W stayed at Pop in January 2013 and had a fridge in our room that was free of charge. Did they change that back to having to request a fridge?

Sorry if the answer is somewhere in this thread....I haven't read it all yet. :)

On July 10th Disney announced they were removing or unplugging refrigerators at all Disney resorts in Florida and California except DVC and Value Resort Suites because of a defect. There was a fire in a room at the Grand Californian caused by the fridge. It looks like the Value resorts are the last to get replacements.

The same model fridge caught fire in the grand californian. So they are replacing all the refrigerators in all the resorts. Its a 4 month process. If you need a refrigerator for medical reasons they usually have them available. You can ask, but your not guaranteed, for a $15/night credit.

I got an error message when I hit submit at the end of online check in but when I logged into MDE it said 'modify online check in' so it must have went through :confused3 I couldn't think of a preference, so it will be luck of the draw.

I just went back in & it's still not offering check in or to modify check in. I'll give it a week and try again I guess.

On my last day of a 7 night 8 day trip. Food court has been quite busy at times but I feel as long as the food is fresh I don't mind. All sections seem to be open every time we go in. All the food we have eaten has been good. Chicken sandwiches, southwest burgers, salads, pizza bread, veggie sandwiches, tacos, waffles, omelettes, breakfast wraps etc.
I am 7 mths pregnant and like to have snacks and beverages with me at all times. We decided to ask for a fridge and they didn't have any available which we understood. The CM did give us the discount with no hesitation. We wouldn't have been upset if they hasn't. It's not their fault. Our attitude is very easy going and figure whatever happens happens.
Our housekeeper is SUPER sweet. We have been leaving her tips each day and she writes us a thank you.
Bus service has been pretty good. Really can't complain. Haven't waited more than 10mins maybe once or twice. We took the A of A bus once since our line up seemed long and we walked across.
Most of the problems we've experienced are from guests. From very rude, kids screaming and kicking in line, pple swearing all the time in front of children, abuse of motorized carts, kids splashing and screaming in the pool eapecially at 1am , etc. I really feel some of the magic has been lost on each vacation for these reasons. I've been to WDW about 30 times and I find a lot of manners have been lost. It's sad. We still enjoy ourselves but as I've stated some of the magic has been lost. I don't know when society became so "ME me me" mentality.
Despite this happy to have come to POP and looking forward to puppy kisses tomorrow night.

Yes, definitely dial 8844 from your room. The BB offer is free dining beginning next Aug. 20 until late Sept.

Also if you booked your trip before the July announcements of the fridge recall, ask for a credit and don't feel bad for asking. :goodvibes

I received the letter about the fridge. So I am not too concerned. I am hoping to stay at Disney during Halloween time, October. So hopefully if I call they will let me know about dates in October 2014. I did look through everything and found no other bounce back but this years. :confused3

I think I read somewhere that the current fd bounce back from Aug. 20 until the end of Sept. 2014 will be offered until the end of October 2013. It certainly doesn't hurt to call and check though. :goodvibes

The bounce back I received at the end of August was this years as well. I called because I knew others were being offered fd for next year. Gotta love the Dis!!! I wouldn't have known otherwise.

I don't understand this. Did you extend your reservation by adding a night at the beginning of your vacation? You wouldn't have gotten free dining with a single night reservation, you had to book at least 3 nights for free dining.

October 17th is excluded from FD so my guess is they are staying 1 night RO then checking in for their package on the 18th to get FD.

I just asked the front desk and they told me that there is no bounce back till next year. I will call and find out tomorrow. I also saw a bunch of guests wearing "sliders" that glowed in the dark with 2013. These go on the bands. I found out that they offered it to everyone when they checked in for free. When I asked the front desk, they told me they are all out. I was never offered the slider and want one. :worship:

Wow, they are already out of the free sliders? Not cool!

Maybe they meant the bb is for next year? :confused3

When I checked in a month ago I asked what the current bb was. The cm I spoke with did not know what I was talking about. She had no idea what a bb was! :confused3 So I had a look through my package and found the RO discounts up until the end of 2013. The day I checked out, I called 8844 and asked for the fd bb which I got for next year. :woohoo:

The front desk is often clueless about bounceback offers. Just call ext 8844 from your room phone, and the CM will be happy to help you book. Have fun! :goodvibes

I will call and find out. It didnt seem they knew much about BB at the front desk.

So far our MB are working well. I do recommend that getting the band covers. The bands made my wrist sweat and I hate that. The covers will make it more comfortable.

On the rapid refill, it works but people still have their old cups. My DH saw someone use their RR mug to fill up an old one. I dont think the RR mugs will be that big of a success.

My vacation soon comes to an end and will have to restart the clock again. :cloud9:

Per you wondrful bloggers, I called 8844. They do have free dining but from 20 Aug - 29 Sep 2014. I have my heart set on Oct 2014. Not to mention this will be a family vacation this time. So it would be with my DH and his son and his girlfriend. So I will just have to have my AAA travel agent keep her eyes and ears peeled. She is good about that.

I thank my fellow bloggers.:grouphug:

Fridges are being removed due to a possible defect. A fridge at a Disney run resort caught fire so they are replacing all the fridges. While they are doing this, they do not want you using the old fridge that is still in the rooms and they only have so many fridges for those that need them for medical reasons.

Edited to add: Just realized I was a page off and this question was answered. Sorry. :)

At Pop now. Crowds are low, food court is not too bad (but only ate there once so far). Did AK today, everything was a walk on :) magic bands are working great

I had no idea about the free slider...I was there last week and bought the ones that pop on. I lost the castle and couldnt find it in the park. They told me it probably got swept up. I would have loved a 2013 one though.

Someone mentioned there was a Hess service station somewhere on property. They said they have them.

I can't remember which thread that was on.

one hess across from DTD . right across from the bus stations. and yes, you can bring beer on the bus (unopened, of course!).

there is another one on Lake buena vista drive, within walking distance of the boardwalk. (took me 6 minutes to wlak there from the entrance to the lobby).

and there is a third hess on World drive.
