Pop Century Room Renovations

I noticed the dresser in the refurbished room pics has 3 drawers and 2 doors. Why doors? Why not all drawers? Anyone know what's behind the doors? Just shelves?

Anyone else bring Clorox wipes with them? I wipe down EVERYTHING when we first get there. Light switches, knobs, phone, TV remote, toilet handle and seat, all faucets, and the counter and sink.

We don't walk barefoot in hotel rooms either.

I'm not too much of a germaphobe, but I get skeeved out in hotel rooms and public restrooms.
I always bring a can of lysol a spray the whole room

At this point they are working on building 7, 8, 9?

My understanding is that only buildings 8 and 9 are being refurbished right now and none are yet ready for occupancy.

Yes! I've used wipes or Lysol. If I'm flying directly into MCO I use wipes. Can't bring aerosol in luggage. But most times I spend a week in Ft Lauderdale first then drive up. So can do a shop and get Lysol. I also bring a packet of travel wipes for flight and wipe down tray table, arm rests, etc.

You can bring aerosol in luggage, and I got a small travel size Lysol spray for my DH for work trips to keep in his carry on bag. I always bring aerosol hairspray, and DH likes the spray sunblock.

Does anyone have any advice for me to try and get a renovated room? I'm in England and this is our first visit so I'm not sure how to contact the resort. We're only going in September so we have time before we can check in but I like to know things in advance!

You can call to update your reservation with a room request, and with a September visit, I'd guess as the weeks/months pass we should know a lot more about what section(s) or building(s) are offering the renovated rooms. As you say you have time before your visit, so my advice would be to hang on a bit as we get this information and make a request for a specific section or building number when/if we know they have updated rooms.

Maybe it's just carry on that you can't bring aerosol? But I'd be afraid of putting can in checked luggage, in case it explodes all over my clothing. Zip lock bag won't contain it. I was reading about someone who's sunscreen exploded in packed luggage in zip lock bag wrecking clothes. And I have wipes anyway for flight.

I'm a bit OCD in hotels. I fill a 3 oz bottle with antibacterial cleaner concentrate and pack a little spray bottle to mix it in after I'm checked in. I also bring travel size Lysol spray in my 911 bag in my carry on.

Yes, I'm aware that that's slightly nuts :tilt:

Aerosol is fine in carry on or checked bag, just if it's carry on must be regulation size.

I always put any liquids or aerosols in zip loc bags in my checked luggage (or carry on).

I've been lurking on this thread for some time...thank you all very much for the updates. We are going in September and I'm hoping to score a refurbished room...we shall see!

To all my fellow germophobes, I'm so glad to see I'm not alone. I lysol everything, then I sleep on the hotel sheets but bring my own blanket and pillow. I can't bear the thought of putting a hotel blanket next to my face! I've forgotten my own linens a couple of times and my husband laughs his head off...I'll use a beach towel for a blanket before I put a comforter someone else used 6 hours ago that close to me! It may not make sense to non-germophobes, but it helps me sleep at night. The only place I don't have a problem with using the linens is on a Disney Cruise, only because I see how meticulous the stateroom attendants are.

We're arriving on June 4th for our stay at Pop and I want to try for a renovated room. I prefer building 9, and have seen the pics of refurbed rooms in that building. Our ressie is for standard view. Does anyone know if (a) they are nearing completion on the whole building? and (b) would an upper pool view room in that building be considered standard?

As I understand, the building that is expected to be opened with renovated rooms in June (first building worked on) is building 8, the 90s building. Reports here have said that work has begun on at least part of building 9 (the 80s bldg closest to Classic Hall) but it won't be finished for a while.

Google Pop Century Touring Plans and check out the room finder tool and it will show you what category each room is (standard, srandard pool view, etc.).
