We have always stayed at the CBR but for this short trip coming up we decided to try Pop Century (Dec. 8-11.)
We have two girls ages 10 and 12 ...
Any suggestions as to which building to request .
Thanks

my kids (7&9 when we stayed at pop) LOVED the 50s section and the bowling pin pool... they also like the big lady/tramp icons 'cause they could identify w/them... we were very happy in that section, but i don't think any of them are undesirable!
We love the 50's section (as do many people), because it is not preferred pricing ($10 more), but it is still close to Classic Hall and has a cool pool. From some views you can even see the top of Illuminations. The 60's section is fun if you don't mind paying the extra $10 to be a couple feet closer to Classic Hall. Also, the 70's section is close to CH, but does not have it's 'own' pool, you have to walk next door to either the 60's Hippy Dippy or the 80's Computer pool. The 80's/90's section is a bit of a walk to CH, but it seems pretty close to the bus stop if you take the outer sidewalk.
Another vote for the 50's!
As others have said, you get a "preferred" location without the "preferred" price. Nice pool, close to the main hall and buses.
thanks for all the great advice ... we booked our rooms and air last night and I have to call back with my flight info. tonight so I think I will request the 50's ...

My DS and her family just decided to join us on our next trip. She booked POP last night and requested 50's as well. We've been doing a lot of "research" here on the boards and that seems like the "best" area. She has 3 little one's, so being close to the bus stop is a ~must~!!!
60's is considered "preferred." If you don't want to pay extra, try the 50's. We had a very, very short walk from our room (#1370) and a great view of the Bowling Pin pool.
I have booked Pop Century for 8/21-27 and without knowing there is an additional charge had requested the 60's building. My trip is paid and no one at Disney mentioned this preferred charge, my paperwork from Disney show that I requested the 60's building. Do you think I'll be charged upon arrival? Any experience with this.

You'll see that, interestingly, there are rooms in the 50's, which is a non-preferred location, that are actually closer to the Main Hall than some of the 60's preferred rooms! Same with the 70's but you don't have the pool.
Does anybody know if there are wheelchair accessible rooms in each of the buildings? I booked a w/c room and a connecting room (did not pay for preferred), but haven't yet requested a particular decade. We probably need to be close to bus stop...
On this map, where are the bus stops? Am I just being dense? Also I see that it looks like there are three 50's buildings, which one do you request, what floor/view etc?? Thanks!!

The bus stops are in front of Classic Hall facing the "Guest check-in parking" lot.
Many people have suggested the lake view of 50's building C which I'm sure is nice... and quiet, if that is important to you. We were in building A with a courtyard view closer to Classic Hall. We liked the proximity to the Food Court, buses and pools. Being on the 4th floor we had no problem with noise.
You can probably find a resort map that is bigger but at least this give you an idea of the layout of the buildings.
