Due to a problem with my foot, I require the use of a roll-in shower, so we have booked this type of room for our upcoming trip. The CM was telling me that a full size bed has been added to the rooms with roll-in showers and that those rooms were enlarged when they did the refurb, is this true? I can't imagine they were able to make these rooms bigger or add a full size bed to those rooms, we have been in that kind of room before when we requested a king size bed. I know we stayed at Pop after the refurb.

Thanks. Does anyone know how much time to allow from POP to get to seaworld via DTD then the lynx bus system?

I don't know the amount of time from Pop, it too us about 20 minutes from the Comtemporary to Sea World. We went sort of a back way, so we didn't have to get on I4.

Would I have to arrange for taxi pickup prior to leaving or are there taxis available outside the resort regularly?

For most of the ADR's I will take the bus to the nearest resort and walk (Chef Mickeys or Ohana) but the one I'm worried about most is Boma at AKL. Should I take a cab or trust the bus to get us there on time?

Still over 100 days out but can't stop thinking about it.... Soooooo excited!!

There were usually taxis outside of Pop, but the CMs will call for a taxi if one is not there. What time is your Boma ADR? If it is really early, I think I'd opt for a taxi to AKL.

My DS(15) and I are going down August 18th to 27th and staying at POP for the first time.

We've always used Disney Transportation exclusively while at the World but some of our breakfast ADR's are fairly early and I'm wondering if a cab would be easier than the bus transfers.

:thumbsup2 You & me both :hourglass Hurry August!

If you opt to bus over, we've eaten at Boma's twice for lunch or dinner and used the buses. From our resort, we went to AK then hopped on the bus to AKL. Compared to going to the boardwalk area via DHS or WL/FW via MK, it didn't seem to take any longer to get to Bona's via AK. If you are already at a park obviously it's easier to take the bus straight to AKL then come home via AK (or DHS) back to POP.

We haven't been back to AKL since they opened Kiduai Village but we're going to eat there at Sanaa's & when researching how to get there, I have learned that the AKL bus now has TWO stops, FIRST at Kiduai Village BEFORE arrival at AKL where Boma's is located. I have not experienced this first hand so I'll recommend you double check with the bus driver if you take the bus just to verify you don't get out at the wrong place :)

There is a thread about these rooms on the DISabilities forum.

ETA: Just saw you that you are on that thread, let us know what you find out!

That's one reason I came here, because no one seems to be answering the question there. Guess I will have to wait to find out. I know what they did before when my mom went with us and had to have that kind of room, but that was 4 years ago.

I've been mostly a lurker over the last few years, but I thought I'd POP in & say HI! :wave2: My name is Becky & we will be there Sept. 28-Oct. 8, 2012. VERY EXCITED! :goodvibes More so than usual because this will be the first surprise vacation for my daughters....not going to tell them until after we get to the airport! Which means I have to plan, pack, etc. without them knowing! SO WISH ME LUCK!! (Good thing I've had some practice! I'm one of those people who firmly believes: IF IT'S NOT BROKE, DON'T FIX IT! Hence the reason I'm still going in the fall, staying at POP, attending MNSSHP, eating at the same restaurants using the free dining promo (upgraded from QS), etc. I GOT THIS!!! LOL!!!:rotfl2::rotfl:) One thing I'm VERY happy about....mini-fridge in the room!!! No more fridge swap eh?! lol I thank the good Lord I have other nuts like myself to carry on to about Disney. A lot of folks around me just don't GET IT....but ALL Y'ALL DO!!:grouphug:

Yes we do GET IT !!It was on these boards that I planned my first ever Disney Trip, knew NOTHING!!But I still remember my DD boasting to other newbies about what we had done and they couldn't believe it !!:dance3:She even asked me IF I had planned Potty breaks !!!:lmao:

Got my Disney count down chain this morning! I am soo excited to print it and make it:) I think we are going to request 60's building, lake view, top floor:) how does that sound to you seasoned POPers? We have connecting rooms. We want to be kind of close to the pool but with the relaxing view of the lake and I think my DD6 will like those icons the best. It doesn't seem to far to the busses but it will be our first time at POP so I am trying to mentally compare it to ASMsu.

I've never done the online check-in before -- when can you do it? 24 hours out? 48? One more thing to put on my planning checklist! Thanks.

You can do online check in 10 days before your trip. Log on to the disney site and it will have a link at the top that says online check in and you will be able to request your room location with that. We will be there in 14 days! First trip! :) We are planning to request 70's, lakeview and connecting rooms...if we do get our request..will that be far from the main building and hippy dippy pool?

Question for you veterans of POP!! The movie that is shown nightly..can you tell me "where" it is?? THANKS!!

SO EXCITED THAT I AM BUSTING IT IS TWO WEEKS AWAY!!!!!!

Just my personal preferences.....I like ground level when I have a lakeview room. It's quiet back there anyway and when u want to take a stroll to see the turtles, you don't have a bunch of stairs. I thought the backside of 70 was GREAT for this purpose....HOWEVER...after looong days in the park, it felt like quite a haul for me...plus going to get refills felt like excercise! BUT now I have a chipper 11yo who can do all my 'dirty' work!! CINDERELLA!!! kidding! lol
This time we booked preferred. Going to request ground level. Near smoking :-P for my fiance'. I'm thinkin the only preferred smoking rooms are up front in 50s. ANY THOUGHTS? BUT up front in 60s near the bar's smoking area wouldn't kill me as much! lol:lmao:

P.S. My main pet peeve is the distance from the parks to the POP busses. O-M-Goodness. If I were on the Disney city council, I would petition to swap the positioning of the buses on a daily basis...afterall, they are just signs right? Seems POP buses are always waaaay down at the end.....which is such a long walk (run sometimes!)...plus getting caught up in the HUGE crowds at the bus lines before POP along the way.... ugh. Tis my only complaint! (Besides no coffee pot provided...but that's another thread, right??? lol)

 PrincessSuzanne!

Not sure what the CM meant by a "full-size" bed in with a king bed. Do you think the CM meant a rollaway bed? I haven't heard anything about making the room larger (certainly not outside dimensions) - perhaps they meant by removing things IN the existing room??

Depending on how many in your party, it's possible Disney will 1) give you a rollaway or 2) comp you a connecting room.

Please let us know what happens or if DISabilities can provide additional info. :goodvibes

P.S. Sorry that you have problems with your foot. :flower3:

Hi Becky and :welcome: to our friendly POP FAQ thread! :hippie: We ALL get your Disney fix here!! :thumbsup2

Well .... as far as our walks to the POP buses, feel it only adds to keeping us POPpers in tip-top shape! We had ONE close stop, DHS until a year or two ago ... my theory, the Disney exec didn't feel the love of POP! :rotfl2: BUT, we do have great busing, right??? A positive to everything. :thumbsup2

And speaking of coffeepots, baby steps needed here, after all we JUST rec'd the free fridges, so now you want it all??!! :teeth:

Oh, we are a great bunch here!! :goodvibes

Sounds like our requests :) ... both great locations:thumbsup2

charliesmom86 ...lakeview request will most likely find you in bldg either in the courtyard facing the 60s (closer to pool) or the backside directly facing the lake (a little bit further). Overall do not believe it is a huge difference, but everyone views these things differently. These standard rooms are quite nice in these 2 areas and convenient to Classic Hall and busing. :)

mouse2mouse ... one of my favorite visit was when we were in Bldg 5 lakeview, 4th floor. You will love having a room in the 60s! A close walk to the pool, Classic Hall and busing!!

Curious about this as well. Was thinking of getting 2 or 3 24 packs of water shipped to POP. Do they have some kind of fee for this?

We usually buy it from Costco. It is $8.49 (shipping included) for a 24 pack of the Nestle spring water so depending on where it ships from it would be either Zephyr Hills or Deer Park. We have never been charged a delivery fee but at POP they sometimes give it to you at the front Desk and you have to get it to your room. We usually put it in the stroller. If it arrives after you check in Bell services might deliver it.
