Poop Smells in Hotel Rooms?

I seriously hate to go potty when anyone is around. I am known as the person who will not go number 2 if not alone. I have been married for 16 years and I will go downstairs to our bedroom lock that door and lock the bathroom door too. Before my husband started working at home I would wait till he was at work to go. :lmao:

When we have been at Disney we always have two rooms so I will go back to the room and use the potty while the kids and husband are swimming and if it is an emergency I will shut them out of one room and lock both doors. I normally wait till it is shower time too. I know people think I am nuts and I am sure if I really had to go I wouldn't have a choice.

I live with 2 teenage DS's, 1 preteen DS, DH, and a 7 year old DS. I know they could care less who was around when they went or what it smelled like after.
I am glad this question was asked cause now I don't feel so bad.

:rotfl: :rotfl: i have thought of this before! maybe its why i always end up going to WDW solo! :confused3
honestly, hopefully whoever you bring is a good enough friend beforehand that it doesnt really affect things! i feel like i should post a pic of the cover of the book "everybody poops"

This thread is cracking me up especially the 'courtesy flush' posts. :rotfl:
Haven't read every post but if no one has mentioined it Bath & Body works is carrying small stick up type air fresheners they're just $5 and you can clip them on to the side of the toilet, they don't stick on. The best part is that they also carry refills in a 2 pack for $5. They have several nice tropical scents.

Be careful with the lighting a match idea. I have a freind who did this years ago and almost burned down his house! True!

I can totally relate to having to be prepared for this. My brother in law has documented instances of clearing rooms, having paint peel off of walls, and killing perfectly live flowers after he leaves the bathroom.

During one of he and my sisters vacations, he literally made one of their friends throw up.

I think if you spray a little air freshner before the act, light a match, then spray a little afterwards you are fine.

Great thread.

...but if no one has mentioined it Bath & Body works is carrying small stick up type air fresheners....
Er.... stick up WHERE!?!? I'd rather my wife buy something she can just set down on the countertop or something rather than something that she can "stick up" somewhere...

:rotfl:

I can't imagine anyone willingly doing their business in a public washroom. I can barely handle having to pee in a public restroom :rotfl2:

1) who would have ever thought this thread could bring harmony to The DIS?????? :confused3 I mean really, we argue over stupid stuff like reusing used cups!

2) I have to watch what I am eating or drinking when I read posts, I almost splattered spaghetti sauce on my monitor! :rotfl2:

Flush as soon as it comes out instead of sitting there while you finish. Flush multiple times through the process. Flushing before the odor has time to move around the room really helps to cut down on the intensity of the smell.

Also try to go in the morning and take a shower immediately afterwards before opening the door to the bathroom. Make sure you turn on the fan/air vent in the bathroom. This also help to get rid of the odor before opening the door.

Good Luck! lol! :)

the thought of a "courtesy flush" is a great thought and by all means nice that you are trying to be polite. but unfourtunatly the courtesy flush doesnt work. the smell is from when the "bowel movement" leaves the rectum and hits the water. so all a courtesy flush does is airates it a little more and smells it up more. once the fecal matter hits the water it is sealed in. another source of smell is from the fecal matter on your rectal area, you can wipe between and that will help. when you are done light 2 strike anywhere matches and the unpleasant oders will disapper faster than your money in the magic kingdom! good luck!

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: This is too funny! BUT I hear that taking chorophyll will lessen the smell of poop... seriously people with colostomy bags have used it to cut down on the odor.

I never would have thought about this...however...now I am going to pack some sort of air freshner!:thumbsup2

My dad is like this. Here is what he does to mitigate the problem:

1) Goes in a public restroom
2) Waits until everyone is ready to leave the room for the day. We all leave and wait outside; he "does his business" and then meets us outside. We don't return to the room until hours later, when the smell will have dissipated.

Have the person either use a restroom in the lobby or a restroom out by the pool.

Sorry if someone has said this, but I didn't want to read the whole thread... Walmart has an orange spray that comes in a small bottle. Maybe 2 or 3 ounces? It is STRONG. My Mom keeps it at her house because my dad has a weak stomach and has been known to make HIMSELF throw up! LOL!:lmao:

:lmao::rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2:

plop, plop, stink, stink, oh what a relief it is!

#1. How did snoring get mixed into this thread?

#2. (haha, I said #2!) For those of you who advocate pooping and stinking up a lobby bathroom, so that you don't offend your family, when you have a perfectly good private bathroom in your resort room,... your idea STINKS!!! :lmao: ;)

If I did, I would suggest they speak to their doctor about it (and/or change their diet radically). That is not normal or healthy.

Not to sound gross, but most doctors agree that people whose "poo" smells bad are actually eating healthier. Allegedly most food that is green (salads, broccoli, etc) makes people's "poo" smell bad. Eating foods with a lot of vitamins in them actually causes the smell.

If all you eat is french fries and foods without vitamins and minerals, there is less of a smell. It's the truth.:idea::idea:

For such a TMI topic, this thread has certainly gotten ALOT of attention! All the things we worry about and make family vacations so memorable! I have this picture of the OP sitting her father down for a "poop talk" to tell him about all the wonderful advice she got from the DIS! To be a fly on the wall!

It's funny, I always know when my step-dad is looking for the paper what he is headed to his throne. It's kinda annoying. I remember a family trip to Chicago, we all met in the lobby ready to get breakfast next thing you know he is buying a newspaper and heading up stairs to"drop it off." He tries to be discreet, but somethings you know. Luckily, we are a private family and when we vacation with my parents, all the couples get their own room so we only have spouses to deal with. My awful ex-inlaws was another story.
