FAQ
What size is the fridge? How much will it hold?

What happens after you tell me my dates are available?
I'll send you a PM, or post on this thread, if your dates are available and at that time I will
pencil you in. Then I'll need you to send me (by PM is great) your full name, ressie #, check-in date, and a contact phone number (while you're at WDW if you'll have a phone, otherwise your home number) I need your number in case I need to contact you if there are any problems with the swap. I will then change you to
confirmed.

Then what?
Then you will need to contact the swappers, before and after, you to exchange information and arrange the swap. Hopefully, if your dates overlap, you can arrange a personal handoff and keep the fridge out of storage.
Depending on how far off your trip is, and if there is a gap before, or after, you you may want to hold off for awhile setting everything up. Things have a habit of changing and even those who are confirmed have changes in plans.
If I need to pick it up from POP storage, what do I do?
Oh, good question!
After you check in at POP you will want to go to POP luggage services which is located outside the main entrance (under the big cover) just to the right. This is the same place where you can borrow a luggage cart and also where you do your airline check-in (if you're flying home). Give the CM your information (name, ressie #, check-in date) and they will locate the fridge for you. Don't worry if they don't immeadiately find it, as it has been reported that at first they don't find it and then it "magically" appears minutes later. Also, some swappers have waited until they've reached their room and then called luggage services and had them deliver it (for a small tip $
). If you need to describe the box, it has lime green mickey heads all over it as well as my name (Terri B) with a notation "if unclaimed, contact Terri B, at 951/...-.... I am hoping to get a picture from a swapper of the actual box so I can post it here.
ADDED 4/11/07 luvdisneyalways reported back to me that ME (Magical Express) actually delivered the fridge to their room. So that's another option if you are using ME
How do I leave it a POP storage if there is a gap between me and the next swapper?
You will tape a piece of paper to the box that says something like "Hold for guest (name), ressie #, and check-in date. Then you can have luggage services pick it up or take it their yourself. Either way, make sure to get a
claim ticket, or receipt, for the fridge-Very important! A claim ticket was instrumental in our getting a replacement fridge when POP admitted to losing our original fridge towards the begging of the swap. This is also the reason you want to have the phone number of the swapper who left it for you in case you need to contact them.
What do I do if they can't find it?
Okay, first thing, don't panic. The few times the fridge was temporarily missing, it was found. With the exception of the one time mentioned above-the replacement fridge was given to the swapper the next day.
What if I can't contact that swapper, how can I contact you?
The best way to reach me is by phone. If you want my number, send me a PM and I will send it. Remember if you need to call me that I am in California and 3 hrs. behind Florida. I can be reached between 10 a.m. est (7 a.m. pst) and up until midnight est (9 p.m. pst) Absolutely no calls after 10 p.m. pst (house rule-thanks!) A less quick, if you have computer access, would be to send me a PM or an email. However, I don't check these everyday, so this may take a day, or so, for me to respond. I can also provide you with a fax number-the fax is in my home and on 24 hrs. a day. So far, I have only had to get involved in locating the fridge one time and one other time I had to contact a swapper while there to straighten out some arrangements. Most likely, you will not have to contact me at all.
What do I do when I get the fridge?
Unpack the fridge and leave the box intact, if possible. At this point the box is showing signs of wear. box but it is getting ragged. When I started the swap I kept the box intact and just put it on the closet shelf with the opening facing out so I could put things in it (didn't lose valuable storage space this way and actually added a semi-shelf-the box). It will extend the box's life span if everyone would do the same. The more often the box is collapsed, the more it falls apart. Also, if anyone has any ideas to keep the box intact, let me know.

Really, I enjoy helping fellow disboarders have a more magical trip. If I can help you save some money on a fridge rental (that you can spend on something else at Disney) then that makes me happy!
I have gotten alot of helpful information on this board that has saved me, and my family, time and money. Also, now it's a challenge to see how long it can last. I'm going back in Sept. and it would be really cool
if I was able to use the fridge again. And my mom would love it if we didn't have to stop off at
Walmart on our way in. Last time, even though we landed at 10 p.m., by the time we left Walmart and arrived at POP it was after 1 a.m.! I can't tell you what took so long!
Is there anything extra with the fridge?
Yes, Faboolis added an electric kettle a few months ago. Make sure when you pack up the fridge that you put the kettle inside. Also, in June, Shannon will be adding a toaster. However, this won't fit in the fridge so it will be in it's own box. Make sure when the swap is over you give the next swapper both boxes. If Shannon, or someone after her could write "Box 1 of 2" and Box 2 of 2" on the boxes, that would make things a little easier. Thanks to Shannon for replacing the toaster which was originally with the first fridge but was a casuality of the POP switcheroo.
What's the best way to defrost the fridge?
We were leaving first thing in the a.m. so what I did was emptied the fridge the night before, unplugged it, and put a towel inside to catch the melted ice. I also left the door open a little. The next a.m. it was completely defrosted. If you are leaving later in the day you could unplug it in the a.m.-it doesn't take to long to defrost.
Do I need to bring anything for the fridge?
I don't know what is currently with the fridge so if you are concerned about cleaning the fridge you can bring some cleaning sheets. Just pack a few paper towels with some soap in a ziploc and that should work fine. Also, I would bring the piece of paper with the next swappers info already filled out, to tape on the box. Some tape to attach it, also.
Is there a charge for the fridge?
No, the fridge was paid for by the first swappers. It's free.
What happens if gets lost during my time, or it breaks?
At some point, this will happen. At that point the swap will be over and I will post that on the thread. If it ends with you, just let me know asap so I can let those behind you know. And hey, it was a good run while it lasted.
What's my obligation, if I join this swap?
By joining this swap you agree to make your own arrangements for the swaps and to do the swaps as arranged. You also agree to notify me if anything happens with the swap, while you have the fridge. Additionally, you agree to clean (wipe out) the fridge, before you swap it.
What should I do before I go?
I recommend checking with this thread, and your swappers about 2 weeks before you go to make sure you have the most current info. I do try to notify eveyone involved when there is a change, but please check here, before you leave (and before the swapper in front of you leaves)

Note to those looking at this list.
Penciled in means that someone has asked for a specific date and I have penciled them in and am waiting for a confirmation back (whether by thread posting or PM). Once I receive the confirmation, I change them to
confirmed. So, penciled in doesn't mean that their plans are unsure, it just means they haven't confirmed back with me. That being said, even
confirmeds sometimes change.
FYI-if you're interested in joining the swap, please don't contact other swappers until I've let you know if you are in, or not. Thanks :
AND MORE FYI Due to some recent problems with a last minute drop out, I am instituting a
no "last minute" changes rule. If you agree to participate in the swap, you
absolutely,
can not drop out (unless due to trip cancellation) if the
swapper you are picking up from is already at WDW.
This jeopardizes the whole swap! You need to be considerate of all the swappers to come after you (as well as me). Also, I will no longer be accepting last minute swappers who have two, or less, swappers, before the time they are requesting. I have posted the deadlines for those swap dates that are getting close. This is not a rant, and I'm still, for the most part, enjoying doing this.
