Anyone travel during Pop Warner Week? We are flying in on 12/5 and the PW Superbowl starts on Monday I believe. We then fly out on 12/12 the Sat. after. I am a little nervous about the airports and ME being crazy busy. Anyone with experience on travel during this event?

We arrive on the 5th and leave on the 12th as well. Any info would be appreciated.

We get in on the 4th and leave on the 12th as well. I can't say I've traveled at the same time, but maybe we did and never noticed. I can't imagine all 64 football teams and however many cheerleaders will all be at MCO arriving and trying to arrive at the same time. We were at "The World" the same week in '03, '06, and again this year. We stayed at ASMo, and POP and NEVER heard a peep from Pop Warner kids or cheerleaders at the resort or at the parks. We're at POR this trip and I know for a fact that there will be some staying there. We'll soon see... :confused3

We go at the same time every year. About 4 years ago we had about 25 cheerleaders from Brick, NJ on our plane from EWR to MCO.. They were well behaved, but very chatty.... They didn't bother us. We had rented a car to go to the resort since DME hadn't started yet.
This year we are not leaving NJ until 12/9, and will only be at Sports 2 nights before we change hotels.

Last year, my friend and I arrived at MCO on the same day the PW families did. I have never, ever seen anything quite like that day. It was probably around 10:30ish when we got to the DME counter. I will say that I thought it would take longer in the checkin line, but they had every single slot being manned. The line was way past the Mears area...so figured it would be an hour in line. It was only about 20 mins. And the wait to board the bus wasn't bad at all...about 5 mins.
But, there were a ton of families milling around. I have never seen so many families there before.

We're travelling the same week, December 5- 13. I'm really glad to hear you've had no bad experiences in the past, Shaws.

A couple of years ago we arrived at about 10 on Saturday morning. Got down to ME desk it was a zoo. The lines were all over I thought we'd be there for a long time. A couple of minutes later the CM's told all the Pop Warner travelers to come to the end of the counter they checked them in there. The line dropped down to about 20 people. We were on a bus in 5 minutes.

This will be our first time using ME as we usually drive down. Should I consider using a towncar service instead?

Last year, we flew from LAX to MCo with 2 PW teams on board the plane. We were delayed taking off while they tried to find space for all the carry-on duffle bags and then while waiting for all the gameboys to be turned off! The flight itself was quiet Of course, we were in FC). We rented a car, so I can't report on ME. -- Suzanne

Here are the dates, they come in spurts but they start to arrive on 12/4
and finish up final competition on 12/12/09.
They have the big party at Hollywood Studios on Wed 12/9.

The party would be after regular park closing???

We will be at WDW the night of 12/9 before our cruise and wanted to see the Osborne Lights that night. Maybe we will just plan something else, I'm sure you would not be able to walk down the street that night :sad1:
