I've only been there once for 1 night. Going back with my 3 kids in a week for a few days. Last time we stayed in the 60's building but my DD wants to stay in another building. Which is best & is a refurbished room better? Also I read they have a microwave in the food court has anyone ever taken things like hotdogs to cook in it for the kids? Or is this unacceptable? Trying to save money. Thanks.

Microwaves are for whatever you want to cook. Where would you store the hotdogs since there are no refrigerators in the rooms. If you had an ice chest that might work. Toasters and microwaves are available at the Everything Pop quick service.

I like the 1950s section, it is quieter than the 60s, has its own pool, and is a quick walk to food court and busstop.

I have never used the microwaves or even noticed them for that matter so I cant really comment.

Tips to save money - get the refillable mugs (you could probably get 2 and share)
Alot of the counter service meals are big enough to share. I dont know the ages of your kids or what their appetites are but even DH & I have shared the CS meals. I do know the breakfast platter was definietly enough for at least 2 people.
Also, they have the option of getting a large pizza at the food court for about $15.00. You could feed the whole family for that and with the refillable mugs, drink refills are free!

We never took hot dogs, but we did take microwavable mac and cheese that comes in the cups. We also took oatmeal. As far as the rooms go, why is it she wants to stay in another building? What are your needs? will you have a car, is being close to the food court important or is parking? I like the 50's section...

You used to be able to rent a fridge for your room at pop century for $10 per day. They will deliver it to your room for you.

The pizza is the best deal and taste great. We are still craving one and it has been 9 months since we were there. I agree with the refillable mug, worth the money. I used it for oatmeal every morning then would fill with a beverage to take with me.
Have a great time. Wish I was there.

Thanks for the feedback. I have a cooler & I also have one of the fridges you can plug into your car & take with you to the room. Might use that. My DD just wants to stay in another building this time no reason. As for being close to the buses doesn't matter to us really. I take my own coffee pot otherwise I'd have to be close I need my coffee in the mornings to get me started.

We really prefer the 80's or 90's since we drive. You're just able to find closer spots there. If you walk by the parking lot instead of through the middle of the property, you're super duper close to buses. The refurbished rooms are sooo much nicer, as they should be. I see lots of complaints about storage space being less in them, but we've never been bothered by that. The look is nicer and the carpet is the selling point for me. Cleaner, softer, and so much cuter in the rooms that haven't been walked on as much yet. Have fun! :goodvibes

60's is redone as well. I stayed there last month.

Not all of it anyway. We were there last week and got a room that hadn't been touched yet. Our 90's room this week was done though.

Isn't there a thread somewhere that keeps up with what's been finished?

Keep in mind that a request is just that-- a request. Just make sure your daughter understands that she might not be an another building.

Here is the thread about the Pop refurb, it looks like all sections but the 50's are done now:

To save money we definitely share meals. I also will get myself a kids meal from time to time which is a very good deal. Also the refill mug is a great money saver.

My favorite things to share in the Pop food court are the shrimp lo mein, chicken parmesan, fried chicken meal (they don't have that every night), double cheeseburgers and the breakfast platters. All of those dh and I share easily between the two of us. The whole pizza thing is probably the best deal to be had, its nice to be able to easily take that back to the room.

There are toasters and micorwaves as well as a hot water dispenser so that you can make simple things.

I'll also add that in the parks, many cs places have great deals, namely the chicken meal at Cosmic Rays in the MK. I can feed my family of four on that thing!

We stayed in the 70s last time and it was great. The lake was just outside our door and we weren't that far away from the food court. It was quiet and peacfull. And the parking lot was fairly close, too!

I requested a 1950's lake side room. Heard it was quieter with a good view.
It will be our first time at POP, and staying onsite.

Good advice on here...can I get some more? What is your favorite room location at POP? Our first desire is for a lake view. Which building do you recommend?

And "amen" on the request comment. We went to POP 2 years ago and requested a 3rd floor lake view room in the 60's building. We got 2nd floor 50's facing the parking lot. You know what? It was still great!

I liked the 50's section, pool view and the 80's section, pool view. Want to try the 60's section at some point. Of course now that I live here who knows when I will get to try the other areas.

Any ideas where in POP they have adjoining rooms as we are taking 5 of us in June and to be honest Wife and I would like to have a room to ourselves as we are taking three girls and they can be very excitable. so for the extra money a night over another resort we are going to try it this way.
