If she is elderly, before getting anything, check with the county you live in. Most should have something similar to a "Council on Aging" or something similar. You may find out about it from the Health and Human Services Department. Some of them have funds available for buying and installing equipment like grab bars, etc. for people who are elderly. If they don't do that, they may have suggestions for how to safely add a grab bar, based on her abilities. Someone who needs something right now for steadying would put weight on it if they started to slip or if they become weaker. So, it may be easier to just something now that she can absolutely count on.Yes Sue, I agree. I am to scared to use such a device, as I actually use the bars to assist me getting in/out and up/down.
I know I put a lot of weight on, and a lot of trust in, the bars!![]()
I am going to look at them though, as a possibility for my mother. I know having them to simply steady her getting in/out of her home shower would be a blessing. She would not pull herself as I do, she would simply use it as a steadying/security feature and I bet those would work well.
Thanks again to all you wonderful people that are so willing to share information and suggestions... this forum is awesome!![]()
