Poor, lonely, forlorn Carousel of Progress

I'll be going on the CoP with my group of 10 including my 79 yeat old grandmother and my 8 year old son and 6 year old daughter. I believe it is attractions like this that has made Disney what it is. A place that can be shared with the whole family.
I'm sad that Small World will be closed because I really wanted to take my gram on it. She has never been to Disney World and these are the types of things that will thrill her. And the rest of my family will be delighted to share these attractions with her.
Some of us like the wild rides, some the educational and cultural attractions, and we of course have a princess and a Buzz fan. But it is great to have these timeless classics to share with the WHOLE family.
I know they may not be the flashiest, but I enjoy them for what they are. Disney (and family) magic.

I have to agree tammydel , rides like CoP and It's a Small World make WDW such a great place for all ages. I would include The Country Bears & Tiki Birds also.

That it has NOT been modernized and is not a thrill ride is PRECISELY why it retains its charm for all generations. As a 11 year old at the '64-65 NY Worlds Fair, it was a favorite then and remains so.

Well, for me, I am not talking about updating the existing scenes - excepting dusting, mending, and routine maintenience to keep it in top running order. I mean that we pretty much have reached the last scene - voice activated commands, virtual reality video games, etc. I think that we need a new final scene of possible ideas for what Disney imagineers envision the future to be now.

BTW - was that last scene really in COP at the World's Fair?

:)

BethR, the last scene was changed about 7-8 years ago. I am struggling to remember exactly what the original last scene was. I believe there were just minor changes. The voice activated stove and the virtual reality glasses were the main changes as I remember. There are dedicated websites on this if you want to research.
