Pop Century advice

If we are driving, we prefer (as a PP mentioned) the 90's section. You can park really close to your room and it's just a straight shot across the parking lot to Classic Hall and the buses. The computer pool is close by. We don't like the 80's, mainly b/c the color there is very....lurid.

To save $$, if you have a car, you can get breakfast food items and have them in your room. We also bring our own coffee maker. (My mom has used our coffee maker to make hot chocolate or heat up water for soup) We have brought peanut butter and jelly sandwiches into the parks. We have also brought potato chips and other snacks. They will allow you to bring food in, just no glass containers and no alcohol.

When we do get CS meals in the parks, if we are paying out of pocket, we just get cups of water to drink (they are free). I bring in a few sodas for my husband since he *has* to have them.

90s is probably my favorite. It was very quiet, and close to the pool. We would walk through the parking lot to get to the buses. Having the car close by is convenient to us (I'm a heavy packer) and I love how everything just feels so new. My concern with having a child with you would be the walk. I think it's the greatest distance from the food court & buses but it isn't an issue for DH and myself.

80s is closer to the food court and buses, but I found the atmosphere of the 90s to be better. It really is hard to say what didn't make this a favorite for me.

70s would have to be a close second choice for us. Our car wasn't close, but we had a lake view room on the third floor and really enjoyed it. I just loved looking out over the lake in the morning :cloud9:

50s wasn't renovated when I was there (Aug '09). The pool (bowling pin) is my favorite though and the walk to the parking lot, food court and buses isn't bad at all.

As for food, I agree with everyone who recommends sharing. A lot of their sandwiches are enough to feed almost 3 people.

I hope you guys have a great trip

Sorry but the mugs are of no value unless you really want the mug for home use. $15 a mug. OP you are only going for a few days? Buy 12 packs if you want soda and we buy either juiceboxs (great for taking to the parks) or big bottles that we keep in cooler. Renting fridge again not worth it. A $5 styroform (sp) filled with ice keeps everything cooler. Gonna bring hot dogs just remember the ziploc bags. Also there is an offsite restaurant not far from Pop called Logans. We love it, we went 2 weeks ago. You get 2 meals for $13.99 (Monday - Wednesday all day and all other days from 3-6) kids 12 and under meals are $2.99. DGkids got grilled chicken (ok I stole a bite or two, so juicy) potato and drink for $2.99. It was a full boneless breast, I was amazed, looked bigger than my 6oz steak. With mine and DD27 we got steak potato and salad. Plus they have yummy yeast rolls. Lol can you tell I love that place? It's a 5 min drive from Pop. Leave Pop turn left, next light turn left, at the corner of Gaylord Palms turn right 1/4 mile uturn at light and pull in.

Another thing we do is buy snack at the grocery store. We love apple slices and caramel at Pop the little container is $3.49 you can buy enough for 4 servings for $5 at Publix (BTW there is one right next to Logans).

If anything remember mugs aren't worth the price $15 for a mug that you have to walk to refill not worth it. My daughters taught me that when they were teenagers. Mugs were $7 back then. I'd buy mugs and they'd reach into the cooler for a soda we had for the drive up to Disney.

Also for location, 50's still has 2 bldgs not complete, all other bldgs are done. The newly Refurbd rooms are great.
