We just returned from 10 of the most disappointing nights at pop century. First our preferred location 500 feet from main building and believe me it was 500 feet from the main building ....nothing to pay extra for...they moved us after 1 night a few days later to a room in a perfect location but we had some company when we arrived BED BUGS!!!!! They put something on the beds smelled like medicated powder and ugh so did we... They then moved our room once again. Not all of our things were moved and we waited 2 days for them to lets see replace the items being that house keeping discards anything left behind once someone has checked out of the room.. The staff was rude and unacommadating and the food area was dirty. The cashiers when using the dining plan always seemed confused and only 1 out of 3 spoke any english. We waited almost 2 hours for a bus to animal kingdom on our last day. I have stayed at disney many times and loved our stays at both all star music and movies. I would never stay pop century again.

Hi
I'm sorry you had such a miserable stay. We just got back on the 25th and we had a really good time there. Our room was clean, and the mousekeeper put my DGD's Mickey in the window and also arranged him on the bed with sunglasses, also had a few towel animals. The food court was mobbed which was terrible, so we only used it twice and didn't look dirty to me (some of the tables weren't cleaned off) but we did find table. We waited about 10 to 15 minutes for the busses, but one day we waited about 35 minutes for a bus and it was so hot without any shade. That part was awful. We did have fun in the pool and our room was in the 70's, right behind the big wheel, so it was pretty close to the busses and food court. This was my 5th stay at Pop, and even though I have enjoyed most of my stays here, we're ready to try something new next summer. I think we might try POFQ. My DGD would love the slide.:)

Hi Rae - Sorry you had such a miserable time - no matter HOW you slice it, bedbugs are absolutely unacceptable and disgusting!

We just got back from 10 days of DDP and a split stay at YC and WL, however, and our experience of things left behind in rooms as well as the DP was entirely different from yours.

I was unhappy with the "feel" of YC after 3 days, and asked to be moved. 10 days is a long time to be miserable - did you think of asking to be switched to another Value or even to considering upgrading?? When I checked out of YC, I realized 12 hours later, I had left an entire drawerful of clothes! They tracked down mousekeeping and it was sent over to WL with double efficiency - both the front desks and Bell Services were ON it!

While I also agree that not all Disney employees speak English as well as we might like, I never experienced any problems ordering CS, TS or snacks on the DP anywhere. August IS hot, and according to all reports, this was the absolute worst in many years. We were equipped with frozen water bottles, fans and neck coolers, and did find it STILL very uncomfortable. Is there NO shade at the Pop bus stops at all??

BEDBUGS:scared1: I would have flipped out. How did you know they were in the bed? Could you actually see them!!!!

Do you know how to check the bed for a bedbug infestation? Turn back all the sheets to the bare mattress and look for brownish streaky stains, especially near the seams of the mattress. That's a tell tale sign of bedbugs. That's the first thing I do when I check into any hotel, not just Disney. It happens in all price range hotels, so it's not just a value problem.

I'm sorry that you didn't enjoy POP. We stayed there this past February and loved it. We've vacationed at WDW in the summer 4 times and February is now my favorite time to go. I know everyone can't take a winter vacation but its sure is nice touring the parks with less heat and humidity. It makes waiting for buses and the lines in the parks that much easier. Bed bugs - aren't you lucky! NOT! I'm glad you were able to get a different room. I'm sorry you had problems at classic hall also. We managed to get down there each morning by 7 a.m. Too early for lots of people so we were able to avoid crowds, dirty tables, etc. I hope you had some fun on this vacation and hope that your next Disney trip will be better.

Lynn

Sorry for your problems! BEDBUGS...I want another room!:scared1:

I have stayed at the Pop every year for the past 5 years. I loved it there the first 4 times....This past year....I dunno...something happened!:guilty:

When we went there last month, I found the Everything Pop discustingly filthy. And the room cleaning was not up to the usual par.:sad2:

There has been a decline.:scared:

Thanks for that info. I am floored hearing this about any Disney hotel not just because it was a value. It seems sort of crazy to me.

Bed bugs!:scared1: That is disgusting.
I am sorry that Pop was so disappointing. I don't think I would be too pleased either if I was in your shoes.

So sorry you had a bad stay.

Why would you stand in line for 2 hours though for a bus???

Hope your next trip is better!

We are going for a last minute birthday weekend end of October and I could throw up after reading this. I've always stayed at WL and this is just a 'cheap' last minute weekend and now I'm worried I'll regret it....:confused3

OMG!! What was that room #????????? I know it could be in any room, but with my luck i will get it on the 22nd. At least I know how to check for them now...

Did they offer a resort change?

Bed bugs?!?!?
So that's what one gets for paying for a "preferred room"!

Sorry it was such a bummer for you.

*Keeping fingers crossed for no "friends" in our room in 2 weeks*

OP sorry to hear about your experience. Next week will be our 4th trip at POP and hopefully we won't have any visitors! I will check for those stains first thing! I know that POP is booked to capacity while we are there since I've been trying to get a second room for our entire stay (9-6 to 9-16) and haven't been able to get either Sat. night. I keep hoping for an upgrade to OKW or SSR. :confused3

disnut-you're DGD will love the slide at POFQ. POFQ is our fav. mod and DD7 loves the slide, and pool. I like the smallness of it. Very quaint. We're going to be back at POP in less than 5 days! :grouphug: Can't wait to escape the So. Cal. heat. It's at least 106 right now, and has been this hot for 2-3 days. Ughhhhhhh! :sunny: And thanks to the remnants of Hurrican Dean we have high humidity. If I'm going to be this hot and sticky, I want to be at WDW-mostly in the water parks! I just keep telling myself, soon, soon, soon......

HI...the room with the bed bugs was 5168....We didn't see any signs of bugs in the room after our first night in that room I woke up with an itching with a slight rash on my fash and shoulders kids had some also...We had been using a sunscreen we hadn't used before so I thought that must be it. The next day our sheets smelled like some sort of medicated powder and we had a refrigerator in the room that hadn't been there before. It was so late that we went to sleep. The following day I called about the smell on the sheets and they said they would come to reclean the room. The day after we still smelled the odor and we were all itching. I went straight to the front desk and was actually told that they were aware of the problem and thought it was taken care of. They gave us the fridge free for dealing with the situation. so not only were there bugs but they knew about it and never said a word to us even when we were complaining about the smell. At this point I demanded to be moved to a new hotel and I was told everything was sold out apparently along with free dining there were some kind of flooding and electrical problems at poly along with 2/3 of akl being closed and therefore no room or so I was told so are only choice was to take another room at pop. We waited for the bus for that long because it was our last day and it was the only park we hadn't been at this trip

OMG! They actually KNEW about the problem and didn't tell you!?!??? That is SOOOO unacceptable!

Although, it just reinforces the feeling I had after leaving disney on Aug 24th. They don't seem to care anymore.

I am so utterly disappointed about this whole thing and feel terrible for raenyny. We leave tomorrow morning for Orlando and we're staying at POP. I am so shocked that I don't even know what to say. I'm scared to even tell my bfriend about this.

I travel frequently for work (just about every other week for a week at a time) and I have never experienced bed bugs in any hotel I've ever stayed in. This is my first trip staying on Disney property (I stayed at the Swan for a business conference once but I don't count that b/c I didn't even get to go to the parks that time). I had enough hotel points to stay off-site for free but wanted the conveniences that come with staying on property. I hope I don't regret my decision.

I really hoped that they comped you in some other way besides the fridge. That is just not right:mad: . I sure hope our stay in a few weeks is better then that:sad2:
