Poly Tokelau request?

Just booked yesterday for a week stay the 1st week of Dec. We have a 6 and 2 yr old. Planning on returning to the Poly each day for some down time and nap for DD. Reading Tikiman's descriptions, I think I like the sound of this. I like that it is in a quieter area, is not too far from the TTC for walking and is close to the quiet pool. Most importantly though we need a non-smoking room and would prefer a non-smoking building due to DD's asthma. Did I make the right request? or is there another longhouse I should ask for?

Also, how long does it take to get to each of the parks from the Poly? I told my husband it was worth the cost for the convenience. I hope I was right.

Thanks,

Jackie

We stayed in the Tokelau bldg. last year. We loved the resort! It was very easy to get to MK and Epcot via the monorail. We took our car to AK and MGM so I don't know about how the bus system runs to those parks. We did take the bus to DTD and it took a long time because we stopped at the contempary first.

Tokelau is a great choice. You can walk out the end of the bldg and be on the beach in about 30 seconds. The quiet pool is right next to the bldg. It's about a 10 minute walk to the TTC from Tokelau. We loved that bldg.
I don't think it takes more than 15-20 minutes to get to any of the parks. It's about 10 mins to MK by monorail, 15-20 (including waittime) by little boat. Total of about 30 minutes to get to Epcot but that includes the walk to TTC and then getting on the monorail. And about 15 minutes to MGM. AK is about 15 also.

I like Tokelau for many reasons and it is not because I have stayed in the building, it is just from my many walks around the resort and figuring out what views and locations are like.

As far as getting to the parks we always rent a car because we like to go from one destination to another that busses will not take you but sometimes we take a bus to MGM and it only takes about 30minutes once on the bus. Now getting into the MK is quick by either the monorail or the boat. I recorded some times that it takes to get from one place to another at a leisurely pace and this is what I came up with.

From Hawaii longhouse to the TTC was 5 minutes.

From the TTC (yes I taped the whole trip on the monorail because we were up front) to Epcot monorail station the ride took 8 minutes.

Hawaii to the GCH 2 minutes
Tokelau to the Volcano pool walking the beach 4 minutes
Tahiti to the Volcano pool walking the beach 4 minutes
Tahiti to the GCH 3 minutes taking the path through the resort.
Tuvalu to the GCH 2 minutes

We have stayed at the Yacht Club, Dolphin and Animal Kingdom Lodge and we found the Polynesian to be more convenient than any of them.

Aloha

Steve

Thanks to Steve and everyone for your responses.

Especially to Steve - you convinced me that this will be the best resort for us through your wonderful dedication to the Poly. It is put together beautifully and with such detail that you really can get a feel for the place having never been. I now look even more forward to our trip because we will be staying there, and my 6 yr old son keeps asking to look at the pictures on your website. Most importantly - Congrats on little Kai. (Love the name.)
