I just got back from POR 3 days ago and I can't say one bad thing about our experience there. Our Mousekeeper went above and beyond making little displays for my kids' growing supply of stuffed animals and disney toys. We found her to tip her directly the day before we left...the kids got her picture and autographs for their books too. One lifeguard led the kids in games in the main pool on Ole Man Island. Boatwrights food is excellent, especially the Blueprint Omlette for breakfast.
Your post brings back more endearing and wonderful memories of our times at this heavenly resort.
Each and every day, our sweet and caring mousekeeper would lovingly arrange DD's ever-expanding cache of plush WDW creatures in "displays" on her bed. During the last week of our visit, it was DD's BD! This mousekeeper knew about it an advance, as we chatted about a certain "special" plush for sale in the "general" store near the front office.

WELL, on the DAY OF HER BD...we had an early start! We left and bid this sweet woman a goodbye, informing her we would return late in the afternoon before an evening of celebration at the MK (E-ride night and dinner in the castle). DH intended to purchase the plush upon our return, as well as a few other treats we had set aside with a CM in the store.
As we returned to our room on the second floor in the courtyard of Oak Manor, corner room....we noticed SEVERAL GUESTS huddled outside our windows?!?

As soon as we neared the scene, we knew why! This darling woman, had "arranged" an entire & very elaborate "Birthday" scene (like a master window-display artist for Macy's or Saks!) for DD! All the animals were seated in a semi-circle around a small birthday cake (w/"4" candles), and a partially "wrapped" gift in the center. Some of the characters had pieces of the wrapping in their hands, etc.! The paper was torn off the gift in inconspicuous places here and there, as if they were all "unwrapping" it together. Tied to her favorite Minnie Mouse, was a beautiful bouquet of helium balloons! It was a breathtaking sight to behold, especially the look on our little 4~YO DD's face as she stared with the other guests at this stunning display.

There was also some Disney confetti around the area, and some other little candies scattered around the plush friends!
Once inside the room, she went to the window immediately, and carefully extracted the "wrapped" item from the center of the festivities! We were completely STUNNED to see the Disney character she wanted from the General Store under the wrapping/tape! She had gone on and on about this specific plush, and described it in great detail during her daily morning "chats" with this mousekeeper. She even told this kind woman, the plush she wanted was secretly "hidden" under the pile and wayyyyyy in the back...where no one else would find him!! LOL. The mousekeeper used to look at DH & I with a "wink" whenever DD would tell her about this birthday wish.
I promptly phoned the resort manager, and explained our surprise/gratitude. He transferred me to the person whom oversees this department for all the resorts, and I explained how this generous gesture by this invaluable associate had touched our hearts. We were so overwhelmed. The next day, she was greeted with hugs and kisses from DD, and showered with gratitude from DH and myself. She then informed us she had been called in by the main supervisor/manager that very morning. She seemed uncomfortable and a bit embarrassed to tell us, but she wished to express her gratitude for our "phone call" and praise to her boss, etc., (which was the LEAST we could do!) Apparently, she was made aware of the details of our call and commendation, and also received something special in recognition for her outstanding efforts.

She did not elaborate, but she seemed extremely satisfied/pleased by whatever it was. It's truly the little things like this, which are permanently etched in our minds, traced again and again over the years to rekindle warm and happy visions.
Have a WONDERFUL time at this MAGICAL resort!!
