POP'ers who have bonded - (new home!)

She was playing in front of her house with some friends, she began to complain about being dizzy, she sat in the family car to rest and another boy about 13 said she took a nap, i have a feeling she passed right there. It was a warm day and a neighbor decided that she was a sleep in the car for about 45 minutes and that she should go wake her up and tell her to go into her house to sleep, due to the fact that it was a warm day.

When the neighbor tried to wake her, she just slumped over in the back seat. Thats when 911 was called and we got there. According to her parents she had been to the doctor that morning for comaplints of dizzyness and in the last month she been been being working up by multible doctors for unexplained episodes of passing out.

We got the run as a "rescue" who ever called 911 said that she was not breathing and locked inside the car by herself. This is 3 blocks from the fire house, so it only took us less than 2 minutes to pull on scene.Plus the fact that i was driving and really moving, since it was a kid.

So terribly sad.

Hi all,

All right gang, i need your help. I'm lost or not figuring out something right, maybe you guys have an better idea on this.

My flight going home from disney to nyc, has been pushed back 11 minutes, right. Stay with me, so instead of a 7pm flight home, it's now a 7:11 flight home, right? So originally we were supposed to land at nyc at 9:40, right? So add 11 minutes to that and you get 9:51, right?? Well according to the e-mail i got from jetblue, my flight now lands at nyc at 11:35 pm.

I checked its a non-stop flight, So why does an 11 minutes later depart time = a 2 hour later arrival time?? Any ideas??????? I'm confused by this and even called them and basiclly got told it lands at 11:35, but the lady on the phone said she had no idea why its so much later than the 11 minute later depart. So my 2 hour and 45 minute normal flight time, gets a 4 hour and 25 minutes flight time, because of a 11 minute difference or later depart from orlando????? Any ideas??????

PJ--That's crazy. My guess is the flight will be changed another 2 hours later. Any idea what to wear to a club when I'm in NYC? Nothing skanky, but I've never been to a club, except at WDW on my honeymoon.

He's convinced some guy is going to drug me, and that the large group of friends I'm with is going to ignore the fact that I'm leaving with some guy even though I've been happily married for 6 years with a kid. So PJ, you're gonna have to give me your cell # so if I get in trouble you can hop on a firetruck and rescue me.

What kind of club are you going to? That will make a difference. Knowing me, I would wear whatever the heck I wanted. Jeans and a cute top, but that's just me.

At least he loves you and is concerned! I guess a certain level of worry is sweet, but those things could happen anywhere to be honest. So unless you live in a bubble, you can't be protected all the time.
At least you have PJ there! Although, will your hubby feel better that a stranger fromt he internet is your bakcup plan?
You may just have to call and check in every hour. I don't see an easy way around this.

Nanu - Dark jeans are fine.... a cute top, but like.... not cute like WDW cute - I'd personally go with black, charcoal, or white - maybe even cream. And heels....no exceptions.

My number is 911, Ok here's some tips. Do not leave any drink unattended, if some guy or even girl( hey, this is Nyc ) Seems like they are being too nice and wants you to go with them some where, even the bathroom, do not trust anyone!!!!!!! Unless of course it is one of the girls that you got there with, i mean don't trust anyone like strangers.

Honesly we are really depressed we are missing the Mnsshp for the first time in like 4 years, heres where i got those dates from. Last years ds's school gave us a lot of grief about taking him out of school for 4 days to go, they even went as far as to call the district office here in nyc, because ds is a good student if was brushed aside. Dw and myself did'nt want to have to have to deal with the school again, i swear ds's principle is a former neo-nazi death camp general! So these are the last dates of summer vacation for ds. Trust me i would love to go with all of you and do the mnsshp, but these dates are the best we could do , around ds's school scheduled.

a NEW CAR!!!! ok, so I sorta knew we were gonna buy one...

We got a 2008 Toyota Highlander, with gps! hahah no more getting lost for me! it's black,moonroof, total bells & whistles...NOT what I was used to in my 2000 honda crv...which my lovely husband traded in WITH MY STICKERS AND LISCENSE plate holder ON it!!!!!!!!! HELP ME! WHo's going next? I need the license plate frame!!!! The other stuff I can get later...Oh yea & my lovely new car doesn't have a real antenna????? WTH? So who would like my collection of toppers? I have about 8 or 9 I think....other than my general i'm disney bummed, I love the car. I have to order a new skater sticker, soccer sticker and scrappin thing....

What do you guys think I should do about NYC? I got the final plan...bar hopping Friday night, then the SATC tour on Sat afternoon, then dinner, a club for a strip show and then normal club. I'm not going to the strip show, but now I'm stressing about the bar hopping, because the first one has a snobbish door policy. I think I'm fabulous enough to get in, but I don't have fabulous clothes or know how to wear makeup, so I'll get bounced at the door. I'd feel obligated to still help with the hotel, even if I don't go...its just not my scene. I was really looking forward to having a good time with friends, but they are all used to partying, and I"ve never really been.

If it makes you feel any better - Im used to partying and clubbing, and at this point in my life, I'd rather have my toenails pulled off with plyers. I hate snobby door policies, too.

What if you got your makeup and/or hair done that afternoon? It might cost a little more, but make you feel better about the whole thing. And tell them youre clubbing later - make you funky.

I think Timmy has moved on. She is very active on that Mojito thread. (Cat's thread from last year that has lasted this long)

Here is what I would do. I would still go to New York! For me it is something I have always wanted to do so I would not miss the opportunity. I am not into the club scene at all, so that would really not be my thing. UNLESS it was a jazz/martini bar or something along those lines. So what I would do is research discounted tickets for a Broadway show. In Vegas they have ticket offices that sell discounted seats for that night's performances. I guess they figure if the seat isn't sold by then they might have to sell it at a discount, but they are still getting something for it. I am surePJ would have some info on that. I would rather go see a great show than bar hop and I would not mind going alone.
And you ARE fabulous! But if you have to put all of that pressure on yourself just to try to get through the door, for me it would not be worth it.

I AM JEALOUS you get to do the SATC tour. I have wanted to do that for years. The night of the strip club (which I would probably not go to either... I am kind of a fuddy duddy I guess) I would probably go see another show. I saw those Mary Poppins tickets for like $75. Well buying new clothes, cover charges and drinks you will have probably spent more than the $75. I would go to a great little cafe or something right there off of Broadway and then go to a show!

GO AND HAVE FUN! You don't have to be part of the big crowd to have a blast. Make your own fun.

Rebecca, I would still go if you felt obligated to pay for the hotel room. If you are paying already, you may as well go I like the ideas that Tia threw at you, but you should probably go to at least one club with them (follow Cats advice! A great style before hand will give you tons of confidence!!) since you are actually with them. After that, just tell them you are tired and not used to the club scene Be honest, and heck you never know, there may be others that feel the same way!!

Rebecca - I second what everyone else has said but if the hotel is really that nice and you feel obligated to pay for the room then I would go. If everyone else is out running around clubbing you could also just take a bubble bath and curl up with a good book and a glass of wine for a little bit of alone time ! Sounds crazy but a girl has got to have alone time every know and then too !! I hope you figure it out. Don't try and overthink it too much !!

Okay, I've got it all figured out: Arrive about 5 on Friday and walk 10 blocks to hotel. If stuff doesn't fit comfortably in backpack, get over my fear of taxis.

Eat dinner with bride-to-be. Alone. Without any naked guys or mean bouncers.

Friday night--say CYA to everyone else and their crazy debauchery. Read a book. Maybe if I'm feeling up to it, going to the first bar with them. BIG maybe.

Saturday AM-Eat an apple and some peanut butter that I so smartly packed for breakfast. Maybe a cereal bar too. Drunk people will be too hungover to eat.

Saturday lunchtime--Sex and the City Tour. Free cupcake involved.

Saturday dinner--Buddha Bar. Wearing burnt sienna dress with sandals. Hope the color won't be out of place. And the bouncer doesn't bounce me. Stick with one entree or 2 apps, no drinks as they are $15 a piece here.

Saturday evening-Say CYA to the others and their naked men strippers. Get wine with my book this time. (Where do you buy wine in NYC?)

Sunday morning--wake up early and leave, say goodbye to the other two who may be hungover. Maybe they'll be so drunk one will volunteer to sleep on the floor (remember the 3 people in a 2-twin bed room issue). Probably walk around NYC, get a muffin, and catch my train at 11. Sound fun?
