I am so excited because my boyfriend and I have decided to move our trip for next year up from October to March. We are trying to book things from now so as to avoid confusion as the trip gets closer. One of the things we are trying to decide is whether to book the Pop Century or the All-Star Movie resort. I have stayed at the former and he has stayed at the latter.

Which would you suggest? Any pros or cons of one over the other?

Thanks!

I have not stayed at Pop, but I'm in the process of planning our third trip to ASMusic. We love it there! I've heard others say that the gardens and vegetation are more on par with the Mods. We really like the theming too.

You'll have a blast at either resort!

The resorts are the same except for the theme's at these resorts. I prefer Pop just because I love the theme.. Music is cool too, I've stayed at both so I think they are the same with just a different atmosphere..

I've stayed at both...like the POP better..one bus to each park, instead of stopping at all the All Star's coming and going.:surfweb:

i haven't stayed at any value except for pop, but i luv it! the theme there is wonderful! when in march are you going? DH and I will be there
feb 29-march 6.

If you're going to use the Disney Bus transportation, definitely go with Pop.. More busses and much faster turn around times..

I'm headed to Pop on Nov.26th.. My third time there and no complaints..:thumbsup2

I agree Pop too.. :thumbsup2

I've stayed at both, and I have to agree with Linda on this one. To me, the bus thing was a non-issue both times I was at ASMO. For one, we almost always had a dedicated bus ( not sharing ). Also, there are less rooms at the All Stars compared to POP, so that means less people.
I'm not knocking POP because I really liked it, but I would not pick POP simply because of the bus "issue". There were times when we left a park at closing when the All Star lines were shorter, and moved quicker, than the POP lines. And, it did work the other way as well. Like I said, hard to justify the whole bus thing to me, IMHO.

Prior to our September '07 vacation (for our Anniversary) I would have said POP all the way, but.................this time around POP was just too noisy for us & we didn't enjoy it. Yes, it's great that there's only one resort for the bus pick up, the food court is amazing & the shopping is great. What got us so much was the unruley, rude guests. Between unsupervised kids running around on balconies screaming after 10pm at night, and people flipping their locks open so that the doors slam constantly as they run in & out after 10pm just got to me. Also, what we considered a "preferred" room was not what we ended up with either. All that being said, we did email Disney regarding some of our concerns and a great CM called me and we discussed them and we will be returning in January for a mini-vacation, but I'm going to go back to ASMu which we haven't been to in years. Since it's been refurbished I'm anxious to see the difference. We're AP holders & I want to take a few mini trips before they expire. I do realize the POP is a huge resort, and we really do enjoy staying at Values - but I just want to try something different this time. Maybe your trip will end up being alot happier than ours. :sad2:

We have stayed at both and I would say POP. The bus service was much better at POP. ASMovie shared buses with the other AS resorts and that was a nightmare, especially late at night after a long day in the parks! POP is also newer and therefore more updated and brighter than ASMovie. JMHO, of course!:thumbsup2

I much prefer Movies. Pop was far too noisy and crazy and my experiences with the buses were exactly the opposite of some of the posters here. We arrived at the height of free dining in 2006. In fact I just hated the place. The hotel was heaving and at times the queues for the buses were up to 40 mins. It was totally crazy.
At Movies the atmosphere was much more relaxed, the buses were great and the overall experience was miles better. I would go with Movies!

Thanks everyone...we booked the POP! I really liked it last time and when we tried to book online, the ASM didn't seem to offer rooms with king sized beds.

Pop is a great resort, but the transportation even 1 hour after park closing (and even 1 hour after evening EMH) was a very long line!!!

Granted, we were there during free dining and Pop was at capacity, but still, at that time it was very obvious the "sheer" number of rooms at that resort.

I think you made a good choice. We stayed in Movies in April and that place was dirty. We were placed in the wrong kind of room. (2 adults 2 kids in a room with queen size bed? come on it doesn't take a rocket scientist) That room was dirty too. We were finally moved to another room (2 HOURS LATER) Mold in the bathroom and a booger in the sink. We checked out! Never again!
