Anyone else order the Polynesian room furniture? We emailed about the cost of the shipping before we bid and the amount was $150-$175 for shipping. We bid and won some of the items and we paid immediately. We sent some emails to find out when the items would be shipped and got no response to any of the emails. The shipping ended up being the larger of the two numbers quoted but we were ok with that. Now we get an email saying he cannot send the items and to call because he was misquoted by the shipper and we needed to call. Sounds like a scam to me. You state one thing and than raise the price later. If it was a mistake on his part he should eat the cost. I have gotten a few emails from others who ordered Polynesian stuff and asked if I heard from the guy or got my stuff yet.
I think I am going to have to make a “special” page for this guy on my Polynesian web page that is titles “WATCH OUT FOR MOUSESURPLUS”

Hi, Wow, I saw some of the stuff that was being sold on ebay, is that where it was listed?? Anyway, yeah, it does sound fishy to me, I'd tell him exactly what you said, you paid what he quoted, if it's more, he needs to pay it!!! I hope you get it all worked out, IN your favor. If you do, share some pics with us of what you got!!!

By the way, I love your site......... very nice, and informative!!!

Good Luck, keep us posted!

I've seen their website, and it looks pretty reputable. I haven't purchased anything from them.

You are correct that they should eat the cost if they quoted you a certain price. It's a tricky thing shipping large items since freight shipping is ususally the way it's done. And sometime freight cost vary with the amount of items being shipped with your particular items. (meaning the seller could be sending more than just your order in one truck. Other orders could be on the same truck as your)

I had ordered a new (in the package) Polynesian bed spread from them a few years ago and it was a very smooth transaction. I even considered putting a link to Moussurplus on my web page. I was surprised this has not gone as smooth so far and even more surprised at the lack of a response. I have sold lots of stuff on Ebay and had many auctions end at once and I always replied right away and shipped on time. I take on the responsibility that a seller should take. If you are going to sell be prepared to support that effort.

I didn't purchase any, but i wanted to! I asked for the shipping charges twice, and never even got an answer! I did see another post were someone got charged more than they were quoted also.

i bought POR curtains and had issues with getting quotes for delivery and getting in touch/replies to my emails at first but eventually got them shipped and to the UK too, which I was pleased with.

I won one of the headboards in the auction. Shipping was $98 to NC from FLA. They said I would hear from the shipper on Thrisday to set a time for delivery. Smooth transaction. I CALLED the company to pay for the items and arrange shipping. Much more reliable than the net.

Tikiman -

I just got off the phone with MouseSurplus ... the first time I called, I was told I would get a call back with my shipping information - never happened. I called back again and got a tracking number. My items shipped - but nine days after they accepted payment. We'll see how smooth delivery is.

I wouldn't let them coerce you into paying more than what they originally stated for shipping. They should eat any additional costs associated with a mistake on their end.

I bid on and won the headboard, 2 night stands, armoire, daybed, chair and a mirror. I emailed them before I bid and was emailed back stating it would be about $250.00.I could see it as much as $300.00-no biggie. I included my state(Michigan) so they would know rough distance. When I got my Ebay invoice, shipping was up to $375.00. I was not happy. I called them on it and the guy(Brian) said when they got my address and input it for shipping it came to 375. He said all of it would not fit on 1 pallet, so it has to be on 2 pallets. He said that is what Rodeway's charge is. After I told him I would have re-thought my bidding if i had known he said they would ship for $250.00. I sure hope so- I gave him my cc# over the phone.
I think they are reputable, but I think they need to be more accurate on shipping and ask for exact address.
I hope it all arrives in good condition.
Let's keep each other posted on this and maybe state the condition when it arrives.
There is force in numbers :wave2: :wave2:

Tikiman-
I love your site-the Poly is my fav.

Yeah I guess I should not have sounded like I think they are trying to rip us off (I was a little upset) but they need to organize their shipping info better. They sell enough stuff. I was a little worried. I read the feedback on Ebay and there is a negative feedback about getting one of the mirrors from the bathroom (that we also ordered) and it came broken and packaged poorly. I hope our stuff comes in good condition.

They do have a lot of great stuff and the other time I got something it was an easy transaction.

Wow- I am surprised, I use EBAy a lot - never these sellers though. I would report them to EBAY.

Well no daybed and mirror for Tikiman. My wife called him and they originally charged us $175 for shipping and now they want $225 more for shipping. $400 to ship a daybed and mirror!!!!???? I had a hand carved 6 foot 400 lb tiki shipped from Florida to here for $100. So I will have to do without the daybed. We had wanted one since we found out last year that they were going to be selling them when they removed them from the rooms. It was going to be for our sons playroom but I was not going to pay another $225. Well I am happy for those who did get a piece of the Polynesian. It is a sad day at our house.

Aloha

Steve

We bought the the whole set of furniture and was told that the shipping cost was going to be $450. Which for all that stuff seemed about right to us. I have not heard from them since I have sent payment. I may need to make a phone call tomorrow.

I have purchased a small item or two from them in the past. I had no problems with shipping or changes in shipping fees. I love looking through their auctions. It's almost like a backstage tour. I wish you all good luck with your items. Maggie

I emailed them to find out about shipping for the entire Polynesian room over a week ago and still no word from them. I did call and they told me $525. I don't know if they just threw that out there or what because they were pretty quick with a reply.

Sorry about the daybed and mirror tikiman. :sad2:
