This may not be the right forum, but since we usually go straight for the popcorn cart on the left(I believe?) when entering MK I kind of consider it an "attraction"...

I somehow missed that Pop Secret has taken over as the official popcorn of WDW. Now I know they are basically just changing the kernels from Orville Redenbacher to Pop Secret and the other ingredients should essentially be the same, but has anyone noticed a difference?

I'm a huge popcorn fan and have always loved Disney's! I even own a popcorn machine and use it once or twice a week! Personally, I feel like Orville Redenbacher sells the better quality kernels, but as long as the taste isn't altered, I'm OK with Disney changing for business reasons.

So, does any one have any feelings on this one way or the other? Does the popcorn taste the same?

I know I'm a bit late to the party on this topic, but I didn't notice any threads on it after the change was made official.

My daughter loved the popcorn at Disney, but this last trip we only bought it a couple of times as there was no taste to it. So they definitely changed it and neither of us liked it.

I'm seeing some mixed reviews...

Most say it's still delicious, but some have noticed the change.

I'll be able to tell you first hand by the end of the month!

I bought the Christmas bucket of popcorn when we went to the Osborne Lights and we all enjoyed it. I didn't notice anything different.

So happy to hear that most everyone thinks it's as tasty as ever!

I'll be there in about 3 weeks to taste for myself! I'll try to remember to update as well!

I had some last month and I did not notice any difference. Then again, Pop Secret is the only brand I buy at home.

Just wanted to update my thoughts after our end of January trip...

I thought the popcorn was still pretty good, but it depended on the location. I feel like it didn't live up to my expectations, but I can't say it wasn't good. I don't think the change to Pop Secret made a difference, but I think the fact that I now have a popcorn machine at home may make me harder to please...

Since my previous trip I bought a popcorn machine for my home and, after many batches of trial and error, I make some great popcorn!

But, like I said, the Disney popcorn varied by location, but it may be my taste that changed rather that the popcorn...

Does Disney still used coconut oil? I remember they did years ago...

I never really liked it because of the saltiness, my kids loved it though, but I doubt if they will mind any change, they seem just as happy with any old bag of microwave popcorn vs. my popcorn lovingly popped on stovetop in a heavy kettle with real butter and Himalayan pink salt, lol.

I don't know if the popcorn in town square is different. There are no longer any benches to sit on while you enjoy the popcorn and atmosphere :confused3

It all tastes good to me! Of course if I'm buying popcorn it is usually because I'm really hungry after skipping breakfast for rope drop and lunch for park fast passes. It tastes pretty good then I'll tell you, and tides me over till my dinner ADR. The Cinderella Coach souvenir "bucket" is a super looking toy and snack all in one for a little girl, too!. Very good price for such a dramatic, large toy!

Get your popcorn on Main Street near City Hall. Then sit in a rocker on the porch at Tony's. Ahh! Wish I was there right now. Sigh.

Only the popcorn seed has changed. All other ingredients have stayed the same. Orville Redenbacher dropped there sponsorship years ago, Disney had just been using generic popcorn seed ever since the gap between sponsors. The popcorn, and salt are all measured by hand. Popcorn is trained the same throughout property but how each individual cast member prepares it is all on them. I personally always followed the book, found it perfect then not to greasy, not to salty, but hot and fresh!

Yeah, there's something about popcorn at Disney...it's like ridiculously better than it should be. I hope it doesn't change.

Tasted exactly as I expected last month. Bought from the stand back in the tent by the Dumbos.

I just returned from DLR and had some popcorn and thought I just had gotten a bad batch (an extraordinary amount of not completely popped corn). When I bought my second one, I noticed the Pop Secret logo. The second one was much better. Don't know if it was psychological, but I thought that the color was a deeper yellow and the taste was slightly different. I am not entirely sure the other ingredients are the same. I would be interested in knowing if only the kernels changed. That being said, I am looking forward to having some when I get to WDW in July.

When we got our stove-top popper, we first tried a jar of Pop-Secret, and then white popcorn from Redenbacher. We found the Pop-Secret better in that it all popped without any unpopped or burnt kernels, and less in the way of shells or partially popped kernels.

Except that I just bought some unrefined coconut oil, and the last batch of Redenbacher came out much, much better than any of the previous batches. Now I can hardly wait till we use it up, so I can try the Pop-Secret in the coconut oil. Previously, I'd been using peanut oil.

I renewed my annual pass and went to HS today. I have not been to WDW in over 6 months. I bought a box of popcorn and it sucked. Really badly. I only ate about half the box and threw it out. Too many unpopped kernals and I think the box would have tasted better. I am going to MK tomorrow and will try another box.

I went to MK yesterday and headed straight for the popcorn vendor on the right after you enter. I had just the opposite experience from Monday. Great tasting bag and I ate every kernel. Ironically the popcorn looked identical. Next time I get a bad box I am returning it.
