POP Century ~ Unofficially the Grooviest FAQ Thread #6 ~April 2012

Well I DID have a problem with the online check-in this morning so I may have to call up there directly.

It didn't take my changed credit card # (not wanting to use the same card to charge in-room expenses once there as I used to pay the ressie. Not a bigge, I can fix that on-site).

The thing I need to call about is it didn't accept my room requests. I wanted to stay 60's in a non-preffered on the ground floor (basically, the backside of the building towards the lake and away from the pool. I need the ground floor because even though I appear to be a perfectly healthy 30-something year old male, I have had reconstructive knee surgery in the past and doctors have warned me before to avoid stairs as much as possible. It's not a huge bigge and I'm certainly not disabled in any way. Just preventative maintenance so to speak and something i would prefer.

I'm guessing I could just call the main desk up there right? What # would that be and when would be a good time to do that (as in, how soon does the reservation start showing up in the HOTELS system so I can get them to mark it?)

So now that I've bored you with all the details............

The count is down to 10589 minutes as of 10:01 pm EST. I guess I'll cross that 10,000 minute threshold tomorrow! :banana:
When you call, tell them you have a special needs request for a medical issue and that a first floor will work best. When it becomes a special needs request, it is far more likely to be taken care of...you do not have to tell them why...if the CM does not understand call special needs directly:

I am sure you will have a first floor room. As we all know, when dealing with Disney, the nicer you are, the more they want to help!:thumbsup2

Have a great trip!!!:woohoo:

Whoo Hoo :banana::banana:
I will be there in 12 days!!:woohoo::woohoo:

:woohoo:

thanks for the insight. We are HP fans. Hoping to do 2 days at Universal/IOA, and an evening/night at City Walk. Just for a change.

Sounds like a good plan.:thumbsup2 A tip for Forbidden Journey ...

Do NOT take ANYTHING with you that cannot be put in your pocket (or stashed in your bra for safe keeping:) - yes I did this! :goodvibes) Universal has a strict locker system for their headliners, if you have ANYTHING in your hands that you can't stash in a pocket or hide, they will make you get in line for a locker, before you get in line for the ride. In the rest of the park it doesn't matter so much, but this is absolutely crucial to the HP plan. No backpacks, no water bottles, no nothing. Empty hands.

At the entrance to the castle you may get confused because at a certain point there at the beginning you can go right or left. There will be next to no one on the left, but the right will be packed as those people have to get a locker. The lines are divided by a rope. Go immediately left and you will pass everyone who has to get a locker or who doesn't know that they can bypass the line, and enter the queque. :)

Just did online check in! Getting super excited- just wanted to share that the system did accept all my requests so maybe the glitch is fixed

:banana: Maybe Disney has worked out the bugs!!

That is a great week to go. A lot of schools are already back in session. My daughter always starts after Labor Day. The weather is still hot, but there's a nice tropical breeze. Besides, the way I figure, it's 95 in FLA & 92 in PA!!!

Yes I've been to the outlets-only 10 min from my house. There is a Disney store in there now. I've noticed they sell a ton of Disneyland specific stuff.:cool1:

Okay POPers, I'm going to a job fair today. Send me some pixie dust!! I need to find a job that starts after September (after all my disney trips, haha!!) and one that can pay for daycare AND my Disney obsession, and still lets me off enough to go to the World!! I don't think that's much to ask, do you??:laughing:

No, you aren't asking too much!! :laughing: Hey we ALL want this! Okay, here's some pixiedust: by our own :tink:

:) Thanks! We have the 2 doubles, so hopefully there will be plenty of room.

Should be fine.... we hang what we can, use drawers, and the hooks, we leave some things in our suitcases.

Many good ideas from POPers on the thread here ... some bring an organizer for the closet, and a POP up hamper. :)

Yes, it is nice to capitalize on slightly reduced crowds due to schools starting earlier in August. And the FL weather is just as hot in June & July, so why not go in August and get a break in crowds and $$, right? :goodvibes Plus our own 90+ weather!

I haven't been back to the outlets since the fall and the Disney store had not yet opened. Maybe a good reason to head out that way this weekend .... :)

We go the last week in August and come home Labor day. I'm hoping for a bounceback in the room so we can go a 2 full weeks. Dh stars a new job tommorow and I think he negotiated 2 weeks. I'm just not sure when it starts if it is this year or next. I'm really hoping his current company pays him for his week he hasn't took this year. But it is hard to tell. He put his 2 week noticed in on Monday and they told him he was done today. :mad: The company he works for he knew this would happen they do it to everyone so it isnt' a surprise.

Kelly ... good luck to your DH on his new job! :cool1: I'm sure his company will be granting him some vacation for next summer, he would of been with his new employer for a year. :goodvibes

Also, if he has vacation time coming to him, his old employer should be giving him that pay as well as his time worked. :)

They don't do that anymore with Special Requests, everything is handled by CRO/WDTC, as of this past March. Just make sure the CM makes a note that this is a medical request, not just a special request.

I noticed you are checking in shortly after us!! I just wanted to ask, have you gotten any Mickey Mail yet?? I've been on the June thread and there are several people who have not recieved theirs yet. I called Disney and they said it got mailed out on the 5th, but I have yet to recieve it...I just figured since you are getting there after us, that if you had gotten yours already, then I would call and push for copies to be re-sent to me...Thanks!!:)

I'm also checking in around that time and haven't received my Mickey Mail.

Our outlet has all that Disneyland stuff too. I found a cool hat on clearance for $4 though. :banana:

That's easy if you look where the quote is on the bottom of each post next to it is a (") when you click on that it turns orange and then you go to the next you want to reply to and either hit the (") or the quote when you press quots all you have selected will be in your reply and you just answer/ comment in between each :goodvibes
This is coming from one who sure needed the same advice a few years back :rotfl2:

Thanks!!

We stayed at Pop Century October 2011. We would wake up to being stuffy in the room because the A/C would have stopped due to lack of movement of people or something like that. Since we will be there in just few days (June 1) I definitely don't want the a/c to cycle off. I did a search thru this thread but could not find out any tips/tricks to keep the a/c on while sleeping. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've heard if you tie a couple of balloons to a chair that helps. I haven't had that problem since they replaced the old thermostats a few years ago. I was there in August 2011 and the air conditioner ran fine all night.
