Popeyes chicken sandwich. Is it that good?

all this chicken talk made me go to the food court in my building at get KFC. LOL. Where only downtown does the $5 fill up actually cost $5.5 (pre tax).

All you mentioning your love for Cane's, I'm curious, are you also fans of CFA? I find both of them bland and boring and I enjoy Cane's less than I do CFA. The cane's nearest me share a parking lot with Portillos, so my kids go there and me and the DH go to Portillos. win win for all.

I like them all in different ways. Popeyes to me is the best. I like CFA & Canes, but only b/c I like their sauces. If I had to eat either of those 2 w/o sauce, I wouldn't.

The Popeyes by my house has had the chicken sandwich since May and I have had it many times. Yes, it is good - very good. But it is not wait 2 hours good. The social media frenzy has been ridiculous and just goes to show you how influential it can be. I am bummed that they are out of stock for a while and look forward to having one when it returns.

What's that? When I asked for hot sauce all I got was packets of Louisiana brand hot sauce with Popeyes labeling.

It's a different sauce - it comes in one of those dipping packages that you peel the top off of. It's not particularly spicy, but like a sweet barbecue sauce with a kick. "Hot Sauce" almost always refers to that Louiasina/Tabasco style sauce. I believe if you get tenders they will offer. They have some other kinds too.

Last week, I was craving some really good, honey dipped fried chicken. You know, the kind that is actually kinda encased by the fried part, and it's super crunchy? It's hard to find this exactly! Not like Popeye's, which is crispy but in a fall apart way. The last time I had it was at Honey's Kettle in LA and it was perfect! I wish I knew of a place in NYC that had it, I tried a new fried chicken place last week and it wasn't even close.

This is what proper fries and gravy look like. KFC makes a great gravy, Popeye’s is more like a spicy sort of pan-sauce. Does CFA serve gravy?

KFC opens a fantastic can of gravy! 8-)

We don't have fries at KFC here. No problem because KFC mashed potatoes and gravy are the best. Especially scooping it up with a Nashville hot chicken tender.

Tabasco is noticeably different though. Louisiana/Frank's/Crystal are all similar red cayenne sauces to me.

Not related to Popeyes, but around here I'm more likely to find a Mexican hot sauce like Cholula or a Mexican style one like Tapatio.

Ha! No mashed potatoes or Nashville hot chicken here. Not even extra-crispy chicken. Just regular fried chicken, popcorn chicken or chicken tenders.

Well - thinking about chicken and I'm not sure if anyone can beat Costco for a great bargain. And the chicken is really tender and well seasoned. I've seen other places like a local supermarket trying to sell something similar, but they can't beat the price. I've seen whole rotisserie chicken from this supermarket called Winco Foods for the same $4.99 price, but it's maybe half the size. Plus at Costco they're churning them out so fast that they're rarely sitting under a heat lamp for two-ten hours getting dry.

That's what I like least about CFA. 😄 I hate that they only put pickles on and the pickle flavor taints the chicken and the bun even after you take the pickles off.

I actually like pickles by themselves, but find the pickle flavor too overpowering when they're in something else. I want to taste chicken, not pickles.
