Pop Century

We are currently booked at Pop Century and I am not paying for a preferred room location. The last two years, we stayed at the CBR and everybody complained about how large the resort was. We thought it was just the right size so I figure if we can handle a non-preferred location at CBR, we can handle a non-preferred location at Pop.

I always do. We like to be close to the main pool and the food court. I always request the 60s section. The last thing we want to do after walking all day at the parks is have a long walk back to our room.

I have to say that we didn't and we were fine; stayed in the 70's and we were on the 2nd floor. Parked in the 90's lot and we were right next to the main building and pool was right there.

We do! Love to be on the first floor by the pool, food court and all and do not want to walk anymore at our resort...we do enough at the parks

Not ever being there in the past and hearing how spread out the resort was, I opted to pay for the preferred room. Loved the location and convenience. We were very close to the food court and buses.

I am. For another $44 bucks, I'd rather be closer to the food court and buses. Especially at the end of a long day in the parks with a tired and cranky 4 yr old.

We did NOT pay for a preferred room the last time, and we are NOT paying for one this trip next week. We stayed in the 90's next to the computer pool and it was a quick walk across the parking lot to the bus stops/food court. All of the buildings seemed fine to me......

We decided to do preferred on this trip just to see what the difference would be. The discount we got at AAA covered the extra cost so we figured why not try it.

I want to stay in the 50's section, so it'd be dumb for me to!

Being said, I still wouldn't. Not worth the extra money.

I don't. Never did pay for a preferred room at Pop because I wanted to stay in the 70's section more than being close to Classic Hall. But if you have small children, I think a preferred room is worth it.

I've stayed at the far end of the 50s (adore Lady and the Tramp) and it's still not more than a 5 minute walk to the buses or Everything Pop. You can always ask if there's any chance for a preferred room once you get to the desk. If the resort isn't booked up and they have one, they may give it to you for the same price.

We did once (I'm not sure I even remember why) but will not do it again. It was not worth the $$$, IMO. Luckily we did not end up stuck in a room facing the main pool as many of the preferred rooms do. We ended up on the 3rd floor, 60's building. The walk to the busses/food court was actually shorter when we staying in the standard 80's building. So I wonder to this day what we were actually paying for...:confused3

We are going in June and we did not request a preferred room. However my kids are 14 and 9. I think if I had little ones it would be worth it. But after all the calories eaten at the park for me the extra walking might even it out.:rotfl2:

We haven't yet, and probably won't. I don't find Pop to be that big of a resort.

Last summer, we stayed at Pop and did not pay for preferred. We had the very first room next to the Big Wheel (room 0101). My brother paid for a preferred room and was four doors away from us on the other side of the Big Wheel. We were staying for two weeks, and it wasn't worth $150+ to us. Even my brother said he didn't think it was worth it!

But, to each his own. Have a great trip!!!!!!!!!!!!

stayed at POP when it first opened in the '80's building near the cell phone icon...DS was 3 at the time and we walked from the bus stop to our room every night - no stroller - no carrying.

to me it's not that big of a resort to warrant a preferred room. But then again we stayed at SSR last year and walked everyday from our room to the main pool and we were waaaaaaaaay in the back of the resort.

We are, but I have some stamina issues, i'll be using wheelchairs in the parks, but not at Pop, so I want to be as close to the bus stop and food court as possible.

There is eight of us going in Aug. and DSis 5 so we did! Last year we stayed in ASMu by the cowboy boots. So it is worth it to try it! :goodvibes

I've stayed at POP four times now...not one of those stays was preferred (50's bldgs 1 and 2, 60's #4, and 80's).
But, I'm going down in Sept. My dh isn't all that crazy about POP, while dd and I love it. So, for that reason, as well as some extended family issues, I have booked a preferred room. We'll see how it is. Haven't felt the need before now.
