POR / POFQ bus question

I read the POFQ resort thread and they mentioned that the bus is shared between the two resorts. Does anyone know if it begins in POFQ and then goes to POR or the other way around?

Thanks

Everything you see will tell you that the busses always start at POFQ.

This was not alway the case on my last trip(August). About 30% of the time the bus had been to POR first. We were not able to find out why. There were some bus issues in general at that time.

Also, first thing in the morning, each resort has it's own bus. If you are going at park opening at POR, avoid the main depot 1st thing in the morning as it is the last stop then. (But not later in the day)
Confused yet:confused3

Great question! Our next trip will be at POR or POFQ. I noticed during research that two debates come up between these two resorts: 1) Will I get to sit down on the bus and at which stop is the best chance 2) the food court selection:surfweb:

Yes!!!:rotfl:

At park opening is the West depot the first stop and the main depot the last stop?

Then later in the day, does it do the main depot first and then head to west?

Much thanks for trying to help! :daisy:

Not to confuse the issue any further, but when we were at POFQ this past September the buses heading to DTD always made the rounds at POR before stopping at POFQ. At least one driver told us that was the normal route. Otherwise, POFQ either had a bus just for that resort, or would pick up at POFQ first before going to POR.

We stayed at POR this past fall. We never, not once, stopped at POFQ on the way to the parks, we had our own bus, and, we always went from the main bus stop right by the food court.

On the way home, we sometimes stopped at FQ first, but, not always. And, I'll note that if we did stop at FQ, it took about 30 secs. I really do not think this is the deciding factor btwn. POR & FQ, at least not in our experience.

As far as the foodcourts someone mentioned, we ate at both, thought POR had a bit more selection. But, both were fine.

IMO, the deciding factor between POR & FQ is theme and if you like both themes, whether or not it's really important to you to have a very compact resort, which FQ is and POR is not. Though we found the theming and grounds of POR much more beautiful and relaxing for our taste.

I could go on about the differences, but, this was really about busses right, so I'll stop rambling :rolleyes1

Recently WDW started using an automated announcer. It started with POR, so the buses went there first. It's my understanding that is no longer the case. POFQ is picked up and dropped off first going to the parks. It is last to DTD, which you can also use the boats to get to weather permitting. In the evening POFQ has its own bus stop at MK. Both resorts are beautiful, so you can't go wrong picking either one.

I just returned from French Quarter on Sunday. Here's what happened with busses last week. During "rush hour", the busses to the parks picked up at FQ first and then went ONLY to POR South Depot. The other 3 stops at Riverside must have had their own bus. At off-peak times, the bus made all 5 stops, starting with FQ, then POR South, West, North, and East.

I believe the Downtown Disney Bus is the only one that goes "backwards" - however, as I took the boat, I have no firsthand knowledge. I know it was like that last Spring.

Coming back at night, most busses make all the stops. The major exception is at the Magic Kingdom, where FQ and POR have separate bus stops.

Yes and yes! At least when we were there in August. Honestly, the only time I think it makes a difference is 1st thing in the morning. When we got on at West we always had a seat. (Although that didn't matter so much in the morning since we weren't completely exhausted yet! :rotfl2: ) The amount of time it takes to travel the loop later in the day was only a few minutes. Of course, if you want to go to the food court in the morning, then the main depot will save you a lot of walking even though the crowds are much larger.

I guess the bottom line is, no matter what resort you stay at, allow yourself enough travel time. Then you won't have to stress out about busses and can relax and enjoy.:wizard:

Question: When the buses first go to POR when dropping off, how far is that first stop (main stop?) from POFQ? And closest to which POFQ building?

My husband and I are staying at POFQ for the first time in 3 weeks and I was just wondering if it would be easy to hop off at the first POR stop and walk back to our room, depending on where we are located.

Thanks!

It is hard to say because distance is relative to everyone. For most kids, and for weary adults, it's a considerable walk. However, it's a gorgeous, peaceful walk, through POR, along the river. I would say doing it for the enjoyment is worth it, but, personally as tired as DD8 usually was when we were coming home from the parks, I definitely would not have done it for ease or convenience. I would say it's a 15 minute walk, maybe shorter if you're walking very rapibly, could be longer depending on the kids. HTH some.
