Day Two, Thursday October 18, 20073 Part 1
Magic Kingdom and Family Magic Tour
I had a hard time sleeping on Wednesday night - mostly because I was so excited to start our first full day of WDW and partly because someone in the next room was up all night with a nasty cough. I woke up for good at 6:00 but lay in bed until our 6:30 wake up call from Mickey (and Stitch).
I jumped in the shower and started to get ready while waiting for my mom to get up. One thing I miss at POP that they had the moderates is the curtain separating the sleeping area from the vanity area. But, with the light and noise I made my mom had no choice but to get up.

She went straight for the food court to get coffee. Samantha was awake but moving very slowly. We had breakfast in the room muffins for Samantha, cereal for my mom and a granola bar for me. Samantha was still taking her time getting ready which is not usually like her especially at Disney. Our plan was to get to MK for EMH at 8 and we wanted to be at the bus stop by
7:30. Samantha told me the week before that she wanted to try Splash Mountain first thing so she wouldnt have to ride it once her hair was done at BBB. Well, it turns out she was starting to chicken out about trying Splash Mountain which is why she was being slow to get ready. I finally caught on and told her we didnt have to ride if she didnt want to. Problem solved she got ready real quick and we were at the bus stop by 7:45.
There was a huge line for MK due to EMH. A bus was there when we walked up but we didnt get on that one. A second bus pulled up almost immediately and we were able to get on. My mom and Sam found a seat and I stood near the back. I was right in front of the back exit door and felt like I was going to fall out. This was one crazy bus driver! I had to hang on for dear life he seemed to take the corners on two wheels and stepped on the breaks pretty quick! I had my first ride of the day!
We got to MK and through bag check around 8:15. We had to go to guest services so I could pick up our new annual passes and my mom had to buy her 3-day pass. She must have had a new cast member because it took FOREVER for my mom to get her tickets.

My mom was using a gift card to pay and I guess the CM had never done this before. She had to call over a manager and finally got it resolved after 15-20 minutes. We finally got in the MK a little after 8:30.
Main Street looked great all decorated for fall and Halloween. We took some pictures and took our time walking down Main Street. I love the feel of Main Street and enjoy taking in the sights on our way in.
My mom and Sam:
This was taken later in the day - I love to watch them!:
Pal Mickey chimed in and told us that there was no wait at Buzz Lightyear so we headed over there. Samantha and I rode together and my mom rode alone. I stink at this game! My mom always scores close to 100,000 and I get a measly 19,000 or so! Samantha only had a couple hundred points because she likes to spend her time spinning the cart round and round. Maybe that is why I cant score high?
After Buzz Lightyear we went to ride Astro Orbiter. This is a new one for both Samantha and my mom. I hadnt been on this since probably high school. There was no line for this at all we got right on the elevator and up to the top. Samantha slipped when we entered the elevator it was a little wet on the ground from some earlier rain. She was fine but a little startled. The CMs were great the one at the bottom of the elevator came running over to see if she was ok and the one at the top of the elevator asked if we needed anything. We got right on the ride Sam rode with my mom this time and I rode alone. My mom didnt care for this ride too much she gets dizzy easily and this ride seems to go faster than Dumbo or the Magic Carpet ride. Samantha loved it though. The views from up there are amazing though I couldnt get any good pictures. It was way too short of a ride though (as most of them are!). When we got off, Sam and I got in the very short line to ride again. (My mom sat this one out).
Next we went of the People Mover. This is a favorite of Samantha and me. My mom was happy to just be able to sit and relax for a few minutes. We were going to ride again but it was about 9:30 and we were supposed to check in for the Family Magic Tour at 9:45 so we headed back to Main Street.
Mom and Sam on the People Mover:
We checked in at the building next to City Hall (cant think of what it is called) and they gave us our name tags. There were large Peter Pan stickers with our names on them. They had bottles of ice cold water for us (something sorta free from Disney!) which were very refreshing after our running around. We had about 15 minutes until the tour started so we just hung out in front of City Hall. All of a sudden Daisy Duck came out so we got in line to see her Samantha and my mom both really like Daisy Duck!
Our tour guide came out right around 10:00. I cant remember her name (should have wrote it down) but she was great especially with the kids. I dont want to give away too much in case any of you ever do the Family Magic Tour but it was a lot of fun. The premise is that some pirates are trying to take over the Magic Kingdom and turn it all into Pirate Kingdom.

Mickey called our guide and told them we had a mission to find Captain Hooks hook in order to save the Magic Kingdom. They had a large map of clues that the kids would read and we would go around the park looking for things in specific locations. While walking, the guide would do fun things with the kids (and adults) like Follow the Leader or she would make us walk a certain way. Im sure we looked goofy, especially the adults who participated (of course I was one of them!).
There were probably 15-20 people on the tour half of which were kids. The guide would call the kids over to her to talk about something that the parents werent supposed to hear. One boy on the tour was really funny he must have been before because he knew all the answers and always knew where our next stop would be. One time the guide said, Ok all kids come over here and the boy did not come. She asked him why he wasnt coming and he said Im not a kid, Im a teenager! The boys mom piped in and said, Hes not a teenager, hes 11!! It was really funny! The boy I guess thought he was too old for this tour but he sure seemed to be having fun!
When one of our clues brought us over by Buzz Lightyear there was no line so we all got to ride it. I again scored horribly and my mom did great. Samantha continued to spin our cart.
At the end of the tour/scavenger hunt we all got to meet Wendy and Peter Pan. They played some games with the kids and then we all got to get our pictures taken.
I would highly recommend this tour for kids probably age 5-10 would enjoy it the most. Though I really enjoyed it too! It was $27 per persona and we got a discount (I think 15%) for paying with our Disney Visa. Well worth it in my opinion something different for the kids to experience, especially if theyve been to MK multiple times.
Up next Day 1 Part 2 more Magic Kingdom, BBB and
