Can't decide between the Polynesian or Contemporary for a two night pre cruise stay in March 2016. We will we going to the MK 1 day. What are your thoughts on the two properties. Help me pick and I appreciate the help.

It's a personal preference, I like Poly or GF, CR would be my 3rd choice for monorail resort because I enjoy a resort with pretty grounds. But with young children CR certainly is more convienent being able to walk to MK and back.

For us you really can't go wrong with either, that said we'd probably go with the Contemporary. On the other hand we always try to stay a Beach Club (love the pool) before and or after cruising on :smickey:'s :boat: .

Poly has the better (best?) pool now if that's important. With Poly you have monorail and big fairy boat as MK transportation, so it's quick at either resort. Contemporary has Bay Lake Towers right next to it which is a similar price. For Beach Club / Yacht Club you need to take buses which is a wait sometimes, but not unreasonable. Disney has good bus transportation if you are unfamiliar with it. It's kind of dumb to stay there and NOT walk to EPCOT though! ;-) Wilderness Lodge is still a top tier and over $100 cheaper if price is a factor.

For theming/atmosphere/restaurants on monorail resorts, I personally prefer Grand Floridian and Polynesian. But like previous poster said, huge perk at Contemporary is being able to walk to Magic Kingdom.

We've never stayed at the CR, but we love the Poly. We love the tropical atmosphere and the pool is our favorite on property. As others have said, the CR is convenient as you can walk, but the Poly is just the 2nd stop going and the 3rd stop coming back. With that said, you really can't go wrong with either one. Good luck.

Thank you for the replies. From the beach club is it hard to get to the MK?

The buses are hit or miss at the BC, IMO. Some people report buses sharing among all 5 resorts, while other times they are only shared between the BC & YC. If you will only be going to MK, I'd stick with a monorail resort as you can't get any closer/more convenient to MK.

I'm doing something similar in August--2 nights at WDW post-cruise, 1 day at MK. Even though Poly has been my dream deluxe, I decided CR made more sense this time around. Since it's such a short trip, the ability to walk to MK was the biggest selling point for me. I also booked TPV so we can watch the fireworks from the hotel room the night before we go to MK. I'm hoping this will satisfy our desire to see the fireworks so that on our MK day we can use that time to get in more rides. While I think I'd like the pool and "feel" of Poly better than CR, since we'll be swimming and going to the beach on the cruise and we're trying to maximize park time on the short trip, we probably won't take advantage of the pool anyway.
