PolynesianBride'sPJ 12/6/10 Sunset Pointe- TEASER PICS UP!

LOL we're using the vinylmation Mickey as well...but now I want the blue one!

Adelia!!! You looked absolutely gorgeous at your hair/make up trial! Perfection! :goodvibes The umbrellas are cute...I hope you don't have to use them though!. ;) Very clever guest book...(good idea Karen!!) What a neat souvenir/keepsake for a Disney Wedding! Hope you have a great weekend! :goodvibes
Thanks Kelly:goodvibes I really hope I don't need the umbrellas as well but I figure it's better safe than sorry;) I'm so glad Karen discovered this awesome guest book idea too- I'm really excited about it!

I might just have a tiny feeling that I might just borrow the guest book idea...too stinking cute!!!!:rolleyes1:thumbsup2
I think Karen started a trend:rotfl:

My guests had so much fun with the vinlymation! We brought him back for dinner since some people forgot to sign it, and once of our guests had a fun time making a photo opt with it (the place cards are kind of in the way)!

IMG_4366.jpg

The only problem is some people said it looks like "donnie darko" (sp??) Mickey, so now it creeps me out a bit!
So cute! I love your place cards too! Like I said when I went to Disney in December and saw the Vinylmation for the first time I definately thought they were a bit wierd, but they've grown on me... plus it's the next new fad:lmao:

your hair and make-up looked beautiful! And that's so amazing that it stayed so well until the next day! The lighting in the resorts is terrible, we had that problem during my trial too. Lol, I like your cake search report too, I'll have to go to BW bakery one day and try that peanut butter cake. The guestbook idea is really cute and I love the umbrellas, they're so tropical.
Thanks:goodvibes I agree the lighting was terrible in the resort, I wish I would have noticed the pics weren't great before I got home. I feel like my make-up looked so much better than what the pics look. Oh well.

LOL we're using the vinylmation Mickey as well...but now I want the blue one!
HAHA! It's now officially a new trend in Disney weddings. I hate to tell you though I didn't see a blue one (the one in the pic is actually purple) but I bet you there's a blue one somewhere on Disney!

So my STD's are done and went in the mail last week. They were super easy to do and I think they turned out pretty cute. I was having trouble with invitations, etc bc everywhere it seems that 25 is the minimum and I only needed 11:confused: But I found these really cute invitations at www.berryberrysweet.com and then they print through zazzle so they're super cheap. I found an invite I liked but not in the right color (she had purple and teal) so I e-mailed her and within the day she posted them in my color request (lime green)! I highly recommend her to anyone, she has been really great to work with.

So here they are:

Then I took the KTTW cards I picked up in December and put a self adhesive magnet on the back and a clear label on the front and magically I had STD magnets as well!

SDC10432-1.jpg

Since we can only have 8 at the ceremony but we have other family members that have insisted on tagging along even though they have been well aware from the beginning that they would not be able to come to the ceremony, only the dinner. So I put different wording on some of the magnets. Those only coming to dinner reads "Save the Date 12/6/2010 for a casual dinner celebrating Adelia and Ryan's Wedding". I don't think there was any confusion to start with but I felt it important to make sure it was clear.

Then to package it all together I just took some silver cardstock, made slits to hold the magnets, and glued it on the back. (the back of the STD was green to start with- so cute)

SDC10427-1.jpg

I got some cute silver envelopes from paperandmore.com (because they sell them as singles). At first I didn't buy the zazzle stamps but after I had the finished product I thought it would really pull it all together so I ordered them!

SDC10438.jpg

very stinking cute! love them!
I'm thinking about using the KTTW cards we got as place cards...not sure yet...but it is a thought...then I have the luggage tags as favors...who knows I haven't decided yet...
I'm trying to get on berryberrysweet but it isn't coming up???

If you're getting married on the 6th when are you coming down to WDW? We are leaving the 3rd...any chance we can meet up???

I still have a few more updates to come from my Disney trip but I just found these really cute umbrellas that I wanted to share. Rain on my wedding day is my biggest fear since our wedding is outside and getting married in a conference somewhere pales in comparison to Sunset Pointe. So I found these and thought they would brighten my day if it does rain so I ordered them and shipped them to my parents house in FL.

For me:

For DF:

I LOVE THESE!!!! I need some:) Where did you find these?:worship:

I love the save the dates! they are really cute. AND I really want to know where you got those umbrellas! thats my biggest fear as well.

YES! I would love to meet up! We are arriving on 11/28 (I was kinda thinking I would stalk your weddin:laughing: We will have to make plans!

I think the KTTW cards are great to use as anyting- they are so easy to make into anything! I originally was going to make them into luggage tags to send as save-the-dates but last minute decided magnets would be better.

Try http://www.zazzle.com/berryberrysweet , it will take you to the same place!

Glad you like them, www.ArtistGifts.com you should check it out... they had tons of different ones!

Thanks!:goodvibes I posted it above but I got them at www.ArtistGifts.com . I actually kind of liked rainy days (good sleeping weather since I work nites) til I decided to get married outside, now everytime it rains all I can think about is how nervous I am that it will rain on Dec 6 in Orlando, FL:lmao:

Those save the dates are too cute! And so are the umbrellas! Great job.
Thanks:goodvibes Glad you like them!

The Save the Dates are so cute. I really like how simple and elegant they are and I think the little palm trees is perfect since your wedding is at Sunset Point.

Your save the dates are so awesome!!
Thanks!:goodvibes I'm really happy with them and thrilled that they were so easy!

Great STDs and those umbrellas are just amazing.
Thanks! I talked to my dad today and he said the umbrellas came, my mom is out of town and forgot to tell him I ordered them so he was really confused as to why he got 2 colorful umbrellas:lmao:

your STDs are so cute!
Thanks:goodvibes

Thanks! I'm glad you picked up on the palm trees and sunset pointe... I thought they matched the location as well. The same designer just posted another really cute tropical type invitation but I think I will stick with the palm trees just because they do remind me of our location:lovestruc

So what's a good PJ without including all the interesting family dynamics that come along with weddings. So DF's grandma (dad's mom) had mentioned about 1 year ago that she didn't think she would be able to make it because she "wouldn't be able to find someone to watch her dogs" (she has 2 chihuahuas). This annoyed DF and his family a little but they figured she was just trying to be a little dramatic so they told her that she had over a year to find someone and that if not there are these places called kennels that she could board them at:lmao: Well now that the newsletters are out she told DF's mom that she didn't think she was going to make it because she wasn't going to be able to afford to go. Now this excuse would be totally legitimate in my opinion but this really ticked his mom off because she knew grandma had just bought a $500 dog and is about to go visit one of her friends in South Carolina for 2 weeks despite having known for over 2 years now that we were getting married at Disney. So FMIL apparently yelled at her for "being selfish" and then called DF and told him about the situation and they basically decided they were happy she wasn't coming and that my brother's fiance can come to the ceremony in her place. (When we first decided on our extremely limited guest list my brother was single but now 2 years later he is getting married before us (May 22), the plan was to send her to the spa during the ceremony but I'm secretly thrilled she can come now:banana:)

So the STD's were all addressed to go out at this point so I was still going to send one to his g-ma because I don't want it to ever come back that the drama exists because we "didn't invite her" but DF didn't want to send one to her at all- he doesn't want to give her the option to "change her mind". So we "fought"/disagreed about this for awhile but in the end I decided I was still going to send it but included with the STD a note saying something to the effect that "We heard through the grapevine that you won't be able to make it to the wedding but we wanted to send this just to keep you in the loop. We're sad you won't be able to be with us on the actual day but totally understand. We have hired a videographer to film the ceremony and will of course have tons of pictures that we look forward to sharing with you when we get back. If for some reason your plans change let us know." DF is still annoyed that I am doing this but I think it's the best option to avoid drama in the future. He is worried she will change her mind and decide she wants to come and says he doesn't really want her there anymore so then he says he will tell her she's not invited. I figure we'll deal with that if it happens (and we won't be telling her she's not invited but maybe that she can't come to the ceremony:confused:- I don't want to yank SIL around with telling her she can't come to the ceremony then she can then she can't... not sure- like I said we'll cross that bridge if we come to it). Any insight? Did I do the right thing by sending the STD still with a note? Should I continue to send her future newsletters and a formal invite or should I just leave it as is? Thanks!

Weddings seem to have a way of bringing on drama, I don't get it. But personally, I like what you did with the note. I have some people on DFs side that we are having drama with (one day they are coming, the next they aren't) and it can get very stressful for you as the bride. I can understand how you secretly felt relief that she isn't coming - this is your wedding and you don't need any drama on the day.

I wish you good luck with the rest of your planning, and I hope that it is family drama free!

I agree with the note. If all of a sudden she does decide to come, let her come to the dinner afterwards. Especially with the limit on the ceremony, you don't need the stress of constantly having to worry "is she or isn't she" and then changing the SIL's schedule

haha yeah whats a wedding without drama? Yeah I agree with the note, even if you have decided you don’t want someone there or they are causing problems, its really best to be the nice one. This way it never comes back to you that you were the one that was being mean. It is probably for the best that she doesn’t come, I would send her stuff she is still DF’s grandma so its best to just let her know whats going on. I hope she doesn’t end up messing things up further.

Thanks for the support ladies!

Thanks! Hopefully it all works out, DF is pretending to be happy she isn't coming too- saying it "makes it easier" but I know he's hurt. Hopefully this is the end of the drama and she just doesn't keep changing back and forth- that would be the worst.

That's an excellent idea and actually FMIL said the same thing when I went to visit them in MI this weekend. We were talking about it and she said if she decides to come then she can come to the dinner (along with our self-invited guests). I would feel kinda bad if that happened but I would feel worse about un-inviting SIL. G-ma had her chance and gave it up, SIL has always been 110% supportive.

I'm really glad everyone seems to agree with the note. I just hope this is the end of the drama. I think I will still send her the official invite as well just to make sure we continue to be civil towards each other:rolleyes:

Sorry I've been MIA again, I've been back in MI throwing a bridal shower for my FSIL, interviewing for a job, and looking for housing (we are moving back to MI in August when DF graduates). The shower went off perfectly (will post pics eventually), I accepted the job today, still haven't found housing but we have some time:thumbsup2 So back to the wedding!!!!

So when we went to Disney last month one of the things on my list of what I needed to pick up for the wedding was our toasting flutes. Now I told DF that we needed to get toasting flutes and his response was "Huh?" And I repeated "We need to pick up some toasting flutes"... DF's reaction "Toasting foods like bread and bagels?????":lmao: Me..."No you idiot- toasting FLUTES for the wedding" DF "Oh ok that makes more sense... what are toasting flutes?":rotfl: Boys are seriously clueless, I now call them champagne glasses so he doesn't get confused.

So anyways after we got confirmation that we got our date I was eager to get our champagne glasses and have them engraved. DF thought we should just wait and get them when we came back for the actual wedding but I was just so excited to have our date be official I felt the need to engrave it on something! So we ordered them at the crystal place on Main St in MK and had them sent to the resort. I was a little worried about this but the guy who does the engraving said it would be fine- that they do the resort delivery all the time... bet you can see where this is going. We ordered them on Wednesday and they were supposed to be delivered on Thursday which was perfect bc my parents were coming and they would be able to take them home with them for safe keeping til the wedding (they live in FL).

So Thursday after spending a wonderful day at Epcot with my parents we stopped in the Gift shop at All-Star Movies to pick up the glasses. When the staff member brought them out she said, "I'll have you open it to check your merchandise before you sign"- As I took the box I heard the rattling of broken glass, I smiled and said "That sounds like a good idea". So I opened them and they were shattered beyond recognition. My mom was standing with me and was absolutely horrified- I knew Disney would make it right so I didn't feel the need to freak out. I was only a little upset bc I knew I would have to listen to DF say "told you we should've waited til we cam back for the wedding"- which he of course said:headache: The staff member handled it very well, she assured me it would be fixed. I was mainly worried about the engraving being correct but she said that the keep a file of it at the store and also took detailed instructions that she sent back to the store in case they had any questions. The biggest deal to me was that since my parents were leaving that night I was now going to have to transport the glasses to MN with me, then to MI when we move, and then back to FL:eek:

So the next night, Friday night we received a call that the glasses were ready to be picked up:banana: So we arrive and open them and they are in one piece, the engraving looks beautiful-

We had our monogram on the back of the glass (sorry couldn't get the best pic bc of the design on the other side):

DSC02578.jpg

And our date engraved on the base (once again not a good pic but you get the idea):

DSC02573.jpg

HOWEVER, it was not the right design:sad2::scared1: We had originally ordered the design with the castle and Walt Disney World engraved underneath. These were the ones with the top of the castle, a classic Mickey, and swirls underneath. (Don't know why I can't get it rotated)

DSC02568.jpg

These were my second choice so I was internally debated whether to even say anything. The lady noticed something was wrong and asked so I told her. Once again she was very apologetic and went and got a manager to assist her. I told them I should have listened to DF and waited to get them til we came for the wedding:guilty:- I asked them if I could just get my money back and that I would buy them in December. The manager said "I'm sure we can make this right. How about you keep the incorrect glasses free of charge and we will have the correct glasses ready for you tomorrow." BIG problem, we were leaving tomorrow (Saturday). She asked what time we were departing - 3 pm- and she said she was sure they would be there before then so I figured... why not?

Of course the next day when we went to pick up our glasses at 2:50 pm they were not back yet. Once again the staff handled it very well, getting a manager involved right away. They were again very apologetic and promised to make it right, they refunded my money and assured me that they would have the glasses mailed to me and that they would arrive in 7-10 days free of charge. I thought this was above and beyond what they needed to do so I happily agreed.

Well it has been almost a month since we arrived home and there was still no sign of the champagne glasses. I was not worried about it since my bank account was not hurt at all by the ordeal and I had one free set of glasses that I could use. I really liked the other ones better but now these ones had a fun story and they were my second pick anyways- so I was thinking I would maybe just use them. Well... guess what arrived in the mail today? Yep the correct glasses, with the correct engraving, completely intact and beautiful! I will take pics of them and post them soon. So now I have 2 sets of Disney engraved champagne glasses, not totally decided on which ones I will use or what I will do with the extra set but I have a prediction for what will happen though... somehow I will manage to break one from each set and we will end up with a mismatched set:lmao:
