Mascara - MAC's is fabulous AND cheap $10, but then Timmy sent me a sample of Estee Lauders Mascara - I dont know whether to thank her, or shake my fist at her. Its UNREAL! Lashes like movie stars...and $28.50 :sad2:

 :faint:

well Missy it must be your lucky stars... I jsut saw in todays Sunday paper that Estee is having gift time again... My dmom loves their Cinnabar :faint: and when it is gift time "we" the children of the leader of the tribe goes out and buy her the said perfume. Dmom only uses the lipstick and of course the free pouch so I will make sure to grab the mascara before the nieces get a hold of it :thumbsup2 and mail it your way!

answer for the QOTD:

used to wear make when I was in my 20's kinda got tired of wearing it so now am a wash and wear woman... I was my face in the morning with foaming cleanser, toner and a moisturizer with spf 30, and do the same before going to bed.

and PJ I am surprised about your ways in your teenage days  :rolleyes1

PJ, you are so funny!!!

Anywho, see, I like makeup that stays on. And I don't really like the whole "my makeup looks so natural that it doesn't look like I am wearing any". Just me personally. I don't wanna look like a tranny though. KWIM?

I got turned onto Clinique YEARS AGO and it just stuck. That is totally how I am. But getting older sucks. I want my blush to stay put, my liner to NOT go under my eyes, mascara to not vanish. I have seen the bare minerals commercials but honestly I always am thinking, if they are brushing the foundations, etc, on then how in the heck does it last more than an hour? KWIM?

I just feel a change acomin' and I need to keep up. I'm just gettin older ladies...

Nanu, what Cat said about SAHM is totally right. You will love it.

When people ask me about becoming SAHMs, I usually only worry about the fact that they are going from a paying, tangibly rewarding, feel-important job to one that rocks but can seem very underappreciated to people who have spent serious time in a career. It can get moody.

I know you will love it though. Good days will be great, and bad days we are here for you. Welcome to the team. :cool2:

Good grief you all can talk!

Michelle - Talk to Lori. I know that GOOD pictures do cost more than say Sears. But I think she could give you some more realistic prices. She charges no where near what she is worth, but for some reason those prices seem a bit high. I ordered a gift for my Mom and it was VERY reasonable. We did a product swap. Her new robe for my pictures, but still.... Like someone else said, you should fly her up for a day and go that route. You would NOT be disappointed!

Rebecca - Enjoy being a SAHM! You will love it and have no regrets, I promise. You'll find ways to make money if that is something you really want to do.

Chris - I will PM you with my #.

Makeup - I now wear Bare Minerals. Which I LOVE!!!! My other favorite is Origins. But it is way out of my price range at the moment. I am a mascara addict though. I could give up almost anything but a good mascara. Oh and chap stick or gloss.

Cat - I am sorry about them "over there" Why do you even read it???

I don't remember what everyone else said....I'll have to go reread.

QOTD:

What kind of makeup do you use?

Well, I don't really wear makeup. But if I'm having a bad day I used to wear Bare Escentuals before DH spilled it on the floor.

I totally missed your SAHM post:goodvibes
Thanks for the kind words
I might DVC!!! They have specials through August 1st at the store that arent even being offered at WDW. Its JUST a thought.... but hell, Im going to Disney twice a year now, buying AP's....why the heck, not??? And then Ill bring you guys, too! :dance3:

My parents DVC...and they said the deal they have now is better than the deal they had when they bought over a year ago.

Yeah, I worry about withdrawal...like you know how you feel when the internet is cut off?

Yeah, I worry about withdrawal...like you know how you feel when the internet is cut off?

I HATE that feeling!!

Now, remember to still take care of yourself. It will help you still feel like a human, like the fabulous woman that you are. Get more bare escentuals or whatever. Paint your nails. Don't lose yourself. KWIM? Rock mommyhood.

We're back...that place is just NUTS! I bought way too much stuff...a new desk...which I'll post a pic of once I get it together.....hahah & tons of other little things I just couldn't live without!

ok about the sahm mom thing....another vote for it from me. Like Cat, I practically missed Casey's childhood. I worked full time AND was in grad school until she was 8 months old. I was a crisis therapist at a hospital, when she was 6 weeks old there was a horrendous train accident here (in Fox River Grove). a school bus left it's butt hanging on the train tracks & got whacked, 7 kids died. My boss, had JUST had her baby 2 days earlier, a baby girl that was stillborn...the president of the hospital came to our house and begged me to come back to work. I worked at Cary-Grove High school as a crisis counselor for months. My point here is that I stopped b'feeding her, and she went into full time day care at 6 weeks old. I continued to work full time until Patrick was born.....then when he died..it REALLY hit me. Working was crap! I didn't want to miss anymore. So I dropped down to part time, gave up the golden director job...then pregnant with Grace I said - i'm done...& walked out the day before Casey started Kindergarten and have never looked back.

ok that being said...YES I miss working sometimes. It was so nice to talk to adults, to help people, and to have a 50/50 marriage. Since the day I quit, MIke has done less and less and less aroudn her and as a caregiver parent. Yes it makes me mad as heck, but I've tried to change that...I miss making my own money, I miss buying whatever I want for ME, but for me the tradeoff is 110% worth it. I didn't miss a minute of Gracie's childhood (well except for the minutes that I needed to lock myself in the bathroom because she was driving me crazy).

wow, that was a much bigger soapbox than I thought it would be

another bare escentuals make up user here...

although....my lupus reddness seems to be getting worse the older I get....I'd like to try something new...that would cover it up better.

Hiya we're back! Tia, thanks for the tips on the photography. I asked around with some of the 'regulars' at the auction house and they all said that this photographer is the one that almost all of Rockford uses for their 'big' stuff and if I went through a smaller photographer I would get more realistic prices and BETTER hours  I was a bit SHOCKED at sticker price!

Alright let's see.....I got a bunch of old buttons, which I am thrilled with and the pinball machine went higher than I wanted to pay, which I know made me the bad guy, but heck it was not really something we needed....buttons were only $5, so i win  we got a couple ofther great pieces and it was a lot of fun just chatting with people! It was sooo rainy today!!

Make-Up In High School i was a CLinique user, but while shopping one day Estee Lauder had an AMAZING gift bag and my dad got it for me and i was hooked! Now i'm addicted to their neutral tones with touches of pink. In the summer, i get pretty dark, sO i don't use too much, but like CAT i'm addicted to the mascara!! So I use that and some gloss and i'm done. I'm not a high maintenance make up person at all, but that has to do with my skin tone :) I use blush and eye line and the like all in the cooler seasons or when i'm going out!

SAHM
Alright, I LOVE LOVE LOVE being a SAHM and really would never NOT do it, esp while they are soo small. I am most likely in the minority, but I do get bored with it. YES i love my kids, YES i love being with them and NOT missing a thing, & yes we have a great schedule, BUT i'm sometimes in DIRE need of using my brain ;) like I said i'm in the minority and there are tons of people that will contradict me, but it's my honest opinion. My business has helped me out tons and the craft shows too. NOW my big thing is that my husband is home so much more and he is 100% hands on all the time, that I sometimes wonder if I should work during his off times, just to DO something  BUT then I would miss spending time together as a family and that is everything to us. We grew up in houses that had parents that worked too much (MIL was a single mom that had to work and my parents loved to work) and much of our care was left to grandparents. We remember weekends of doing nothing but sitting around b/c our parents were tired and over worked or in my case at work again. We knew what kind of parents we wanted to be B4 we had kids and I love being able to be there for them!! I think the best part is that they are talking now and we are on a whole new level of stuff we can do, so that is helping soooooo much more, in what we do during the week! I love what I do and consider myself 100% lucky that Sals job allows me to do so :)
(although if I ever decided to get back in the game, I think Sal would probably be a better SAHP that I am! He says he would like to get the chance some time!! so who knows ;) )

Alright the answer was long, sorry! In the end it's FABULOUS to be there for everything and I can always tell that Sal is hurt when he sees that the kids have learned something new and he missed it :sad1:

Michelle -
Do you mind passing on the name of the photographer you are going to use ? I know of quite a few photographers that charge that much for photos, but if a wall portrait is what you want than you should really find someone to do it ? Where are you located again ? I may be able to find someone in your area that does on location like I do and come to your home ! :cool1: I bet there prices might be a bit more in your price range !
The photographer I absolutely adore happens to be here in Colorado. Her session fee just to show up is $250 and her 8X10's start at $650 :scared1: But, my goal is to one day own a portrait of my children by her !
I am so not a sears or JCPenney person ( even though I used to be !). I am a BIG picture person myself. Once you start getting the wall portraits there is no going back. The trend now is to actually not frame them and just have them mounted on styrene ( very hard plastic). I took some quick cell phone snaps so you could see some of my walls. I am currently in the process of redoing my office as well, then my bedroom is next.

IMG00064.jpg

My living room wall. The small ones are actually 8X10 and others are 16X20 and larger

IMG00066.jpg

Down one of my hallways - again 16X20's

IMG00067.jpg

Front entrance way - the wall portrait is 24X30 I think.

What you need to do is pick the wall you want your portrait to go on and work around it.

So many people get set in the mentality that an 8X10 is a wall portrait. But if you really think about it the normal upper part of a calendar is 11X14 and people don't even blink about putting those up :rotfl:

Tia - I hope your mom will like your gift. I don't think you ever told me. Did Terry ever get to see them ? You're making me blush :rolleyes1

QOTD - I am not a high maintenance makeup person. But when I do wear it - it is MAC all the way. I wouldnt give it up for the world. I have heard great things about Bobbi Brown though.

Hi Lori

I defiantely want to do an 'in-studio' shot as opposed to my insane house  There would just be nowhere to do it here and my kids would def. NOT be good if on their own 'turf' :lmao:

This photographer is Mueller Photography Studios I want to want to want to say that it's Rockford, but if i take one step to the left i'm in Machesney Park, one step to the right i'm in Cherry Valley! hahaha So you never know :) But i'm considered Rockford. We looked at a studio ibn Janesville that I liked, but it was too far, considering I am doing it like 2 weeks before the baby is due! I really want to be at the 'end' and get the full size of the belly :) With Gabriel I swear i kept growing until the minute he came out!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE those shots like that!! we were def. thinking of getting them framed, but I want them matted and framed together, as like a set of me being pregnant :)

But that frameless look is soooo cool!!! I almost wish I had that done with our wedding protrait!!

Chris! I went to this bitty scrapbooking store here in town and it's pretty low key and looks like it's personally owned by like one person or something like that and they have an entire section of layouts done by other people (12x12) & priced at 5.99 a page. They were sooo cute and all the non-crafty person had to do was add their own pictures.

Anyways what I'm getting at is that if you did a couple layouts like that in like a WDW theme (maybe one page for each park) and list it on EBAY, with the right KEYWORD title, I bet you could make some excellent money!!

grrrr.....i gave in to temptation and started scratching my belly :( :furious: now i can't stop....grrrrr................I was doing so good!

QOTD- I wear all different kinds of makeup. I do use alot of Mary Kay, but also use Cover Girl Lash Exact for mascara, Mac eyeshadow and lipsticks, and just a ton of other stuff. If I like the shade, I just buy it!

When we were trying to decide what size pic we wanted to hang, I cut out paper in the sizes and taped them on the wall. I agree with Lori, you will probably want bigger than you think once you get something hung there. I wouldn't have wanted to go any smaller with Jul's and I am even glad the matting added a little more size.

DMM, I feel ya. I am now the only SAHM in Jul's class. For real. There is a dad but he is kinda weird. Anyway, I feel like I have not used my brain in forever!! Sometimes I think I forgot how. But staying home is the best.

I like the clinique but I feel like I want to branch out. I think I might order that Bobbi Brown sampler set. I just love makeup. Lipstick can change your life. :)
