We have decided on two rooms at Pop Century and have never stayed there before.

Do you have a preference of a section you like?

Do you think getting any room would be okay or do you think you need to pay for the 'preferred' rooms or whatever they are called (the ones closer to the bus stop).

Any other tips for staying there for our first time would be appreciated :)

I have stayed at Pop at least 5 times and had a preferred room just once, in the 70s block. I personally did not think the preferred room was worth the extra money. I have stayed in the 50s 3 times and love this location. It is close to the main building, bus stops, and has a nice quiet pool that my kid loves. I once even had a room with a view of the lake, and it wasn't a preferred room. So now, when I stay at Pop, I ask for a standard room in the 50s. We just got back a week ago and it was great.

I have stayed at POP many times:love:

I like the rooms that face the lake.

Sometimes I pay extra for preferred. It is nice to be close to food court if you plan on eating many meals at hotel,or want to be close to busses etc.

I have stayed in all decades and liked them all.

I do like the 4th floor but 2/3 get a view with out as many stairs. Bottom floor is good if strollers etc.

Online check in will let you pick 2 . Some choices were decades, upper floor, bottom floor, etc.

The resort is not TOO large. When my kids we younger we would pool hop to all three in the afternoon or evening. The computer pool was usually the warmest followed by bowling pool.

Now that the bridge to AOA is finally open you can walk over there and explore, shop or eat, just swimming is not allowed.

I love the food here! Lots of choices.:thumbsup2

Lastly, I have always had great customer service here from checkin to bell services and Mousekeeping.

We love Pop Century but would never pay for preferred since we always drive and it's a hike from the parking lots to preferred. We did stay preferred once years ago when they didn't have a non-smoking room available for us. The preferred room we got instead (no upcharge) was one of the worst we've ever had.

We stayed in a pool-view preferred room inAugust, and I will never do that again! The door and walls are paper-thin. I may as well have been trying to sleep on the pool deck! There was one night where there was a rather raucous group in the pool until 3am! "Quiet hours" are after 11pm, but they are not enforced (no security on site, life guards leave post at 8pm).
If we stay there again, I will ask for 50's building 1 if we drive. It is close to the parking lot, the food court, the bus stop (I'd say 5 minute walk max), and the 50's section also has a pool. If we fly, I don't care which section we stay in, as long as it is not pool-view!

We stayed at POP in 2009 and we did not pay for a preferred room. We were placed on the "backside" of the 70's building and we thought it was a great location. Convenient to food court and bus stop.

We really enjoyed our stay at POP. Clean, comfy room and we enjoyed the food court. Have fun!! :goodvibes

Stayed in POP in June. We had two connecting rooms on the 50's section. The rooms were quiet and comfortable. I don't mind the walk to the busses, after all, you walk in the park all day! Never stayed in the preferred rooms - only standard. I don't really care about view. I'm only in the room to sleep, shower and change clothes, not to admire the view.

We've stayed at POP a couple times and only once paid for a preferred room. The room was so unbelievably far that I couldn't believe it was preferred, when I asked about it, it was definitely a preferred room.

Since then we're never bothered to get a preferred room. Other times we've stayed at POP or other values and have never been too far from the main building. We do however, tend to go during low season.

I stayed at Pop the first week of August. I had requested a top floor room in the 50's section and absolutely loved it! My room (not a preferred room) was very close to the food court, bus stop, and stairs, and not by the pool. Although while I was there, when I did walk by the pool at all times of the day and night, it was surprisingly quiet. A couple of times I would wander around the entire resort, and it's big, but not gigantic. The only thing I wish I would've done was go check out AoA while I was there... Have fun!

I agree. Preferred just doesn't make that much of a difference in my view, as long as you stay in 50's, 60's or 70's sections. We have stayed in 50's twice and 70's once. Two of those were preferred and not really worth paying extra for.

We stayed at Pop for the first time last month in a preferred room 60's section, first floor backing onto the pool view rooms. Loved, loved, loved this location!!!! It was surprisingly quiet and just around the corner from the Hippy Dippy pool. I would definitely pay for preferred again.

Stayed twice preferred on the back side of the 60's section.(not poolside) Sooooo close to everything!

We have stayed in standard rooms only. How ever we have stayed in all decades except 60s. The 50s and the 70s were our favorites. so close to everything. It is so relaxing taking walks around the lake. In the values view is not that big of a deal because your window is in the walk way and if your curtains are open people can look in.
