Popular Baby Names in 2007

I'm glad that most of the names that I like aren't anywhere near the top ten (Audrey, Caroline, Aleksandr, Lux, Charlotte, Alixandra, Sergei, Viktor, Tatiana, Annika, Ekaterina).

Like "fltwinmom", I'm also going to breed my own Russian ice skating team. ;)

Annika was also on the list. But Annika and Katarina don't go together as well as Anastasia and Katarina.

I liked Kona and Kai if they were boys. Hawaiian names - go figure!

Funny story about the name Charlotte....

My cousin just had a baby... she named her "Charlotte".

Of course, my twins were looking at the baby and said "Charlotte.... like the spider?"

My cousin, obviously slightly offended, said, "No, as in Charlotte Bronte".

:rotfl:

Kids.....

My youngest dd was born in 2004 and her name is Teagan. Not too much chance of that showing up on the list. (I hope)

As I have mentioned before, if this baby is a girl we plan to name her Teagan. I have loved that name since I was a teen but actually have never heard of any Teagans except your dd. I have heard it is gaining in popularity but I still don't know any in my area. I hope you are right and it stays off the list but knowing my luck it won't if we end up with a Teagan. There were no Kylies in our area until the year my dd was born and now I know several.

I like the name Teagan, but sadly I've since met two spaniels with that name!

Thank you! Anna was named after my grandmother, who even my mom didn't know her real name was Anna (she went by Ann or Annie) until we told her we were naming my dd after her (she told us not to, it was a horrible name, and that's why she never used it :rotfl2: ). She was an amazing woman. Charlie was named after my grandfather, who was a really wonderful man.

My other kids are Marin (which is a derivative of Mary, and also means "of the sea," and she's a total beach nut), Jack (John, my FIL's name), and Kate (Katherine - named after my aunt). I like family names, not trendy names! :thumbsup2

Wow. I love all those names. We totally have the same taste, both Jack and Kate were names in the running when we were naming our two (Luke and Drew) and Marin has always been a favorite of mine...so unique but not "fake" or made-up sounding, if you know what I mean.

I love the UK lists. There are a lot of my favorite girls names on that list. Ruby was one of my top two girl names if ds5 had been a girl (the other was Lucy).

As far as personalized items, I have a funny story from Disneyland. DD wanted a personalized something (forget exactly what) from the POTC shop and a castmember saw us looking and came over asking to help. I said "oh, it's okay, you guys never have the name Zoe." To which he replied something like "yeah, it's just not popular enough, I guess." Not two minutes later 2 more people came into the shop with their kids and asked about personalized items with the name Zoe.

My niece is Ruby...she is as pretty as her name. Her sister is Daisy. I love their names!

(I also like Zoe!)

MY son's name is Carter back when I named him it was 179 on the list and 2006 it is 75.

My daughter(Rayne) was born in 2003, her name only made the list in 2006 and listed at 992..lol

I checked out my name and it is slowly becoming less popular...not that it was ever popular lol (Charity) when I was born it was 243 and now its 673

My husband (Bryan) has bounced around in the 70s and 60s for the last 10 years. I know it has been a pretty popular name although most spell it Brian

I'm not fond of any of those names. My name (Gemma) isn't that common. I like Willow for a girl and Max for a boy. Always have...now I just have to grow up a bit, get married and have Max and Willow!

I like Willow it was in the running for our daughter for a little while. I also love the names Ruby, Celeste, and Ivy for girls. Oh and one that has gained popularity, my son would have been named this if he had been a girl Ryleigh. I've heard it several times though

For boys we were stuck on Xander. I really can't think of any other boys names I like, Oliver is cute but my husband probably wouldn't like it lol.

i like oliver, david, justin, mike, chris, keron and steven for boys. as for girls...i like rachel, michelle, tanya, davina, sabrina, camella, verity, laura, natalie...list goes on

My son's name is on that list....Jack!
When he was born (1998) one of the nurses wanted to know if he was named after the Jack in Titanic....he wasn't, we just liked the name and since his Dad is named John, we wanted a derivative of his name.

See, I love both those names but someone I know has a cat called Willow and someone else has a dog called Max! I can't think of those names without thinking tabby cat or golden lab!

I'm shocked to see Oliver on the UK list. It's DS9's name, and we've never met another (except for the occasional character in a movie).

I'm pregnant with number 2 right now, so this thread is great to read!

Dsis named her daughter Emma (she's 4) and there are *5* Emmas in her preschool class - so many that she can't even be "Emma R" because there's another Emma R - she has to go by Emma wholelastname!

Jane

DGD's name is on the top ten list (although her parents spelled it differently) -but back when she was born (she just turned 9) it wasn't very common at all..

I like all the names - the girls and the boys!

DD made the UK list

I like traditional class names

I have a
Michael born in 2000
Sarah born in 2003
and
Jessica born in 2004

Hmm... no Christopher, so I'm safe for now. I really do like Emily for a name, but everyone here seems to be an Emily. So far, when we have another baby, it will either be Nicholas Edwin or Kathleen Elaine. I know they're a bit different combinations, but we want to name the next baby after our parents somehow.

Neither of my kids names are in the top 10. We purposely picked names that were traditional but not in the top 10-15 because we didn't want every other kid to have that name. DS is named Nathan and we went the entire time he was in preschool without a single other Nathan. When he started K this year out of a total of 55 K students at his school there are 5 Nathan's including one of them in his class. :sad2: I guess for some reason it was a very popular name locally that year.

DD's name is Allison and we call her Allie. We have not met another Allie or Allison but there are an awful lot of Addie's, Maddie's and Abbie's running around and they all start to sound the same after a little while. ;)
