We had trick or treat night last night. Because it would make too much sense to have it on Halloween.

DD went to a few houses, but she was too cold so we came home. Note: next year, she should be an eskimo. She most enjoyed handing out candy. In face, when we went to go out to trick or treat, she filled up her bag with candy to hand out to the other houses. Two weird things... most kids would see DD and take off their masks so as not to freak her out. Even 8 year olds would do this. We had some high school kids stop by with scream masks on, didn't remove them. They only got 1 piece of candy. Then, you all know Halloween etiquette, if the porch light is off, then don't knock there. Trick or Treat was from 6-8. About 8:10 we shut off our porch light and shut off the foyer light. At 8:37 ring ring ring ring ring. Come on!!! I had plenty of candy, but I wanted to yell at the mom "Hello"?!?! Trick or treat ended 40 minutes ago, AND our light was off! But I couldn't. Because she was in a car. Some parents will drive their kids to as many neighborhoods as possible during the evening. It really bothers me because they will just drive along the street slowly while the kids walk from house to house. I understand if you don't live in a development...just park the car and walk. But development hopping isn't fair. Okay, I feel so much better now after this rant. And, to reward anyone who read it all...I'll share a secret: I'm "with child" again!

hahah we never follow the trick or treat hours, but that's because they end at 6! I mean all the parents are just getting home then!

Hi gang,
One of my guys is sick and really bad. This is one of my own from my fire house.He was driving home with his wife in the car yesterday and had a seziure. He has never had a seziure in the past and the hospital did a cat-scan. He has a really bad growth in his brain. They are calling it a growth not a tumor, not sure why.

He is undergoing brain surgery in 4 hours, they said they have to take it out right away cause its in a critical part of the brain and is causing too many problems. We all planned to be there, but his family asked us for privacy, so we are respecting the familys wishes.

I'm so nervous, you would think i was having the surgery. He is a good guy, young 27 and just married. We have a action plan in place, the wife is calling one of the guys after the surgery to let him know how it went and then he is calling this one and that one, until the phone call gets to me. Then i am in charge of making a few calls to the other guys to let them know.

We were told he will out of work at least 3 months if not more. His name is matt. I will let you guys know how he does.I am used to being in charge at work, i feel so useless with this. There is nothing we can do.

PJ - that's awful. I wish him a speedy recovery....& that they're able to remove the whole thing safely.

This whole dining thing has me po'd I WANT to make my ADR's NOW - geesh...

Casey's got her Pommie competition in St Charles this weekend....so I'll be schlepping back & forth to watch.

Grace has no school today...apparently some of the schools are poling places & they didnt' want the kids there. So we're going to go vote & then go to breakfast & then go see HSM3 (again)....

70+ again today...yippee....I know I should be outside putting up out Christmas decorations because I know in 3 weeks when I'm supposed to be doing it it's going to be 20 degrees........

ugh ..I just counted...134 days till our trip.......time moves so s l o w l y ...before you get there.....

I'm six weeks today. I'm feeling fine, except when I exert myself (stand too long or whatever) I start to feel nauseated. And sometimes I just don't feel like eating, this is usually in the PM, when I would just be snacking between meals anyway. EDD: 6/30/09

Historical, yes. Amazing..not so much. Well, in my opinion anyway. I was in tears too. I feel uneasy about what is to come. Time will tell. I hope Obama lives up to his promises. (well some of them.)

Good Morning....While you guys were up late, I had been snoozing for hours!!!

I only watched a little bit of the election coverage...then went to bed.....I have to say I felt pretty undecided for the past few months....BUT what I found amazing, is that even here in the Republican love fest of McHenry county...Obama beat McCain by more then 5,000 votes. Even when all of our other offices towed the party line. Mike & I were talking about it the other day...I said that I had never seen so many Dem signs in front yards, & he said a dem would never win McHenry County...in fact it's never happened....well it happened last night. Of course it didn't matter last night nor has it ever mattered with Chicago's votes, Illinois is a blue state....but McHenry county never has been before. I'm just intrigued by the history.....I'm not a big fan of either Obama or McCain....or Bush for htat matter...but I'm amazed at the passion and the energy kicked up by this election. My only hope going into yesterday was that whoever won was able to take that energy & finally do something postivie for all of us with it, not just the folks that earn above or below some arbitrary number of dollars....

Was kinda cool to see Chicago on the news so many times....for something other than a corruption trial or a murder.....
