ok. I have to ask, because frankly I was so confused when people were commenting about rudeness, because I hadn't read anything that I construed as being upset or rude, then someone replied something about getting popcorn smilies. Is that suppose to be an insult of some sort. Gosh, I would need to know something like that because I'd end up insulting people without meaning to.

I really appreciate all the nice supportive comments from those who have made them. I've been avoiding responding to each one because I just want this thread to go away and that would keep bumping it to the top.

I'm definitely a "newbie", but definitely not a troll. If you look at my posts it's actually kind of funny, you'll see I was looking for the exact same rezzie for this year as for last - same exact week - tied to the northern Maine Potato Harvest school break. You really can't make this stuff up.

I think I didn't make many posts last year because I quickly signed up for tour guide mike and there is also a helpful and friendly forum there (not saying this one isn't, just feeling a lil less so after being called a potential troll and all the sarcastic popcorn smileys at my expense on this thread...).

I don't have thick skin. If there is anywhere I can buy some please let me know. :beg:

and for the record, I am the type of person that if there was a "land mine" sticky, I WOULD read it as a newbie and I would walk 100 miles around each issue. So go for it!

I have some thick skin you can borrow. You don't have to apologize and please don't be hard on yourself. If you don't ask you won't know. Sometimes looking through the enourmous amounts of threads to find that one answer you are looking for can be overwhelming. I am sure most of us have been in your shoes one time or another. Let it roll off your shoulders.

Right, except usually the people watching the wreck try to be discreet about it, whereas on a message board they post popcorn smileys to show that they are hunkering down to "enjoy" the drama, which isn't very nice if you are being made to feel like you are intentionally causing drama (or even, as in my case currently, quite unintentionally).

You might be new, but you totally get it! That's exactly what it means. Maybe for a nicer person, leave off the "at your expense" part -- but it's about watching to see what happens next!

whether suruptiously or overtly, if you are watching you are watching. might as well be honest about it. only here can we make an issue about a cartoon cardboard box.

You know I think I am making it worse by trying to explain why I felt a little bombarded with the original responses to my question. It just didn't feel "welcoming", it felt like "wow you idiot, what a stupid question".

But that's okay, because it turns out it WAS a stupid question, and like I said, I don't have the thickest of skin in the world.

it's really not a big deal, and I've got my answer, and at least 50% of the replies have been really sweet so I'm going to call it a wash and move on and hope that my next post will be much less interesting.

I think most everyone on here with few posts gets accused of being a troll at one time or another, so don't let that keep you from posting again. But I know how you feel because I was accused of being a troll not long ago because I made the mistake of...drumroll please....not liking CBR. Gawd forbid! I think I was even turned into the moderators. There's some serious fanatics on here, for sure!

Yeah, I've noticed the hot topics and was fortunate not to fall into one accidentally. There are so many valid questions and the best way to know the answers is to ask. Nothing at all wrong with asking and things certainly do change over time.

The one with the water fountain's was a good one. I don't even think they only meant Brazilian people but the rest of the world.

When I read "why don't they except OUR rules ?" the little devil in me almost answered : Well its because the rest of the world believes that all Americans are like Paris Hilton.Walking around almost naked and showing here boo.....to the whole world.

So what's the harm is sitting with your bare feet in a fountain?

Why is that a hot topic? I don't get it. We saw many children and adults swimming /playing in the lake at the Polynesian and Grand Floridian.

Now for myself I would not have dipped a foot in the lakes because I saw a real snake and the though of any chance feeling an alligator nibbling on my feet makes me shiver but why aren't people allowed to swim there? What's the big moral catch?
