We were lucky enough to stay at the Poly a few years ago during the promotion buy 4 get 3 free, and were able to swing a view, concierge/club room in the Hawaii building. It really was terrific and my kids have great memories of watching the fireworks and the electrical water pagaent from the room window. I'm not sure I would pay "rack" rate for it, but we were pretty happy with the view and the club amenities at the rate we got. I'd suggest comparing the cost between the view room and the club/water view room - since the club rooms give you access to concierge planning, snacks, drinks, continental breakfast, etc and most of the rooms in the Hawaii building give you a view of Cinderella's castle. We just came back from another WDW trip, and didn't splurge with the view this time, we stayed at AKL in a standard view room but had just as much fun. I used the $$ for extras like Cirque du Soleil tickets, lunch with an Animal Specialist at Sanaa, the wishes dessert buffet at MK plus a few other things. I'm glad we stayed at the Poly that one time (my kids were 9 & 14 then) since it will be a memory they will keep forever. If you think having a Castle view will "make" your trip go for it. If you think you might regret spending the the money, then use the $$ for other extras to make the trip special. You can have a great trip with or without the view.
