Stayed at Polynesian Concierge Dec. 19-25. Besides bowls of fresh fruit, veggies and cheese and crackers every evening, these were the "main" selections in the lounge:

Thursday: Chicken wings with two flavors of dipping sauces
Friday: Pasta and antipasto salad
Saturday: Chicken Caesar Salad
Sunday: Nachos
Monday: Sushi
Tuesday: Chicken Lo Mein

As HSminnie posted in another thread, there were some families whose kids just cut in line and basically ran amuck, but then again I observed their parents and the apple didn't fall far from the tree. At breakfast one morning, I this one man took some bananas from a pile and he knocked one off the pile onto the floor. Did he pick it up? No, he just looked at it and walked away. One man was watching his son use the tongs they placed next to the toaster as a microphone and he was laughing...this kid had to be at least 10 yrs old or more. Then the kid stuck these tongs into the toaster to get his bread out. Talk about spreading germs.

Still, we had a great time and meeting and talking at length with Chef Dick was very nice also.

Welcome home and thanks for the review. :)

I've seen many of the same things at the various concierge lounges on Disney property--as well as buffet meals on-site. Too bad many people nowadays don't have common courtesy/ manners.

Hi And welcome home!!
Im glad to hear you had a nice trip! We will be there next weekend!! YIPEE!!! :) :) :)
Have you ever stayed onsite before?? How did it compare to others??
Did you use the pool?? ANd one more question how crowded is the concierge area??

Hi Tnkrbell,
We stayed at the FW cabins this past April/May. My husband said he liked it there better because we had our own "home," and it was very peaceful. Noise really traveled in the Hawaii building, probably because it's so old. I think we had the Lord of the Dance and his family living above us at one point, plus you could hear when people walked down the hallway. He did enjoy the Polynesian though, although I probably enjoyed it the most out of our family because I was the one who took advantage of the lounge the most (loved those evening desserts!). My hubby, 17 yr. old and 3 yr. old swam in the pool but I didn't due to a bad cold, plus it was windy and a bit chilly during our stay (although I did feel the water and it was very warm). As far as the concierge lounge, it seemed to be more crowded during the food hours after Dec. 22. The lounge itself isn't very big, and the tables are so close together that it's hard to maneuver sometimes. I would usually eat breakfast in the lounge with our 3 yr old and take back stuff for the rest of the family. In the evening we'd eat in the lounge if it wasn't crowded...they have regular silverware/dishes and paper plates/plastic utensils and trays for "take-out." Both our sons practically lived on the uncrustable pb&j sandwiches. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Thanks so much for the quick response!! :)
What floor where you on?? I didn request the first floor I hope I dont regret that!! :D
We usually stay at the Yacht or Beach so Im really nervous and excited about this trip. (change is good right??!! :))
Im glad to hear it was ok to take food back to your rooms, I dont think I would like to sit and eat there!
What room did you have? Did you enjoy the view?? We are staying GV.

Could you please tell me what time does breakfast start in the lounge? Thanks.

Glad to hear you had a great trip.
Gi

We were on the first floor, GV room 1532...three rooms from the concierge lobby/check-in area. There was some nice lush foliage right outside our patio that made it a bit more "private," which was fine by us. It was convenient as far as location...the smaller the numbers get the further down the hall you are. I think 1519 is the last room on the GV side, then 1518 would be the first LV room at the far end of the building, right across from 1519. I would take our 3 yr. old to the lounge to watch the fireworks at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., then go back at 9 p.m. to watch the electric water pageant and the late fireworks. We did this for two nights, then the fireworks got old for him. I know a lot of people have posted on these boards that paying extra money for a lagoon view was worth it to them, but I couldn't see paying extra $$$ because in all honesty we don't sit and watch the castle all night long and we were pretty much early sleepers/early risers. Monorail access was great too...my 3 yr. old could ride that all day long and not even go into the parks! He also played in the sand A LOT...could've stayed there all day too. That was okay by me, because this trip was meant to be a "non-commando" one since we just went in April.

Breakfast is 7-10:30; evening snacks are from 5-7 p.m.; desserts from 8-10 p.m.

Tnkrbell: Where in Florida do you live? Are you getting a resident rate to stay at the Polynesian?

They also have cookies out during the day: oatmeal raisin, chocolate chip and sugar cookies. I was talking to Chef Dick and he said he used to make macadamia nut and white chocolate macadamia nut cookies also, but he had to stop because of people who are allergic to nuts (all the cookies are placed together in a big basket and he said some of the nuts would get onto the other cookies). Too bad, because what's Hawaii without macadamia nuts? :(

And whole fresh fruit: apples, bananas, pears and delicious oranges! The pineapple in the evening (dipped in caramel) was also yummy!

Okay, just so everyone knows: I DID NOT just sit around the concierge lounge and wait around for the food to come out and eat everything that I'm describing in my posts (although I'm pretty sure I came close)! LOL :p

I sure enjoyed the lounge! I missed the watermellon that the AKL concierge had, but otherwise I could have sat in the lounge forever!
