I have booked the Polynesian Resort for the last 4 nights of our stay (Jan 6-9).

I'm just wondering what I should expect re the building work? It will be our first stay at the Poly and I really don't want to be looking at lots of scaffolding during our stay.

Does anyone have any idea exactly what stage the renovations would be at in early Jan? Maybe I should consider another resort, though the Polynesian really did appeal as I love have a water view.

Hope someone can help me out here! :D

Disney couldn't even tell you that but I think that from experience they always have the work area blocked off with 8ft green plywood walls and the noise some how is not a bother. If the noise is a factor I would request a room in a bldg. far from the longhouses they arre refurbishing. At the time of year you are going it should be easy to get a room on the other side of the resort. It has been my experience at WDW that they must never work during the day only long after everyone is asleep because I never have heard noise coming from behind the large wooden fence.

I don't know what longhouse will be under rehab at that time but they do a great job of hiding the construction. I will have some pictures that I am adding to my web pages that are of Aotearoa and you almost can not tell it is being worked on from the longhouse across from it. I would not worry. There have been many times I was there and work was going on that I did not even know about till someone told me. The only construction that bothered anyone that I know of was the new pool.

The Poly is a very large spread out resort - I'm sure that if you request it they will be able to have you in a room isolated from the construction/rehab - have a great stay

Thanks everyone for your replies :D

I guess I will wait 'til nearer the time and see exactly which buildings are being renovated. I would like to stay in Tuvalu with a Lagoon view so hopefully that building will still be available.

I believe the work they did on Tuvalu last October is all they are going to do so it should be fine. Also the two longhouses that surround Tuvalu are going to be done in a few months so there will be no construction over in that area by then.

Aloha

Thanks for that info, Steve, it's put my mind at rest.

What would we do without our resident Poly expert? ;)

There are plent of other posters that know the Polynesian very well. I just happen to stick my nose into every Polynesian posting.
