My family will be staying there in December. What is the best view to request, garden or lagoon? Also, i would be interested in and information about the property regarding the rooms and ameneties. It has been a while since I was there and the property seemed to be in need of renovations. Some of my family insisted we stay there despite my personal concerns regarding the age of the property. Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

Lagoon views at the Poly actually look out at the Seven Seas Lagoon, some to Cinderella's Castle. Everything else besides the lagoon view rooms are garden views. The thing is, overall, the Poly's garden view rooms have the best "garden" views on the property because the landscaping is lush and beautiful. Garden views also save you a little money.

BTW, the Poly isn't "old", it's Hawaiian/Polynesian/Tiki themed. People mistake it for being old, the reality is that they are renovating the resort a few buildings at a time and are almost done.

Well themed, beautifully landscaped, on the monorail, a really fun restauarant, luau on site, fun pool w/ slide, three great beaches, a little marina for watersports, the largest rooms on property, and a laid back atmosphere. I think if you give it a chance you might like it. :)

We have stayed at the Poly 4 times in the last 2 years and have enjoyed it each time. I have always gone for the garden view becasue it was cheaper and on each visit requested a particular longhouse (tokelau, I like the quiet location). We have always had pleasant views of the pool, vegetation etc... I know there are some parking lot views thrown in there, but we have always lucked out.

The rooms at the Poly are fine, they are spacious and are well themed. Some bathrooms in certain longhouses are more spacious, if you check out tikimans website (there is a link at mousesavers.com), he runs through all the longhouses, pro's and cons and points out which ones have been renovated most recently etc.. I have always found it helpful. My only compaint is the tiny, tiny tv's in the gigantic armoirs!!!!

All in all the Poly is a winner and has the best (IMO)mid price restaurant of all the resorts (Kona Cafe). The pool is a dream and the location cannot be beat anywhere on property. Have fun, I wished I were going back

Thanks for the information, I was under the impression the the Poly was one of the original 2 hotels whan WDW opened. I did hear a rumor that it was being renovated so thanks for confirming that information. I also noticed some of the renovation pics on this web site (I guess I should have looked first) and the property looks great. Whwn I was there 11-12 years ago the rooms were old looking and I remember a musty smell so as you can imagine that left an impression with me. But I hear they have long since updated the rooms, thanks againfor your info.
