Seems like a lovely start to your trip!

In my last two trips to WDW we had a car as well and it does give you a very different perspective! I have noted it too that on the WDW maps it looks like the only way onto porperty is via the official entrances, but that is certainly not the case! And evading the toll plaza is not too difficult at all. When we stayed at Saratoga Springs this last trip we followed the rule: Always turn left when exiting the resort (turning right would have brought us into the mess of Dowtown Disney) and we ended up driving past Fort Wilderness Campground and that way you bypass the toll plaza...

I really like the look of the drinks and the food on the patio. Sounds like a great place for a break!!

And the picture of Olaf enjoying TOT is hillarious!

We weren't fans of Derby when we went back in 2007, but I'd go for the drinks.

Thanks for the scenic tour... how did you like seeing the 'backside of Disney'?

I've always been scared to eat at HBD... not sure if it is the prices or the fact that I would be bringing 3 small kids in there. But eating outside on the patio seems like a doable option someday.

The backside of Disney is a lot like the backside of water..........just a little drier. I'm with you on the HBD. The menu has never appealed to me, and the prices just add to that. But having "drinks on the patio" (verandah Cynthia???) and the "appies" was a great way to experience HBD!

Hey, it's not like we have to pay to park, so the park plaza toll booths are nothing more than a speed bump! But since you say that, later in the trip you'll find the toll booths can have a knack for being sneaky too............

LOL. Still that's kind of cool, and interesting.

Something about the phrase "favorite offsite Hampton Inn" just sounds...

Fun at DHS, I wonder if that berry margarita is the same as the berry merry (or merry berry) I can't recall, from the holidays. That was yummy. I would like to try some of the items on the Derby lounge menu, maybe in Feb.

Don't know if the same, but good nonetheless! I get a little lucky with some of the items since I don't have all the food allergies. If I remember, that slaw was pretty good.......even WITH carrots in it!

It's always good to have a favorite off site Disney hotel. I found a Fairfield Inn right near the airport that is my new "go to" arrival hotel.

Bummer for leaving your credit card behind. Glad you didn't have to wash any Disney dishes.

Love the picture on ToT. I think we definitely need a group ToT ride in February. It's always more fun as a group.

Olaf kept having a lot of fun.........at least while we were carrying him around! HBD patio was a great idea!

I never carry cash either anymore. I have no idea what they would have done, but I glad we came up with something. I usually keep my gift cards with my pass info but I can't remember if we used gift cards or cash.

The Princess Half marathon is happening and quite a few are running ( not me) so a trip is in order to cheer on those who are.

Last I left you we were enjoying some yummy treats and drinks at HBD and managed to pay the bill and avoid Disney jail since we could not tap and pay yet.


We were in our FP+ window of 5:50-6:50 for TSM. At 6:08 we were here.



I will let you all guess who won.


Apparently we both play a bit better after a few drinks. I will say I had better accuracy.



Out and about it was time to see the Frozen Wandering Oaken Trading Post.

There was a snowman building area as well as a snack area. There was also suppose to be some game inside that venue but I never found it.

Time for our last FP+.



While we wait at the “gate”, You see the geek panel? Well the CM stepped away to assist someone. One boy stepped over and was about to push some buttons and pick up the phone. The people inside were about 3 seconds away from an emergency landing.



Our next adventure was here.


Neither of us have done this in a while and well it was August and hot so air conditioning was very welcome.









We then wandered in the Art of Disney. I had taken a picture of these but never the price so…





Not too bad… I thought with the price of gold now it would be the cash price of a Poly bungalow for the night.


It is finally getting dark. The question is will it rain, or not? Another question is are we too tired to wait for the fireworks.
