I'm a little apprehensive about the Pop, so I hope we enjoy it as much as everyone else. We have always stayed at the All Star Resorts and once at AoA. I'm a little nervous about the vast size of this resort and how crowded the Food Court will be.

I also, for handicapped reasons, need to be as close to the main building and parking as possible. Any recommendations on where I should request our room to be located? Thank you.

Buildings 1 and 10 are closest to the main building. I have stayed in building 10 twice now and it is close to main building, parking, and bus pick up for parks. Also close to the Hippy Pool.

Check your PMs. :)

We have never been to Disney in the winter and we are going in January for marathon weekend. Woot!

This may be a silly question, but are the pools at Pop heated? I saw where people were talking about swimming in the winter, and I know Florida CAN be warm that time of year.... But didn't know if the water was kept warm, or if others are more warm blooded than me. LOL

All the resorts pools are heated to 82 degrees. Just beware of getting out of a warm pool and into some chilly air.

Does anyone have an estimate of how long it takes to get from pop to magic kingdom and Epcot for rope drop? And from pop to DD?

:cool1: We were finally able to get MB's for our "spur of the moment, cause I miss my daughter and love Disney trip!!" lol

It was not showing up on my MDE but she received an email and was able to customize them this morning. Now I just hope I get my Mickey Mail before I have to fly out in a couple weeks or I will be lugging my own luggage!

I put in a request to be by the bridge to AOA, which is were we have stayed the last 3x's we have been to POP. So far they have always came thru for us when I requested a specific room #. Just hope the pixie dust keeps coming!

Can't wait to be back there! I am already tired of cold Kansas weather. :sad2:

Duh!!! I get so excited thinking Disney I lose my mind a little!! Using the buses. Thanks!!

MK 17-19 minutes
Epcot 7-8 minutes
DTD 8-9 minutes

Now those are estimated actual travel times once on the bus. They don't take into account waiting for a bus to arrive.

Hi, POP friends. Been working for ages on planning our park days :surfweb: for our upcoming January trip. It's not easy planning for 7 people... including my 78 year old dad, plus a 10 year old boy and a 5 year old girl. :scared: But somehow it all came to me today and with the help of EasyWDW cheat sheets, I now have not only our days planned out, but our FP+ selections, too! Now I'm wondering how the testing will play out and if the changes (tiering) at EPCOT will spread to other parks, as I am sure they will. It will throw a wrench in my plans for sure at DHS, but we'll manage somehow!

Anyhow, I just wanted to talk about Disney to people who "get" my planning. ;) Hope you are all having a fantastic POP kinda day. I'm feeling the POP spirit today. :hippie: 75 days to go!

Now to think on window decorations!

10 days to Pop :yay::yay::yay:

Does the laundry area stay open 24/7? Thinking of using the night we watch a movie to wash some laundry if it is open.

I think I have seen this question before but do not remember the answer. Is there usually enough seating with beach chairs for the movie or should we BYOBlanket?

Thanks!

My thoughts on the movie: we "watched" Hocus Pocus on Halloween. There were plenty of chairs. BUT there are only a few decent spots. The area is way too brightly lit and noisy with its proximity to Hippy Dippy so seeing and hearing the movie is very difficult.

I can't say if laundry is 24/7 however I did laundry both very early in the morning and very late at night!

In other news: we just rolled in this morning after 11 days at POP. We had a great trip and POP more than delivered for a Value. I have done a lot of reading on DIS and have to say that you will be satisfied if you go with the flow and adjust your attitude and expectations. But that can be said of your Disney trip in general!

If i didnt receive a letter from Pop saying that we would not be getting a fridge in our room should I assume we will have one? Or should I call and request one. We need it for medicine.

Also we only have 9 days!!!!

Everyone I talked to either had one or one magically appeared as soon as they mentioned it.

Our first visit to Pop is just 4 days away! Slightly anxious still as we've only done mod or Deluxe in the past and reviews seem all over the place for the values. I just need a clean room and all will be good though.

I just called and had them put a fridge on our room request as it wasn't an option online. Hope we haven't trouble there as we will be traveling with DS's food because of allergies.

Does the laundry area stay open 24/7?

Yes, just make sure you have your MB or KTTW with you.

From post #5 of this thread.

Washers/dryers are available in the poolside bathroom buildings located in the 50s, 60s, and 90s. These are coin operated and are available 24 hours; however, a room key is required for access after 9:00 pm (there are change machines in the bldg).

Laundry products are available for purchase in vending machines and also Everything Pop.
$2 each for the washer and approximately a 20 minute dryer cycle
No seating available in laundry bldg.
