POP CENTURY ... LAST WEEK of SEPT. 07 MEET

Woopsie, posted this in the wrong place, meant to put it here with you fine people. Will try harder next time...thanks for pointing out KeliBlue...crikey, if I can't navigate around a DISboard how am I going to handle the Magic Kingdom...it's a worry:eek:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Greetings from Australia :upsidedow - the only place with more sunburnt Poms than Orlando :cool2: .

Looking forward to joining you on 22nd - our arrival date! However, not sure if I'll still be able to stand upright as we arrive at about 7pm after 30 hours travel from Perth in Western Australia (11 hours to Tokyo, 11 hours to Detroit, 3 hours to Orlando :scared1: ).

I know, I know - I must be a couple of sandwiches short of a picnic - but don't fret gentle readers, I have a positive mental attitude, a BIG bag of teeny-tiny distractions/activities (my goal is 30 - one an hour) and the Australian Travelling Mother's Last Resort - a big bag of antihistimines... there I'll be, :faint: drooling, snoring and probably worse - but hey, I'll be in another place, a far better place....the other two can fend for themselves...(only kidding... or am I...)

Anyway, I have had to machinate, plot, cajole and bully rest of my small family consisting of DH - or I refer to him as :rolleyes1 NIITSDH (Not-Interested-In-The-Slightest-DH) and 9 year old TrampolineLegoGoGoGoBoy :yay: DS Rory. Sooo, the RESPONSIBILITY is crushing dear SepPoFo's - what happens if we don't have a good time - - or, or it rains  - or someone gets sick :guilty: , or everyone hates it :sad1: - and it was ALL MY IDEA :scared1: !!!!

Blimey - I feel much better now....it's all vented and handed over - gosh you gals are GOOD!! :cutie:

Anway, background here - we're originally from the UK so I went with my family as a teenager in the 80's and in 1992 I took DH on a 4 day whirlwind tour with very early and very skinny edition of the Unofficial Guide (it worked, even back then, we saw everything, but it did stress DH out as I wouldn't allow him to eat - I was FOCUSSED - no time to eat :moped: - chop, chop you SLACKER!.

But now of course, I am mature and wise in man-ways, so we have 14 days and plentyplenty rests aka TGM. There will be NO stress, no late rushing around, all will be calm and serene grasshopper...we will be as butterfly wafted on gentle breeze, as we glide effortlessly from rope drop to strategic FP to scheduled siesta to cunningly planned ADR. It is all in "The Schedule" (oh yes, it's in colour) and there will be absotively, posalutley NO real life interfering in my shiny happy plan.

Anyway, have blathered on and not managed to give dates - we're at POP from 22nd Sept to 7th Oct.

And mines a Sea Breeze (1/3 vodka, 1/3 cranberry juice, 1/3 pink grapefruit juice) or I make a mean Rose Martini...not to mention my Margarita Ice Cream (it's what angels eat on their hen/does nights :cloud9: ).

Welcome~ Can't wait to meet you! 30 hours to get to WDW...OMG, I couldn't imagine. I thought it was hard traveling from Alaska last year.

binkyj, cool! We'll definitely be looking for the lime green mickey head! :)
Also, what was the infamous MNSSHP last year that you mentioned? Was it really crowded? I hadn't really thought about it being super crowded because of free dining.

Our group keeps growing :)

I've been working on getting our park schedules finalized. My husband hates when I do this because he is totally a go with the flow type of guy & I like everything planned.

Here are our ADR's. We are there for 16 nights. Any advice/comment/personal experiences, please let me know :)

Our 2 days at Coronado Springs:
20th Kona Cafe 5:30pm
21st Tony's 5:20pm (still not sure about this one...)

Pop...& the rest of our family gets to town to join us for son's 1st birthday trip:
22nd Ohana Character breakfast 9:10am (Pay out of pocket)
23rd Crystal Palace 5pm
24th Sci-Fi Diner 7:25pm
25th Coral Reef 6:50pm
26th Lunch-Rainforest Cafe (Pay out of pocket)
27th Breakfast-Chef Mickey's 9:50an
Dinner-Cap 'n Jacks 7:45pm
28th We are just going to do a C/S for dinner before MNSSHP
29th Ohana 7pm
30th California Grill 7pm (2 TS)
1st Boma 5:40pm
2nd Le Cellier 4:40pm
3rd Playhouse Disney at Hollywood & Vine 11:40am
4th Spoodles 5pm
5th Narcoosee's 5:30pm (2TS)

WOW! I can't believe you're going to be there for 16 nights! That's great! And what a wonderful way to celebrate your son's first birthday with the whole family at WDW! I'm sure it will be a trip to remember! Your ADR's look great! BTW, we're going to MNSSHP on the 28th also, as are a few others here I believe. What fun

Also, what was the infamous MNSSHP last year that you mentioned? Was it really crowded? I hadn't really thought about it being super crowded because of free dining.

I am BIG on reading the trip reports and there were SO MANY complaints about MNSSHP on 9/29/06. I think there were also some threads about it too. Major over crowding. It was the only day I heard complaints about. I will have to go back and do some scooping to get the exact details.
No complaints about the first day (can't remember what date that was) but I think the 29th was either the 2nd or 3rd one.

Add me to the list we'll be there from 9-22 to 10-2

Welcome Tanya90210!!!

Sept 18 - 28

Sept 22? hmmm..... That might be our Cirque night. If not, we'd like to meet n' greet with fellow Pop'ers!!

Enjoy

Count us in,
We will be there 9/22-10/2 at POP.

My wife is UtahMama and she is planning a Peep Meet with all of her disappearing peep friends. Here is a Link Disappearing Peeps
If you would like to read her Trip Report from 2006 Here is a link to that one "OUR BIG, FAT DISNEY VACATION!"

One more trip report. "OUR BIG, FAT DISNEYLAND ROADTRIP"

See you in September.:cool1:

OH MY GOD! UtahMama is going to be there? I just finished her 2006 trip report and I LOVED it! How exciting that we will have a "celebrity" there. I might have to stalk her....you don't mind, do you? :rotfl2:

Welcome thejollyfinn!
We haven't settled on a meet time yet....just a date :goodvibes I know that Spectro is that night as well and there are a few of us who would love to see it and it might be the only time. BUT we have plenty of time to chat now and come up with a time later :thumbsup2

ok it's 10:30 but it's still morning!!!

I haven't been around for a while. This is just a mother/daughter trip and only because she drew the short straw! I'm trying not to get too obssessed with planning here. Luckily she's still away at college (graduating 5/19!! my baby's all grown up:sad1: ) so I can't drive her nuts. Made the following ADR's & I'm kind of only so-so on them.

9/21 Teppanyaki
9/22 Kona's
9/23 Liberty Tree Tavern
9/24 Hollywood & Vine
9/25 Boma's
9/26 Le Cellier (could only get lunch)

Any suggestions? I planned these to follow the park open the latest on any given day since hrs are SOOOO short when we're there. Oh, what the heck, since you've got me started, I may as well give you all the whole (current) itinerary!!!!

Arrive 9/21 around noon. Hoping to get DD to agree to the 7:35 out of Hartford arriving MCO @ 10am & ME to POP for around noon. The only other choice doesn't arrive until 4PM, WAAAAY too late. Check in and head to Epcot. Always start here and is Spaceship Earth really going to be closed???? This is my traditional first ride (not counting the monorail at MCO). Dinner is at 7:30 and then Illuminations. FW is open til 10PM so we might have a chance to hang there for a little while longer. Or we could skip Ill. til later in the week & do FW.

9/22 DD will sleep til noon. I'm going to go to MGM for early opening & some solo wandering. Katie will either join me here or meet me at Kona's for 6:25 ressies. Then to MK for Spectro & Wishes and back to POP to meet all of you!

9/23 DD will sleep til noon (detect a pattern here?) Need a suggestion for an early park here. MK later with LTT ressies at 7:30. Park open til 11PM & we'll hit attractions having seen Wishes the night before.

9/24 See above! AK for me for early opening. MGM later with H & V Fantasmic pkg. & park open til 11PM.

9/25 Need a suggestion here too although it might be a read at the pool do a quick load of laundry morning.

**Digression*** I try to pack very light and do some laundry at WDW. I don't mind and it forces me to slow down for at least a few hrs!!!

9/25 con't AK for the afternoon. Park closes at 5 & we'll head to AKL for 7PM's at Boma. Thought this would give us time to explore the AKL and have a drink before dinner without rushing. From here, I thought we'd head to DD for a little shopping. Chose this because we'll need to get to a "Hub" to get back to POP anyway.

9/26 You know the drill here! We have 2PM at Le Cellier so we'll probably spend most of the day at Epcot, catch ILL (another last night tradition) and go out the International Gateway to Boardwalk for a while (what do you think? And what would be the easiest way back to POP from here?)

9/27 only have 6 day passes but I can add another day once down there if I need it can't I? ME will be picking us up around 2PM so, if there's any park time to be had, it'll only be me.

OK, give me some feedback! I have no one to discuss this with and it's DRIVING ME NUTS!!!!!!

I too have to take it easy in the morning's cause I have to remember it is DH's vacation too. So we have compromised! The first couple of days we will leave late morning to parks that have Evening EMH and then a couple of days we will go in the morning to parks that have a 9am opening. No early morning hours for DH!

I LOVE the Kona Cafe:love: and Le Cellier  and have ADR's for both of those again. I really like Boma the one and only time I was there but DH is a Meat/Potato/Pasta kinda guy and somethings weren't spiced to his liking. The Liberty Tree Tavern I like for lunch but not dinner. Thats just a preference cause I would prefer not to eat "Thanksgiving Dinner" except on Thanksgiving and Christmas, lol. The Hollywood and Vine, to me, is a character only experience. Don't go there with high hopes on the food and you won't be disappointed. I would LOVE to try Teppanyaki sometime :thumbsup2 !

I am kinda thinking we should have a mini meet at Spectro and Wishes on 9/22 then we can all hop the bus back to the POP and have a few drinks!

I will post my tentative schedule on another post.

9/24 - MGM!
-Same as above ;) Either head over in the morning and come back for break or head over around lunch time

-Stay at MGM for Eve EMH

-Head over to the Contemporary late morning and rent Water Mice and tool around the lake for awhile

we were there last year for Fantasmic pkg, too. Didn't want to use 2 TS for Brown Derby although we loved the food there and MM's menu wasn't appealing to us. H & V was one of the nice surprises of the trip!! I was so nervous because of the bad reviews but we really liked this buffet. Nothing fancy but good food. It was a GOD AWFUL!!!!! hot day and I loved the fresh, cold fruit to start, must have brought my body temp down 20 degrees!!. The peel & eat shrimp were delicious. The family also really enjoyed the pot roast, garlic mashed potatoes and green beans. But the highlight of the meal was DS coming back to the table with a bowl of what he thought was cranberry sauce. Took a BIG bite - wrong!!! BEETS!!!!! You never have the camera out when you need it :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

So I'm fine with H & V again and I LOVE Thanksgiving dinner & we didn't do any character meals last trip so I thought I'd sneak one in without telling DD. When we get there, I'll just play dumb:rolleyes1 !!

I did the H and V about 4 years ago so maybe it has changed or I just had a really "off" night, lol! DH loves Thanksgiving dinner anytime as well but since he doesn't want to help plan then to bad for him :thumbsup2

The only reason I chose MM was for the italian food. DH really wanted Alfredo's - we liked it the one time we were there although most of the reviews are bad - but they are closing it before I get there. Tony's didn't appeal to us either

Feel free to stalk all you want? I think everyone on the DIS boards is a stalker in some sort of way.:rotfl2: You at least have pictures of us to print for reference.

Hi binkyj286 - another martini fan..woohoo, if you like chocolate and coconut try brown sugar sprinkled fresh pineapple slices cooked on the bbq (in pieces or wedges on sticks) and then dip into melted chocolate sauce made by mixing good melted chocolate with malibu (coconut rum) and a bit of cream...yum, yum or more interesting is use chilli vodka instead…very nice too:thumbsup2

I too am awed that Utahmama and Goofy4UM will be around – :worship: we’re not worthy … :worship: we’re not worthy…

Becky_AK – Looking forward to meeting you all too – if I can still speak…if not, I’ll just lie down and I’m sure some nice person will stick a straw into my mouth – just hope I have enough energy to suck!

Keliblue – thank you, ahh a nice cold tinny :drinking: – hope we get to meet and share a real one! :woohoo:

And Pooch, loved your story of the beets :rotfl: – I had an embarrassing experience at a dimly lit party in a posh house: nervous, I grabbed a handful of what I thought was chips – YEEUUCHHH, BLEUCH, YACK, YACK, YACK…yup, I’d just tried to chow down on a handful of posh perfumed wood shavings in a bowl of pot pourri… :lmao:

Hi everyone~ Hope you all had a great weekend. I spent most of the weekend sick & packing up my apartment because we are moving into a new house. Yay! I'll be so happy when we are done moving though, it's a lot of work, especially with a baby around who thinks he needs all of the attention :)

Ok, maybe we should compare notes. Which is worse...30 hours on a plane with 1 child, or 20 hours in a van with seven? It's like a wacky math problem, eh? LOL

I guess since we stop once for the night we are slightly better rested, but you get to let someone else drive. Hmmmmm.....

I've always wondered what's in a Seabreeze. I want one of those. I also heard of a Creme Brulee martini on another DIS thread, and that sounds awful good too.

Considering I have been "Pregnant and/or nursing, since 1998!" I haven't had a lot of drinks in the last few years, and everything sounds good. LOL

Hope we get to meet you! :)
