We had trick or treat night last night. Because it would make too much sense to have it on Halloween.
DD went to a few houses, but she was too cold so we came home. Note: next year, she should be an eskimo. She most enjoyed handing out candy. In face, when we went to go out to trick or treat, she filled up her bag with candy to hand out to the other houses. Two weird things... most kids would see DD and take off their masks so as not to freak her out. Even 8 year olds would do this. We had some high school kids stop by with scream masks on, didn't remove them. They only got 1 piece of candy. Then, you all know Halloween etiquette, if the porch light is off, then don't knock there. Trick or Treat was from 6-8. About 8:10 we shut off our porch light and shut off the foyer light. At 8:37 ring ring ring ring ring. Come on!!! I had plenty of candy, but I wanted to yell at the mom "Hello"?!?! Trick or treat ended 40 minutes ago, AND our light was off! But I couldn't. Because she was in a car. Some parents will drive their kids to as many neighborhoods as possible during the evening. It really bothers me because they will just drive along the street slowly while the kids walk from house to house. I understand if you don't live in a development...just park the car and walk. But development hopping isn't fair. Okay, I feel so much better now after this rant.
And, to reward anyone who read it all...I'll share a secret: I'm "with child" again!
