POP CENTURY ... LAST WEEK of SEPT. 07 MEET

Just what are these miracle drugs you speak of?! My DD 7 (see picture below) throws up on any car ride longer than 40 minutes. And we live inthe mts. of PA. so any trip to the mall is a good 45 minutes. We take heavy duty plastic bags and a change of clothes with us wherever we go! Lucky for me though, airplanes don't bother her at all...go figure. We just took a 4 hour trip to the beach and she barfed 4 times!! Sooo...what are these drugs and are they safe for a 7 year old? My DS 11 ( see my avatar...he's the one on the right, not the big black faced furry one!) will be sooo happy if we can stop her from vomiting since he is the one who has to sit next to her in the car. I always loot the plane for those airbag sickness bags to keep in my car.

As for packing...I am an overplanner and I should be packing right now but I'm suprising my kids with this trip so I have to pack on the sly just before we go. Yikes, it's killing me...

Karen

Karen - The drug I was referring to is Dramamine. (I tried to type the actual name in my first post, but didn't know how to spell it!) You can buy it anywhere and it says for adults and children 12 years and over. My doctor said it is fine for my DD at the age of 9 to take 1 pill. She is so much taller than most kids her age, so she weighs a lot more, allowing her to take some adult medicine. I would just ask the pharmacist. I also take it just in case.

Mike, check back on page 143. I think she updated it yesterday morning. There are a couple of additions since then, I think. But, it shoud be fairly accurate. Were you looking for something in particular?

are my single friends still coming?have not seen any post by them lately

hey everyone,
18 days till disney :cool1:

Has anyone told their childs school yet about the trip ? I think i will wait till Sept 3 before telling them about the trip, that will give the teachers 2 weeks to get the work together for my kids:thumbsup2 . When do you guys plan on telling your child schools :confused3

We are on a year-round school cycle. My daughter has school Sept 20th, but is off Sept 21st - Oct 12th. We always run into people from school in WDW because it's a great time to go and they have the time off. My daughter comes home saying "I over heard this Mom talking to this Mom and she said "Do you have the dining plan?" or "You're staying on site, aren't you?" She knows what they are talking about!;)

Hey everyone~
Well, I made it back to Portland yesterday morning. My DH stayed in Alaska until the day we leave to go to WDW because he wanted to go moose hunting & fishing. How nice of him...now I have the little guy (Hunter) to myself for 3 weeks and I'm going crazy on day #2. For those of you who are single moms, you just gained soooooo much respect from me. I don't know how you do it.

I'll catch up on all the posts this afternoon, I need to try to get some things unpacked so that I can free up my bags for WDW packing :)

Hope you have a great afternoon.

Hi Becky!!!!

- I told DDs school the day she started. So far, no problems. But as of yesterday, she has a new teacher, so I guess I need to tell her. Thanks for reminding me!

- We are going to try some pin trading this year, just a little.

Karensokool - about the car sickness - GINGER - ginger snap cookies, ginger ale, and ginger candy all help settle the tummy (I take ginger tablets from the Health food store!) My dad also had severe car sickness, his mom made him suck on lemons!! It worked for him, when I had morning sickness I remembered the lemon trick and ate lemon candy - that really helps too!!

I'm going to try and get dd to swallow so she can take dramamine, as well as ginger and lemon drops!!

:grouphug: Becky - take a tip from Preschool teachers and the nanny - have a schedule, make sure to include arts and crafts - keep him busy and entertained and the time will go by much faster!!

Farrah I figure I have to tell DD before I tell her school!! :rotfl2: Either way, I'm not looking forward to it!! Sept 4 is Back to School Nite for Parents only, so I may 'discuss' it then!! Last year I only told the Nurse (she keeps track of attendence) and I told her I was dreading telling the teachers for fear of back lash - she poopooed the idea and told me not to worry, she'll take care of it!! :yay: So I may talk to her first!!

I'm a single parent and yes it is hard. You wanna know the hardest part; it's going back to work when you have a newborn baby and still having to get up at 2am for feedings. I think I got maybe 3 hours of sleep at night. You gotta do what you gotta do.

I'm trying to post a picture.....don't know how:
DisneyPoster.JPG>

OK, let's hope that worked, there must be an easier way. I would like to just copy and paste, but do you really have to export it to a web space first? Help!

Anyway, I was the one who WASN"T going to decorate my window or put anything on my door...Now I'm getting obsessed!! Is tape OK? How do you hang stuff on the door?

It didn't work! How do you post pics? (Just to let you know, I majored in computer programming, programmed Macros into spreadsheets at work, but that was 16 years ago!)

Hi! Your link doesn't work either???? Ok, to post...

Upload your photo to a photo sharing site, like photobucket, which is ideal, b/c all you have to do is copy/ paste the bottom line of hypertext into your reply on DIS.

Ok that's dh, he is a computer person, but doesnt post on message boards!!

I agree with Sunshine (WOOHOO on 1,000 :dance3: ) go to photobucket.com and create an account... then all you do is click on upload photos and up pops a window from your computer and you have to remember where on your computer you stored the photo! (that's my problem!! I right click on pictures and lose them!!) then click ok on your computer - and then on the photobucket site click upload and tadaa!!

and then it is the last line of text you copy and then paste over here - works like magic!!

I also found that if you go in to edit your post however the picture can disappear from your post!! and on photobucket you might want to make your album "private" so if someone reads your picture they dont go to your photobucket account to make mischief!

Don't know if anyone has seen these already...

But, when I was at the store today, I saw that Crayola has something called washable window markers. Those of you with kids may have already seen these. But, for me, it was an exciting find.

My kids are grown so this is news to me !! I am so on it !!:yay:

Hello all! Hope everyone is doing well! What is a good room location / building to request? I like peace & quiet to sleep so I know I want a room facing away from the pools, but I think I'd like a ground floor room too for convenience. Any suggestions? We have a standard room, not preferred. Thanks!

Sorry for so many posts!!!! I wanted to learn how to do this!

Thank you so much Eeyore45 and AKSunshine!

That will be on our door - It is a posterboard and that is all pieced and glued. It's hard to tell by the pic. My poster is done, but my house is a mess!

I don't know how I'm going to hang it yet....probably tape and then bring a good cleaner to get the yucky off.

I have a CP reservation that night too...I think it is at 5:15? I will check and get back....my kids will be the toddlers in the Mickey halloween print rompers (that my DH says look like dresses, and refuses to let them wear, good thing he won't be there!). I m just finishing them up now, I will post a pic when they are done, so you all can spot us at the party.
Okie Doke. =]

LorilieMarie that poster is awesome and puts shame to my little lime green one! Oh well. But I'll definitely look out for it. =]

So girlies [and guys] how do you all feel about snabbing free dining? I'm assuming all of you got it because the party is on the 22nd. =)
