Popular Baby Names in 2007

In 2000 when Margaret was born her name was 110 on the list. In 2002 when Shannon was born her name was 182 on the list. I love their names and wasn't concerned about popularity but I am somewhat relieved they probably won't have to share with too many other girls.

I wouldn't use any of those names myself. Don't care for 'em. But obviously tastes vary widely :)

My Jack is really Jonathan and I wish we had just named him Jack... it really fits him.

I wanted to name him Jonathan, and call him that, but DH didn't want him to end up being called John, and spell it Jon, so we finally agreed on John (his dad's name is John), but to call him Jack. It fits him MUCH better than Jonathan would've! :thumbsup2

I know someone who has a daughter named Micah.

Yeah, some "trendy" parents always jack the good boy names for girls. It's been a boy's name since the Old Testament though (which is why we chose it, OT names are very popular in our sons birth country, Ethiopia and we wanted a name that would be recognized here and there). Luckily all the ones we know are boys. It spiked in about the 90's as a girls name (still never made into the top 100 or even 500) but has solidly reemerged as a boys name in the 2000's. Right now their are even some popular tv shows with Micah's (guys). We call him Mike or Mikey for short. But his favorite is Micah Mouse. :)

I've always loved the name Isabella; it was my great-aunt's name. I'm definitely a fan of well-established names as opposed to trendy, made-up names or crazy spellings.

My DD is Audrey, definitely not very common around here and I don't even think it is in the top 50 or so.
I love Jack, but it is our dog's name. Ava is beautiful but is very popular around here.

When my Jackson was born the name was around 80th-90th on the list. I thought good! I love the name Jackson but I didn't want to name my son a popular name.

We actually only know one other Jackson in his whole school, not bad for
900+ kids!

I knew Jackson was getting popluar because I see it a lot on recent birth annoucements in the papers but I didn't realize it broke into the top 10.

I really don't care for any of the other boys names.
I do like Olivia and Isabella on the girls side, but if I were naming a girl right now I would avoid them just because they are so popular.

I had a friend named Audrey in jr. high. I've always loved that name.:goodvibes

Our cat's name is Bailey. More than once, at the vets office, a child (upon asking his name) has exclaimed, "that's my name, too!"

I taught kindergarten, and I had to pull the kids' files to figure out if many of them were boys or girls. It was kind of tough on those kids.

None of my kids names are on the list. Olivia was my first choice for one of my daughters, but DH hated it. My youngest was going to be Jack if she were a boy.

When my oldest dd was born in 1999 no one had heard of the name Madison. In fact most people thought it was stupid and made fun of us. We loved it because it was unique. Now it's in the top 10. :sad2:

My youngest dd was born in 2004 and her name is Teagan. Not too much chance of that showing up on the list. (I hope)

Next door neighbor's 1 year old is named Teagan. I had never heard of the name before. She's expecting, and it'll be #5.....they're all T names. It's always fun to listen to the list of potentials she's considering.

I know someone with a 3yo named Teagan. Their youngest is named Madison or Addison I forget which

When Cassidy was born in 1992 she was the only one (or so we thought). Turns out Kathie Lee Gifford named her daughter that too. Then when Cassidy was in preschool (a huge preschool.....40 total classes) we found a little boy with her name...born on her birthday. :upsidedow But he has been the only one in the same school with her. Now there are a lot more little ones named Cassidy.

Abigail is a bit more popular but still not that many and certainly none with Abi as their nickname...spelled that way. Her sister named her and both names fit the girls to a T.

the boys names are more along with what my girls would have been had they had boy parts.

Just remember even if you name your child a top 10 name (which Abigail is consistently) doesn't mean it will be popular in your area.

We have a family friend born in 1995 named Madison. Her parents got it from Splash. In 1999 it was #8, so very popular, but I guess just not in your area?

Teagan is now 424. In 2004 it was 523, so it's getting more popular.

Good grief. My poor girls. :sad2: Well, so far I have not met anyone else with a Teagan, but poor Madie, well she'll just have to hate for naming her such a trendy, common name. In her tiny little school (100 kids btwn, K-4th) there are 3 Madisons. It's a family curse I guess, I am Jennifer, there are millions of us. ;)

#8?!? WOW, I had no idea. It was not that popular in this area at all.In fact, most people we told had such a negative reaction to it that we wouldn't tell anyone the names we had picked out for the second child. We learned our lesson the hard way.

Teagan at 424 at least gives her a few years to get ahead.

She should be fine. :) My kids names are in the 150 range, and they have rarely had another child with the same name in their class, actually, now that I think about it they were usually the only ones in their grade. At 424 she'll probably be the only Teagan. It is a cute name, by the way!!!
