POP - Rooms

According to Deb Wills' site, the 70's have been updated as well with pictures.

Has only the 60's Buildings been refurbished??

I just arrived home today after spending 5 nights at the Pop Century. I requested building 6 which is the 70's, and it was beautifully refurbished. It's the building behind the Mickey phone. The room was spotless and mousekeeping kept it that way. The beds seemed more comfy too! :thumbsup2

I didn't see or hear any remodeling work going on while I was there so I have no idea which building or decade that they are working on at the moment.

Last info we had reliably reported was all of building 6 (which is in the 70s) and some floors in the 80's / 90's section have been redone.

We are just back from Pop and when we were checking in I inquired if we had a refurbished room and we did. We were on the top floor in building 9 overlooking the pool. I was told that at this time all of building 6 and 9 have been refurbished.

Could someone tell me how far the 70's - Building 6 (Preferred rooms)is from the food court and buses. I will be having my grandchildren 5 pirate: & 2 princess: and would like to request a refurbished room but if its too far I would ask for the 60's.

Thanks again Guys!!!!

Preferred rooms in building 6 are, by definition, within 500 feet of Classic Hall (once you're on the ground level. Keep in mind, only 48 of the rooms in this building are preferred; you can request building 6, of course, but with 768 preferred rooms, you have a 1 in 16 chance of getting one.

Does anyone know how close this is to the buses and food court?????????

We were in building 6 in a refurbished room in March. It's just to the left of the 60's buildings. If you come out of the food court, you turn left and walk down the path and it was right by the big fooseball thing in the center courtyard. (That's a very odd sentence to type.) It seemed fairly close to me--maybe a 5 minute walk tops.

All the Preferred rooms in Pop Century, including those in Building 6, are less than 500 feet away from Classic Hall. The food court is inside Classic Hall, and the bus stops are in front of the same building.

To answer your question it is very close.

We like to stay on the opposite side of that across the courtyard, behind the Bigwheel and I can safely say..........."Ah, my feet love it after a long day". LOL

Thanks guys!!!!! I guess I'm a pest!! :flower3: So is it best to call the POP directly or the 800 # for your requests. We already had the travel agent request our Refrig at the time we booked our vacation. Will it be necessary to request that again? Do you think asking for: building #6 upper floor, connecting rooms, refrig too much to ask for??????

You guys are great.

If you booked through a Travel Agent, that TA "owns" your reservation and will need to deal with WDW on your behalf in all aspects of that reservation - including any requests.

The refrigerator isn't a request, since you're paying for it. The fewer and more general your requests, the more likely it is they CAN be met. You probably mean connecting, not adjoining, rooms. Your TA would know this, but the terminology you use is VERY important. You need to determine the order of importance of your requests, and list them that way.

Talk to your Travel Agent.

Does anyone know what in order they are doing the renovations? I like building 3 (in50's), but don't want to request it if it will be under or partly under renos in mid May! Anyone know if 60's is next and then 50's or in what order they are going thru the resort in?!:confused3

There doesn't seem to be an order. They don't seem to be doing complete decades. It probably makes the most sense to decide which is more important to you, and request that.
