I just "held" two rooms at the Pop Century but don't know if that is the way to go or the ASMusic suite - either way - no money given yet - but all the YOUTUBE videos and bad photos of Pop while under obvious construction - I would like to know what it is like now - anyone stayed this year?? Thanks.

Pop is wonderful - what are you talking about?

now they have yet to complete (if it is) the legendary years - but that is across the lake from the Pop that I love!

DH and I LOVE Pop Century. Check out my signature. We had a horrible time at ASMusic. Will NEVER go back no matter what!

I am a deluxe girl all the way and recently stayed at POP. It was a pleasant surprise how nice it actually was. We changed our upcoming trip over to POP and saved a bundle. There was no signs of any construction at the end of July.

We've been to Pop twice and love it!! It's such a fun lively resort!

We stayed in April. I originally had a reservation at All Star Movies. I've stayed at both (I've stayed at all the All Stars) and decided Pop Century was better for us (two adults, no kids).

My in-laws are taking an aunt to Disney World for the first time (the in-laws have been three times) and I suggested Pop Century for them. The aunt saw the web photos of Pop Century and loved the entire thing.

I can tell you that Pop Century is NOT under construction at all. There are a lot of diversions there. The buses are not shared so once you get on one, your next stop will be a theme park. The food court is pretty good as are the pools. The theming is very detailed. It is my favorite value resort, if not my favorite resort overall.

Definitely no construction going on at Pop. I just stayed at Pop last week and LOVED it! Great CMs, wonderful layout, awesome pools, wonderful bus service. I've done deluxe resorts (Poly, AKL) and Pop is my favorite value. :thumbsup2

How about a link to the youtube so we can see what you are talking about? I stayed over a long weekend in Feb and it was pretty nice. I like CSR more, but was pretty nice really.

We've stayed there 5 times. Last time was December 07.

It's a great place to stay. We've never had any complaints!

Be back for our 6th time this weekend.

I have only heard good things about POP - that was why we picked it for our upcoming trip!

I had no idea that POP had a bad rap. We stayed there last summer and had a wonderful time. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

I absolutely love POP. They were constructing another section, but that was completely across the lake. They have since halted construction, not sure why.

I found the food court better there than CBR, which is where I stayed last year. It also feels fairly compact, everything isn't miles away. (as apposed to CBR where everything is far away).

we love staying at pop, especially in the 50s building - we like having a top floor overlooking the lake - very quiet

I loved my one night at Pop-I'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

Just the opposite for DH & I we won't be back to POP ever again. We had the most unmagical experience we've ever had onsite at POP last September. The resort is huge, overcrowded, rude, unruley, unsupervised kids. Kids running up & down the halls after 10pm at night screaming, no parental control. Rude & lazy guests slamming doors on locks instead of using keys. Preferred room had view of absolutely nothing, far away from elevator, food court, pool & bus transportation. As far as the bus transportation, no matter what time of day we went to a park you normally had to wait for at least 2 buses before you could get standing room only to a park. The food court was always slammed & you had to play table vulture to get a seat & pray that your food was still hot when/if you found a table to eat at.

Now at ASMu it was the total opposite. It's a much smaller resort, rooms have recently been refurbished. Overall it had a more magical appeal to it than POP did. (Pop's beginning to look really run down in the rooms). Food court was much better. Activities around the pool for kids daily. No issues with the buses. They only shared 1x while we were there & that was to AK.

Overall ASMu wins hands down for us over POP. I know that won't upset anyone because it'll leave more rooms for everyone else, but JMHO........:cutie:

Loved POP, staying there again in two weeks.

Eeyore's My Favorite - Perhaps you just got unlucky with your location @ POP, or something, but we never had any of the problems you spoke of. Definitely not any worse than anywhere else we've stayed, including All Star Sports.

Bus service was great - it was nice not having your bus stop at 2, 3, or 4 other stops at a resort. Get on, and go straight to the park! Waiting for TWO buses? Yikes. I hope we don't end up with that kind of crowding this month. We went during June/July last time, and rarely had to wait for a 2nd bus to any park.

We went the 3rd week in September last year, and about the same time 2 years prior to that & had the same experiences both times. Our first stay was in the 90's in a standard room & that's why we chose to pay for a preferred room last year. We were in the 60's last year but not an area that we would have considered preferred even though Disney did. We did discuss the many issues we had at POP with Disney CRO & did receive a phone call from a CM who took care of our issues.

DH & I find POP to be a good value. It is fun and has a great gift shop. The food court is fine and as long as you know it's not a deluxe~ you're good to go!
:thumbsup2

I feel so much better about my choice now. I just kept stumbling across people that seemed to despise POP and I just wanted to see if it was across the board or person specific - I guess I figured out the answer to that :)

Thanks again all you fellow Disney lovers ;)

We went to Pop in July- like another poster I did notice rudeness from fellow guests. We had people knocking on our door at all hours and the decorations on our door were stolen. The loud running and shouting at night was not that much fun either. That being said aside from some rude and unthoughtful guests we did like Pop. I would give it another shot. However my DH will be hard to convince on that one as he said we did not notice this behavior to this extent at the moderate resorts (not saying that it doesn't happen just that we did not experience it) and now he does not want to stay at a value again. We did stay at ASMu and enjoyed our time there very much.
