Here was our “standard view” when we checked in today. Wow. (Aotearoa building) Other parts of resort do not look like this….Nuie was great.DE3D3690-CF8D-453E-B49E-A5F9EDCD8C1C.jpeg

I’m sorry you have such a terrible view ☹️. Most of the buildings away from the construction are the DVC buildings which is ironic because you are seeing the construction of the new DVC building. I hope you have a wonderful trip despite the dirt mound, I think you should still be able to see the fireworks at least.

Exactly my thought too. Disney most likely charging $800/night for this room is insane to me.
Yeah I’d be severely disappointed.

Standard view could be parking lot, overlooking bins, etc but they still have a peacefulness about them. This is disruptive. Not sure what the desk could offer to make this tolerable. There is zero resort feel here.

It's silly of Disney to have these available, let alone at full price!

A few thoughts

#1 I'm kind of surprised they left these open to book but then again not really. I mean it's business, in the meeting I'm sure it was said let's see how many people will pay and not say anything and not want to be moved. And we'll rake it in.

#2 My 3 and 5 year old would LOVE to sit out here and watch all the construction going on. They would rather do that than go to the parks.

#3 Now if the rooms were literally over half off and they told you exactly what you were getting, then that's a different story and I would probably take that deal.

This is just.......unfortunate. If you are staying for more than 2 nights, hopefully they can move you. My friend just had a room in Aotearoa on the ground floor facing the monorail. She said it was so peaceful and felt very tropical with all of the plants and trees.

Good luck!!

I should have said this was Aotearoa , since then they were very gracious in moving us to Nuie, if we could wait several hours which of course was fine by us. So sad as that would have been a great room, could see a bit of castle and lagoon. We anticipated noise and perhaps a crane off to the side but this was a 3 story pile of dirt.

Disney backstory: Breaking news! A new volcanic cone has formed in the middle of the Polynesian Resort! See from the beginning how our volcano pool was formed! Scientists are using construction equipment to keep guests safe from the fresh ash!

(Sorry, OP, that you got such a poor view and had to move.)

lol about the kids mine are grown. We aren’t even doing parks just wanted to relax at resort for 5 days. They did move us thank goodness but felt guilty for all the others… there were a lot in that building.

DH has an even better shot if you zoom in, squint and look up the castle is in view!3998CFD5-AF4C-4D6E-A5BA-875D5FBBCBA4.jpeg

My DH adored that our Maui hotel was under construction. Absolutely loved watching the dump trucks each day.
