We are making our 1st trip home to SSR 12/1-10. I just read on WDWIG
"The Pop Warner Super Bowl (Dec. 5-11) celebrates its 75th annual event and its 10th consecutive year at Walt Disney World Resort with youth football national championships involving more than 60 teams from across the country competing in four age groups from 8 to 14 at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex. More than 70 percent of all current players in the National Football League started their careers in Pop Warner.

In addition to the gridiron competition, close to 300 squads will be ready to strut their stuff during the Pop Warner National Cheer & Dance Championships at The Milk House."

Does this mean there will be tons of pee-wee football players and cheerleaders running amok through out WDW? Just want to know what we should be expecting-it is our 1st Dec trip. thanks in advance.

We've been several times during this event. If I hadn't read about it on these boards, we would not even have known the Pop Warner events were happening. I doubt you will notice the partivcipants at all in the parks - most of the time they will be at the WWOS or at their resort. If you are staying at one of the DVC resorts, I wouldn't give the Pop Warner event a second thought.

I believe most of the Pop Warner kids stay at one of the value resorts and/or one of the moderates. I have read posts that complain about them overrunning the food courts/running around unsupervised at those resorts or on the buses for those resorts.

As with all groups of young people, there are always some who need constant supervison - most are well behaved and no bother. JMHO. YMMV.

My guess is the absolute maximum amount of people those two groups represent would be about 15,000 guests. 15,000 people are a drop in the bucket at WDW.

I was at WDW last year during the event. There was virtually no impact. I forgot the event was even happening except that occassionally I'd see a couple little girls in the parks with their hair in curlers, then I'd remember "oh, yes-Pop Warner!" Don't worry-no problem.
