After many DVC vacations in larger units, we have sold a number of our points and will be vacationing in a studio for the first time. I anticipate it being tight, as the kids are junior-high to near-adult now. We are staying ten nights and there will be five of us in a Poly studio...which looks nice....love the bathroom set-up!! Have a couple of questions though. Is the pull-down bed a twin, or smaller?

Also...looking for your pointers for traveling with adult-sized kids in a studio. I know we are going to miss the kitchen of the 1-BR units, so we are looking for some meal ideas that will work given the small refrigeration space and only a microwave. Anyone bringing any additional kitchen utensils, etc. to help keep the enormous eating out costs down. I know there are grills available, which I would love to use for some dinners, Do you have to sign-up for a time on the grill and what about utensils? How crowded is it? Do you have to wait a long time to cook your food?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts/experiences.....Johnnie.

The pull down bed is long enough for a 6 foot person, but it's not as wide as a twin. Might be good for a side sleeper.

I liked using the toaster for toast or bagels in the morning, and you can keep jam, cream cheese, etc. in the fridge, that made a good breakfast for in the room while sitting on the balcony. With that many people you might want to bring extra paper plates, cups, plastic utensils. At Captain Cooks you can buy frozen pizzas, entrees, etc. to heat in the microwave if you want cheaper meals. If you've got hungry teens who snack constantly, maybe bring or stop at a grocery first and get some big bags of chips, snacks, etc. to have on hand, the Mickey branded snacks are kind of expensive if you need a lot.

The grills are rarely used, at least every time I walk by there's nobody there. I would make use of those- I believe I did see steaks for sale in Captain Cooks. You check out grill utensils at the front desk.

Thanks...we will have a car so we plan on being able to make numerous quick store trips. I didn't see the grills on the map, can you tell me where the are located?

The grills are in the courtyard in the middle of the three DVC buildings. So if you can find Tokelau, Moorea, and Pago Pago on the map, it's in that courtyard in the middle of them. There's a nice covered seating area too to eat.

No need to bring extra paper plates or plastic silverware If you need more housekeeping will resupply.

Microwaving eggs is actually easy to do and nice for breakfast. There's a thread or two on the boards about eating in a studio.

So extra plates wouldn't be a new trash and towel charge? I thought they would charge you for anything extra.

No. Same for paper towels or toilet paper. You'll find that there isn't an exact inventory for any of those items.

Bath towels, toiletries and coffee are all extra.
