Hi!
We are planning a trip for early May and I’m having a hard time deciding on which resort to stay at! I was hoping you could help me! We’ve stayed at BLT numerous times before and currently have a 2BR booked there. I was thinking that for close to the same price we could get two studio rooms at the Poly. Or I noticed that a one bedroom suite was open at the Contemporary. We like walking to the parks so that is a big perk of the CR area but the Poly has always been a dream to stay at. It is myself, my husband and two kids 19-22. We haven’t been since 2019 but used to go yearly prior to covid and I’m not sure how often we will go after this trip, at least with all four of us. Any thoughts from all you professionals?🥰 thanks for your help!

With 4 adults, I would pick the BLT two bedroom for the extra space, washer/dryer and kitchen. I wouldn’t sacrifice that for two studios and the elimination of walking to MK. I would not put 4 adults in a CR one bedroom

At BLT a 2BR will have 3 full bathrooms - 3 bath tubs (2 of them will be tub-showers), 3 sinks, 3 toilets, 1 walk-in shower. Two Poly DVC Studios will have a total of 2 toilets, 2 tub-showers, 2 walk-in showers and 4 bathroom sinks. Just in case that makes a difference for your family.

I agree with this. Personally (ducks at flames), the Poly is overhyped. We love the 1 and 2 brs at BLT over either other choices.

If someone offered me a free trip for myself, hubby and daughters age 18 and 22 (about the same ages as your kids), where we could choose between a 2BR villa at BLT and 2 studios at the Poly, we would all choose the 2 studios at the Poly. I just asked my family (my 22 yr old is a CM at the Grand Floridian). Instant unanimous response - everyone voted for the Poly. We prefer the theming, the pools, the beach, the grounds in general and the whole vibe. We love Trader Sams, Tambu Lounge, Pineapple Lanai, and the restaurants. You can walk from the Poly to the MK if you want to. We've done it and it was fine. First we walked to the GF, grabbed a drink, then headed on over to the MK. The walk is a little longer than from BLT, obviously, but it's a very pretty walk. Boat and monorail from Poly to the MK are quick and easy too. If you've stayed at BLT a lot, and Poly "has always been a dream to stay at"... then do it! I think you'll love it.

Can you walk from Poly to GF with the construction right now?

I'm not clear if you are staying cash or DVC. I you are cash, I'm a big nope on Poly, which is a construction zone. A lot of the rooms are right on the site, and this project is BIG.

Poly DVC rooms are across the resort, but still construction. Who knows if the whole parking lot is blocked that week, or there's no way to get to GF, or what will be happening then.

A 1BR at BLT is hard to book because of the extra bathroom, seems like that might work for 4 adults just fine. I'd normally take 2 Poly studios over 1BR BLT, but maybe not with construction.

Sorry, yes we are paying cash. My dad is treating us as we haven’t been in a several years. They are staying at BLT but he said we should stay where we want. I’m leaning towards being at the same resort as him but I’m torn on staying at the poly. I’m leaning towards keeping what we have with the two bedroom (we’ve stayed 1bedroom several Times and can make it work but the two bedroom Is especially appealing. Thanks for all your thoughts. I will probably over think this for days. Lol!

On a side note, we are switching halfway thru to the Epcot area and have two rooms at beach club but am wondering if you all think YC rooms would be better. Ideally I’d love them to
Connect But not sure how feasible that is. Anyway thanks again!!!

BC DVC is sorely in need of refurb, and the views are nothing special. But I hear you can say the same about yacht club, so probably about the same.

DVC is not good at filling connecting room requests like this, unless you actually book it as a 2BR lock off. BC DVC in particular it might be impossible. It's a small resort, and the only rooms that connect are 1BR and studio, to make a 2BR lockout, which is bookable as such. Studios can never connect. They just don't have the layout to do it, like hotels with a bunch of rooms with doors between.

I prefer YC over BC. It feels quieter and I really like the QS there (so much nicer than Marketplace at BC). That being said, BC is better located, so it really depends on preference. I just stayed at YC in November and thought the room was lovely.

I prefer YC over BC because it is quieter and the rooms (I think all of them) have a balcony or a patio. As far as CR and Poly go, I prefer the Poly. Walking to the MK from CR is great but I didn't like the monorail to Epcot. I didn't like the whole transfer step to get to Epcot. At the Poly, you can just get on the Epcot monorail at the TTC.

Yes. I was at the GF over Thanksgiving and walked over to the Poly several times. The normal beach path has been blocked off due to the Poly construction of course, but a temporary new path has been made. New path goes from the Grand Floridian Villas parking lot, alongside the road and to the Poly. It's got good signage, is smooth, not bumpy, is used by a lot of people. It's not as scenic as the lake/beach, but it's fine and quick.
