you are going plays into how likely you are to have your request met. If they are not totally booked, then they have a little more flexibility. Also, the time of day that you check in can be a factor.

That being said --- I would think that you would have a really good chance of your request being met if all you are asking for is to be in the Mansions area. You really are not asking for a lot. The more specific you are (i.e., a certain floor, a certain building, some people even request a certain room), the narrower your chances get.

I suggest that you have your preference noted on your reservation. Then, when you check in, if they happen to give you Alligator Bayou, just ask if Mansions is available. If you are willing to wait for a room to be ready, let them know that. I would check in as early as possible and be willing to wait for a Mansions room to be ready.

You can request the mansion section but it is not garenteed. If you think that ending up in the AB section will negatively impact your DH vacation experiance then I would not book POR.

Check out www.allearsnet.com as they have pictures of the rooms. Have your husband take a look at the theming. Maybe he will not "hate" the section.
