How far is "quite a walk"? I live in a rural area, and I am trying to figure out if my family will be fine staying on the outskirts of the resort.

I'd comment there is really no part of Pop that is "quite a walk" -- it is a pretty compact resort.

It is possible to try and be closer to the main building and transportation, for example, parts of building 2 in the 50's will be further away and a longer walk than parts of buildings 1 or 3 in the 50's. If you've never been to Pop, I wouldn't worry about it too much. But once you get to know the place, you start to figure out which buildings you like best.

The 50's is Not that far of a walk now the 80's and 90's are . But none of them should be a problem to an Urban family . MY DD however thought the 50's was too far to walk . Me I was just fine with it !!

Thanks jcarwash and englishrose47! At this point, I really don't think that I have a preference to which building we stay in, just excited to be going!

I really wouldn't be concerned about walking distances -- whether your from a rural or urban area. As jcarwash said, it is relatively compact and you'll find your way around quickly.

Although I will say -- on my first solo trip, they put me in the 90s. Coming back after a long day in the parks, that walk to the building --through the parking lot and past one whole building --was not only LONGGGGGG, but just a little scary, by myself.

Janet, I wish we weren't missing each other. It would be cool to say hi in person ;)

I'll keep checking. Fingers are crossed. I'm due for some pixie dust...

Stacy: Same here :goodvibes Maybe next August! BUT, I'm excited for you and the other DISers that will be there the same week ... hopefully you can all meet up (and take pix). :thumbsup2

Totally agree! There are some rooms in both Bldg 2 (50s) and Bldg 7 (80s/90s) can be a longer walk, but overall no rooms are further than a 4-8 min walk.
:)

Understand completely being solo. On solo trips in the future, ask the CM to find you another room location that would be closer to Classic Hall.

That's what I did for this trip -- requested as close to the main hall as possible (I didn't pay for preferred), and when I do my online checkin, I'll request a close building.

Thanks for the reminder. I totally forgot about the new categories for 2012. I want a preferred pool view. I have to call RIGHT NOW! I only have preferred. I hope it's still available for our dates!

Edit: BOO. No pool preferred for our dates. There is pool preferred if you are NOT on free dining though. WHATEVER! I'll keep trying. As long as we are preferred 60s, I guess it doesn't matter. Who am I kidding, yes it does. I want a pool view, lol!!

Hi Stacy, I read where you said you would keep calling, but I thought this might be helpful. As I understand it, the resorts will often have cancellations just prior to the 45 day mark when guests are required to pay the balance due, so with a little pixiedust: and some luck hopefully the room category you want will open up.

So, I just got a call from Disney Guest Relations. I had sent them an email last week asking about the pool hours at AOA and if the guests at AOA would still be able to swim after the posted pool hours. I was curious because staying at Pop, I didn't want to see any AOA guests in Pop's pools if we couldn't use theirs. I wanted to know if any of the AOA pools would be open after hours for their gutests or if Pop was going to see some late night swimmers venturing over from AOA.

She was very nice. She informed me that even though AOA has posted pool hours, that the guests at AOA will still be able to swim in their big blue pool after hours. She basically said it would be the same type of set up as Pop, you can swim after hours, just no life guard on duty. Then of course I got the whole pool hopping speech, that guests from either resort will NOT be able to use the other resorts pools, which of course I already knew. :thumbsup2

I just wanted to pass the info along. I was surprised I got a call instead of an email me back. She was very nice and very informative. :goodvibes

This being a friendly thread just wanted to add a comment based on our experience staying at all 3 all stars resorts that DO allow pool hopping. Once in 3 stays did I muster up the energy to walk from baseball sports area over to the music pool. Not only did DS gripe the whole walk through the parking lot, I too felt it was more a pain to haul our stuff. Granted perhaps I'm lazy because I thought it was also a hassle to go to the sports main themed pool too since we were right by the baseball's pool :lmao: Last thing I want to do after walking in parks is have to walk through a parking lot to a pool :goodvibes

Nonetheless, we did pool hop once to music since it IS allowed at all stars. I understand these are different resorts now since they did not add the rest of POP Century 1910-1940's as originally planned. But if they had stuck to the original plan I wonder if they would have allowed pool sharing like they do at AllStars? ANd if they did, do you really think that many people would bother? It's not like there are slides or hottubs available that one would be able to take advantage of? The pools are basically the same between POP and AoA, right?

Based on our experience at AllStars, I wasn't aware of too many people taking advantage of pool hopping & maybe I'm wrong here, since it's over a bridge and not through a parking lot, but I don't think you'll have too much to worry about...whether that be AoA guests trying to use POP's pool after hours or vice versa. Even if it were allowed, and I'm kinda surprised it isn't because of the original intent for the property, I don't think too many people would do that day after day anyway.

I have never pool hopped but I have to wonder how they monitor this !!If I was to walk over to AOA pool from Pop who and how would they know ?? I am nor in any way promoting this but just wondering why they would say this when never have I been asked to show proof that I am staying at Pop to go swimming:confused3;)

Well it's looking like at the main Nemo pool you may need your KTTW card to get into the pool area. For comparison at Yacht and Beach Club you cannot enter Stormalong Bay without showing your KTTW card to a cast member. But with the Cars and LM pools...I suspect if you look like you're supposed to be there...

My DS(15) and I are going down August 18th to 27th and staying at POP for the first time.

We've always used Disney Transportation exclusively while at the World but some of our breakfast ADR's are fairly early and I'm wondering if a cab would be easier than the bus transfers.

Would I have to arrange for taxi pickup prior to leaving or are there taxis available outside the resort regularly?

For most of the ADR's I will take the bus to the nearest resort and walk (Chef Mickeys or Ohana) but the one I'm worried about most is Boma at AKL. Should I take a cab or trust the bus to get us there on time?

Still over 100 days out but can't stop thinking about it.... Soooooo excited!!

Has anyone had bottled water shipped to the resort??? and if you have where did you get it??

Curious about this as well. Was thinking of getting 2 or 3 24 packs of water shipped to POP. Do they have some kind of fee for this?

I think most people use someone called the Garden Grocer. Here is their website:

http://www.gardengrocer.com/

I have never used them, but I would assume that there is a fee associated with the delivery. I'm sure you'll get more replies from people who know what they are talking about, hehe :)

I just checked the FAQ on their website and it says there is a $12 delivery fee and orders must be over $40. Any order over $200 is delivered for free. Just FYI :)

I'm more thinking of ordering online from walmart, etc. and having it shipped to POP. Shipping is only .97 cents. I guess I can call POP and ask them because a delivery fee will not be worth it, I would be better off buying locally and transporting.

Interesting !!I really do feel as the 2 resorts are sorter linked pool hopping should be allowed !!!

For my next trip to POP this Nov(or Maybe Oct:cool1:) i am going back to the resort I love and call home, POP. I want to stay in the building with the best view of the lake. What Building would i ask for?, and would this be a perffered room?. So i am also going to request a ground floor room, would this also be a peffered room?.
my other question, I am a golfer, and Disney will let me keep my bag at the course, and transfer them to what ever golf course i am playing at Disney:cool1:. So when I check in can they just hold them up in luggage holdeing area instead of takeing them to my room?. Or do you think that there is just to many people and luggage:rotfl2: to deal with then to be able to ask that?:confused3
