Hubby just added 3 nights to our trip (WL 12/8-15) we are staying at the poly.
First question whats the difference in views? I know the obvious garden or lagoon, but does it make that much of a difference?
Second, what are the concierge offerings? We've done conc. at the CR and the GF.
Third, tell me everything!!! I am so pysched!

TIA

Okay, garden views are just that...views of garden areas, lush foliage, and sometimes the monorail. Lagoon views will look over the marina or the lagoon, but you aren't guaranteed the castle view.

Which is better? Well if money was no object, I probably would go for the lagoon if I could be guaranteed an awesome view. But truthfully, I think the garden views are good in their own right, alittle more private and such. So if garden is more in your price range, I don't think you should worry about missing out on much.

Concierge...can't remember everything, but visit Tikiman's website...he's the Polynesian g-d.

Money for the view isn't a problem, ever since staying at BWV and seeing how the views are classified there, paying extra for a view hasn't seemed worth it.
For as many of the resorts that we have stayed at, we have never even visited the poly, so I am clueless.
I will be heading over to tikimans site. Thanks

Since money isn't a problem, I would request a castle view and ask to be moved if I didn't get it. The castle view and watching the fireworks every night from our balcony was the main thing that made the Poly special for us. We usually stay at BWV and view isn't that important to us there as it is our resort of choice because of the location.

We're heading down from upstate NY during the same time period Bouncey one, staying at the same place. I am a Disney veteran and I must say, I have never seen "castle view". I've seen Lagoon view and it is offered as an option at an additional charge. Have you requested "castle view"? If so, any success?

My first Poly tip-- TAKE ME WITH YOU!!!!

::coughs and attempts to regain her dignity::

Ahem. I mean, you will love the Poly!

My personal favorite rooms are on the lagoon side of Aeatorea (I always spell that wrong, but you know, the one with eighty vowells in a row!) From my room there last year, I could see the fireworks over the castle, plus hear the music of the Luau! Be sure to request 3rd floor though, as rooms on the 2nd dont have balconies. Its also a very quick walk to the Great Ceremonial house from here, and a lovely walk over to the Grand Floridian if you're so inclined.

lagoon views are castle views. There are some garden views that have a view of the lagoon but if they do not have a view of the castle that are not considered a lagoon view at the Polynesian.

Aloha

We just got back from our stay at the Poly, Nov 15 to 23rd. We got put in #2223 in Aotearoa which had a direct view of the castle but no balcony so on our third day, I went down to Guest Services and got switched to #2022 in Tahiti, again with a castle view, but much closer to the beach, and with a balcony. My three traveling companions, all Disney virgins, were very happy with the first room, and didn’t think we needed to move, but being a Poly Person, I knew we could bet a better view and the management was very accommodating. Aftter we got settled in the new room, they agreed that Tahiti afforded better views and the balcony made a big difference, too.
I just love the Poly and would really be happy with any room, because I honestly think that there are no bad views in that resort, even a so-called “parking-lot view“ is taken up with lush foliage, and the actual parking lots are quite a distance from the resort buildings. The only negative about the Poly is; no whirlpool, and that is almost enough reason to make me stay elsewhere. Other than that this is a great place to stay. The ultimate compliment came from one of my companions who said, “I’ve been to Hawaii, and this is just like it”. Need I say more?

Thanks everyone. We decided to stay with the garden view, having 2 children with us doesn't give us too much time to sit and enjoy the view anyway.

Thanks again for all your help and suggestions.

Just FYI. Garden views include views of the marina, garden areas, partial lagoon, pools and parking lots. As much as I agree that most of the rooms have great views the parking lot side of Rapa Nui is a direct view of the cars with nothing between you and the parking lot. Your patio would be about 15 feet from the sidewalk of the parking lot. This is the only view I would consider to not be a good view at the Polynesian but it is very close to your car and the rooms are slightly larger in Rapa Nui.

Aloha

Steve
