POP vs POR?

We're booked for our first stay at the WDW resort at POR. This is for Jersey week (11/6-11/11).

Just today our travel agent notifies us that she can get us into POP for the same dates for about $700 less.

What would be the pros and cons of a change? We're taking three of the kids (2, 8, 9). The baby is small enough for a port a crib.

Also, we made ressies for the horse and carriage at POR. Would we have to give that up? What would happen to our ADR if we changed? We booked POR through the Disney site and it's paid in full so we'd have to cancel and rebook.

POR has a better pool (with a slide), and a nicer atmosphere. But if we could fit in a value resort and pay $700 less we'd be switching!

Any idea on cancellation charges? That might be a major factor.

did you book a pakcage
we just had this debate at my house but it more than $ it was room
we decided on POP
we know ds6 wants to stay there we have never stayed value so we will see what happens and if we hate it oh well
next year well stay somewhere else

I think it is so difficult to really compare a mod to a value. The same is true for a mod to a deluxe. Also, the entire themeing of the two resorts is so different.

No you would not have to give up your carriage ride. Just because your not staying there does not mean you cannot do the events there. It's like the movies with Chip and Dale at FW, everyone is invited, but you do not have to stay there.

the big thing we noticed was the sinks.

POR has 2 sinks - Pc has one.

two women getting ready in the morning need two sinks.... :rotfl:

I love PC!!!!

$700 less is quite a bit. Would be tempting...but I do think POR is worth the extra if you can swing it. We just got back from our first stay at POR and I loved it ....totally! It was so beautiful. We had an AB section room with a trundle and the space was just fine with a pack n play for my dd. I wouldn't have wanted it any smaller though and POP is smaller. The pool is much nicer at POR with a fun water slide that my kids loved. Plus you get a refrigerator and it also has two sinks and the privacy curtain. I'd keep the POR ressie and hop over and check out POP like I did for future trips.

I'm leaning this way. We've already paid for the POR reservation, so we can swing it. And $700 would be nice (although we'd have to pay to cancel within 45 days, so it wouldn't be quite as nice as I thought).

Anyone know what would happen with my ADR if I cancelled/rebooked at this late date?
