Polynesian DVC starting in 2013 - How exciting!

Are there plans for a DVC there, yes there are.

Will they build there, who knows?

Eagle Pines had plans, was announced even by DVC and was not built.

I would say chances are very good for this to come to pass, but nothing is ever certain. If built I am sure we would be looking at something closer to 2017.

Do you think they will add a new pool with a hot tub at the Poly? I hope so, also is there going to be a new pool at the Grand Floridian with the addition of the villas? I still can't believe that between these 2 resorts there is only 1 hot tub, boourns and a half.

VGF will sell well, so I have no doubt that Poly will start being built like the Tikiman pages state. He has been around awhile and his info is pretty accurate. I will be glad when it goes on sale! This is be my biggest DVC purchase since I LOVE Poly and I will want a water bungalow everytime I go there so I am preparing myself now. I hope it takes at least 3 years. LOL

I haven't stayed at the Poly since 1977. With this rumor being brought up, at the end of my Vero Beach trip in early July, I booked a room at the Poly to check it out. I have always had found memories of it and would like to see if this is a possibility to purchase in the future.

i have been waiting for this one. have stayed at poly before we were dvc owners and loved it. love kona cafe also!

founding members at akv and blt. and will be proud owners at poly when the time comes.:goodvibes

I would love to have another DVC with Conceirge. That would be the selling point for me to add on at Poly. Wondering why Kadani, BLT and VGF did not include Conceirge. I think this would be a great selling point.

I have a feeling the bungalows will be point intensive... concierge in itself!

This post ends the debate for us; no add on at VGF and a bigger add on at Poly, the day they start selling points.

I've been waiting for this one since I first found out about DVC, definitely adding on here no doubt about it. It's always been our favorite place!:cool1:

Here is what Tikiman wrote regarding a new pool...
The area where the Tangaroa Terrace and the garden area between Tahiti, Rapa Nui and Tokelau will become a new pool area with lazy river modeled after the one at Aulani.

It makes sense to add a much nicer pool to one of WDW's most popular deluxe resorts.

IMO the CL at Jambo is because of the odd left over rooms on the 6th floor that were already on the lounge floor. Those rooms have pretty poor views and I am sure cash guests would not be happy there.

CL doesn't work well, with a timeshare. The AKV owners with their dues are the ones paying for the CL amenities for the guests staying there. The fact that the rooms cost more points doesn't reimburse the owners.

I love CL, it's a selling point for me. I would consider adding on an AKL contract. I would also like to see DVC add more CL categories to DVC resorts. If the Poly adds a DVC, and they offer CL accomodations, I would seriously consider purchasing there as well. I understand that the MF has to cover expenses, but doesn't regular cash rooms at CL offset a portion of the expense?

I agree, the CL rooms on the 6th floor of Jambo have strange views, they aren't ideal and I would probably be annoyed by it - if paying cash OOP. But, since we used points, I don't really mind it.

Just told my DH the rumor...he's putting our guide's number on speed dial. He loves the Poly and his DVC. The possibility of the two together has put a big smile on his face. His ""Happy Place" just got happier...oh, wait did I just say thatpixiedust: We spend too much time at Disneyland;)

The CL rooms cost more points which allows non-CL rooms to be less points. The room may be nearly the same. Also the extra points payed for a CL has also an extra cost in maintenance dues. Maintenance on a standard room would cost no more than a CL room so the extra point cost must go towards CL amenities. Therefore non-CL rooms do not make up cost for CL rooms.

As for the cash customers not liking 6th floor rooms. I can see the views being a concern. Then again access to the lounge is better on the 6th floor. I recall post in the past of cash customers were upset that DVC took all the 6th floor rooms. Also post where DVC members were given non 6th floor rooms (CL points) because of overbooking, which upset the dvc members that they did not get a 6th floor room. They still got CL service.

I really think if they are going to offer deluxe resorts to DVC members then members should also be able to get CL rooms.

Seems like in the past rumors were that VGF would also have rooms in the main building. Does anyone know if this is going to happen in the future?

I think the rumors sprang from the idea that if DVD wanted to start selling VGF early, they could convert rooms in the main building (like they did at AKL-Jambo). But ultimately, they chose to make the DVC building completely separate and start selling once that building neared completion. So, I think, that decision means we won't be seeing DVC villas in the main building at GF.

they open a Poly DVC, would that effect poolhopping? Poly is one of my preferred poolhop spots, and banning poolhopping there would negatively change my opinion of a Poly DVC.

Its possible that they will. When they build BLT, they did not include the pool there for pool hopping...but, they didn't eliminate the one at the CR.

At AKV, no pool hopping is allowed at all, at either building.

My guess would be they will, just because of the popularity of it and if it is going to have an expansion, it could become way too crowded.

They are convernting buildings?

Oh my, that's not a good sign IMHO! Those buildings are old, outdated etc... IMHO it's time to tear then down and start over, I don't see "conversion" as a plus. Hopefully they will change their mind and DVC will get new stuff.

And I agree with the above post. You get Poly DVC, you lose Poly pool hopping. You win some you lose some (Of course I also think one day that 'perk' will just disappear!)

I also don't think you will see CL. I think DVC realizes it was an error with AKV that's lead to complaining because "we sold it to you, but you have no luck using it" (My guide told me had heard a lot of complaints about this one) I don't think they will make that error twice. And since we didn't get it with VGF then....

I do think this will have the fixed week option however..

Are you saying that AKL DVC members are complaining that they can't book CL rooms at 11 month window?
